To have only just realised I could be pregnant

Posting for traffic. Name says it all.

DP and I have only DTD once since DS was born, about 2 months ago due to combination of him working away and cosleeping making it difficult. We didnt use protection as I'm EBF and it was kind of a 'fuck it' moment.

Last two days have had awful gas, bloating and weird metallic taste in my mouth. Was burping endlessly in the car and DP said 'haha wow the only time I've seen you this bad is when you were pregnant'. It was just a passing comment but thinking about it I do feel exactly as I did a year ago when in first trimester.

Oh God I'm pregnant aren't I?! I need to take a test but it's 1am and I'm panicking. 5mo is asleep next to me.

Don't even know what I'd do. I'd love another baby but how the hell would we cope with a just 1 year old and a newborn? Oh lordy.

Good luck

NameChangeSoSisCantFindMeAhhhh · 31/12/2017 15:50

Well... I guess that's pretty damn positive.

Really unsure how I feel. Excited at the prospect of another child. Terrified at the idea of having no money (won't qualify for any MA as left my last job before having DS). Not a clue what DP is gunna say.

MiddleClassProblem · 31/12/2017 15:54

Are you getting child allowance? You can get that for the second 2 and you’ll have hand me down stuff from bub number 1.

Just talk to DP. You’ll figure it out together x

brizzledrizzle · 31/12/2017 15:55

Congratulations :-)

I hope that it all goes really well for you.

shivs1974 · 31/12/2017 15:56

Congratulations.

I remember feeling exactly the same when telling dh that I was pregnant with second (18 month gap). He said "We'll get by" and 11 yrs on we have.

TheEagle · 31/12/2017 15:58

Congratulations.

Good luck talking it over with DP.

You’ll manage, money-wise Flowers

I'm sure your DP will be positive, too. He was clearly involved in the process. :)

WOW! Happy New Year OP!

Have you told anyone yet? Apart from the internet I mean!

CormoranStrike · 31/12/2017 16:03

Congratulations!

keepingbees · 31/12/2017 16:04

Congratulations! You'll get your head round it. I got pregnant again when I was still breastfeeding my 9 month old. It's hard work but you'll cope Smile

LaLaLady2 · 31/12/2017 16:04

If it is any consolation my friend is a midwife. She returned from maternity with one child to request maternity leave for her second. Unplanned.

TooGood2BeFalse · 31/12/2017 16:05

The metallic burps were always my clue too OP.

Hope you are ok.Even loving the idea of another child doesn't always mean you are immediately joyful. I hope you talk to your partner soon and it goes ok. Wishing you the very best.Keep talking here if it helpsFlowers

sparklepops123 · 31/12/2017 16:06

Congrats ! Give it chance to get your head round and I’ll bet you’ll be thrilled

Lweji · 31/12/2017 16:07

Ohhhh, he wasn't in the loop.

Although, when I tested for DS I didn't tell OH either. He was somewhat dismissive of my "I feel pregnant" instinct.

I hope it turns out to be a happy event. New year, new baby. Xmas Grin Flowers

GrooovyLass · 31/12/2017 16:07

Wow congratulations!

Tistheseason17 · 31/12/2017 16:09

I went back to work after having DD 18 weeks' pregnant with DS. That went down well! There's 13 months between them.

I won't lie; it's bloody tough to start with, but they're 3 and 4 now and it gets easier all the time.

It's actually great being pregnant with a mostly-immobile eldest child. Far easier than chasing after a toddler whilst massive! #silverlinings

GummyGoddess · 31/12/2017 16:11

Congratulations, once you and your dh have your heads around it you'll be ok. Took my dh about two months to get used to it after a morning after pill failure when dc was 10 months, but now he's really happy and looking forward to it!

With regards to money, lots of unisex clothes for your current child from now on will help a lot, or do you have friends with babies the same age as yours who are looking to pass them on if they're the opposite sex?

Lizzie48 · 31/12/2017 16:11

Congratulations, OP, and good luck talking to your DP. My BIL and SIL at one time had 3 children aged 3, 2, and a baby, and they now have 5. They're all great kids, the oldest 2 are 17 and 16 now! Smile

LilQueenie · 31/12/2017 16:12

Congratulations OP
