To have only just realised I could be pregnant

Posting for traffic. Name says it all.

DP and I have only DTD once since DS was born, about 2 months ago due to combination of him working away and cosleeping making it difficult. We didnt use protection as I'm EBF and it was kind of a 'fuck it' moment.

Last two days have had awful gas, bloating and weird metallic taste in my mouth. Was burping endlessly in the car and DP said 'haha wow the only time I've seen you this bad is when you were pregnant'. It was just a passing comment but thinking about it I do feel exactly as I did a year ago when in first trimester.

Oh God I'm pregnant aren't I?! I need to take a test but it's 1am and I'm panicking. 5mo is asleep next to me.

Don't even know what I'd do. I'd love another baby but how the hell would we cope with a just 1 year old and a newborn? Oh lordy.

A lovely start for the new year. Hope your dh is happy about the news.

mumof06darlings · 31/12/2017 23:23

Congratulations - that's fab news. Don't get bogged down thinking of Prams etc now - enjoy the moment. Everything will just slot into place 💐

BrownTurkey · 31/12/2017 23:24

When will you tell dh? We had a side by side double pram, all I can say is it was a monster and so so heavy, but it was still invaluable with two, and tbf I do have a lot of steps. There are probably better ones now.

badbadhusky · 31/12/2017 23:25

It’s a while ago, but we had a Phil& Ted’s E3 - it was the same width as a single pushchair, which was great on the bus, in shops & our hall. They probably have a much newer model.

Congratulations by the way. There were sibs in my year at high school
10 months apart - they had made it to their teens & their parents were still together. People do manage this situation and get through it.

nooka · 31/12/2017 23:28

I mostly used a sling and buggy (and then buggy board) with my two (16mth gap) we did have a double buggy for a while but it was very awkward (and dd started to pull ds's hair when she got a bit bigger so he was keener to go on the board than sit by her). The style that have the babies stacked is probably much easier to manoevre although it seems a bit rubbish for the one at the back.

nooka · 31/12/2017 23:30

Oh and my two are 17 and 18 now. The first couple of years were very challenging (get as much help as you can!) but it's been great ever since. Going to be very odd indeed when dd follows ds to university in September.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 31/12/2017 23:34

Congratulations!! What a way to kick off 2018.

You need to get on Instagram and follow those who have it ‘worse’ (for want of a better word, terrible phrasing sorry!).

Twinsandmoretwins - 2 sets of twins in 11 months, and Chloe and Beans - 6 under 6 : 3 in 3 years and then triplets.

Good luck!! :)

Chattycat78 · 31/12/2017 23:36

I’ve got a baby jogger City select double pram (16.5 months age gap) and it’s been great- it’s not a side by side one- rather it’s longer than a regular pram. I also used a sling a lot for the baby for the second time around, at least for the first year.

Congratulations.

Flaky · 31/12/2017 23:41

Will you be wishing your DH Happy New Year at midnight with the pregnancy test in hand OP?

Congrats.

HappyAndRelaxed · 31/12/2017 23:55

midwife told me you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding! Hmm
That MW needs a good talking to and sent o a revision course

Kt12x · 01/01/2018 00:12

This happened to me, 4 years of trying for my first and the first time after my 2nd came! Like you a passing comment to my friend of, the only time I remember feeling this knackard was when I was pregnant!!!! Yes I was, mine are 13 months apart and it was fine. I went through every emotion, but it was great and they are so close, now 4 and 5! You will be fine

Pastaagain78 · 01/01/2018 00:46

Congratulations! Have you told DH yet?

MynewnameisKy · 01/01/2018 00:47

Congratulations- get onto your Vitamins ASAP!

Happy New Year

flowergrrl77 · 01/01/2018 00:56

Some ppl put side by side ones up outside, some go for tandem...

Initially when I had just 2, baby was in a sling all the time and toddler in a buggy, didn’t ever put DS2 in a buggy till he was 6 months old! :)

starshineangelxx · 01/01/2018 01:20

My daughter is getting this

To have only just realised I could be pregnant
msannabella · 01/01/2018 01:36

Congratulations! I have an 18 month gap between my youngest 2. I went back to work already 3 months pregnant. Ours very doable having a small gap, you just get on with it i think. My youngest is 8 months now and her and her brothers are so close. I have an oyster tandem buggy which is great, i have a small front door too and its one on top of the other which is great. c

olebiscuitbarrel · 01/01/2018 01:42

Congratulations. I have 5 kids.

I had 3 under 3 and then 4 under 5. 3 of them are in consecutive school years. I have no bloody idea how I did it. At one point I had 2 in a double buggy with one on a buggy board. Everyone mistakes DD2 & 3 for twins. 16 months between DDs 2,3 and 4. Then 2 and a bit years between DD4 & DS1.

I’m hoping this year will mark the first time I haven’t had a child in nappies since 2009.

Funnily enough my AF was a day late and I did a test yesterday & initially read the wrong window, saw a blue line appear immediately and shat myself before realising I was holding the thing upside down.

I had been wondering whether or not to go for no 6. I now know the answer. Grin

bedtimestories · 01/01/2018 01:47

Congratulations, I thought I was the only one who burped excessively during the first trimester

AuroraNinjaMama · 01/01/2018 02:34

Congratulations lovely! Telling him sooner may help stop the trepidation about what he might say from building up in your head.

DD1 would be 23 now, DD2 is nearly 13.... Due for another? Feeling very broody now I've read the whole thread. Hmm would prefer a DP first Grin

lurkingnotlurking · 01/01/2018 06:40

Congratulations. One word of advice : if your baby seems unsettled on the breast, check if you have milk. Mine runs out in the first few weeks of pregnancy. Good luck.

Abbylee · 01/01/2018 06:57

My mother was the same distance apart from her brother; she loved it! My are 1yr/9mos apart. Difficult but also wonderful. Best wishes.
( you are already very lucky. First time after ds, i thought I was being ripped apart! Bf can be birth control from pain from "shutting down" down there. )

Abbylee · 01/01/2018 07:03

We had a stroller that ds could stand or sit on behind dd who had the sit/lay front seat. It was not much bigger than normal one seater. Only problem was ds would get bored at street fairs and scooch the buggy away with his toes.

huha · 01/01/2018 07:15

OMG OP.

CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎈🍾

TheLegendOfBeans · 01/01/2018 07:29

@NameChangeSoSisCantFindMeAhhhh

Firstly: CONGRATS & Happy New Year! Please get smelling salts ready for DP Grin

Secondly: we got a 1st generation iCandy peach off gumtree for £300. You can get other tandems such as Uppababys, Oyster Max etc for the same or less plus the eBay will have heaps of spare parts & accessories for sale.

We have 20months between our two. DD adores DS but it’s hard with an active toddler & a newborn so your small gap between the babies is a good thing!!

TheEagle · 01/01/2018 08:13

lurkingnotlurking

Milk doesn’t necessarily run our during pregnancy; plenty of women breastfeed through pregnancy and continue to tandem feed a toddler and a newborn.

It’s towards the end of the second trimester that you’re more likely to see a dip in milk supply but this doesn’t happen for every woman.
