To have only just realised I could be pregnant

Posting for traffic. Name says it all.

DP and I have only DTD once since DS was born, about 2 months ago due to combination of him working away and cosleeping making it difficult. We didnt use protection as I'm EBF and it was kind of a 'fuck it' moment.

Last two days have had awful gas, bloating and weird metallic taste in my mouth. Was burping endlessly in the car and DP said 'haha wow the only time I've seen you this bad is when you were pregnant'. It was just a passing comment but thinking about it I do feel exactly as I did a year ago when in first trimester.

Oh God I'm pregnant aren't I?! I need to take a test but it's 1am and I'm panicking. 5mo is asleep next to me.

Don't even know what I'd do. I'd love another baby but how the hell would we cope with a just 1 year old and a newborn? Oh lordy.

Congratulations. I have an Out n About Nipper double and it's fabulous. Third hand and still going strong. Love it.

MrsMotherHen · 31/12/2017 17:40

Lovely news!!!!

Bratsandtwats · 31/12/2017 17:43

Congratulations!

Could be a nice 'stroke of midnight' NYE surprise for your DH?

HippieGoth91 · 31/12/2017 17:45

I was given a leaflet about using breastfeeding as contraception in September, we're EBF. I got a coil 4 weeks post c section, not taking that risk. Pre eclampsia, crippling perinatal depression and anxiety etc not in a rush to do that again tbh. Not saying never just that it'd have to be a well thought out decision. I thought I'd want two very close when I initially fell pregnant though as I love kids.

Good luck OP!

Wow! Congrats!!

DreamADream · 31/12/2017 19:04

Congratulations! There's 12m between my two - I was breastfeeding! God knows how I made it thru the first few years, was on my own too! But it's excellent now they're older!

I was horrified when I went to the gp, but he said a gp friend had the exact same happ3n and the more you talk to people, the more you hear stories about it happening!

HowsAnnie25 · 31/12/2017 19:25

I got pregnant when my little girl was 5 months old. I have an 8 year old and 7 year old now and they are as thick as thieves. It was tricky for a while as eldest didn't walk until gone 18 months so had a couple of non walkers for a while but it's all behind us now and I wouldn't want it any other way. Good luck X

LoopyLou1981 · 31/12/2017 19:25

Congratulations! What lovely NYE news! It’s not as bad as you might think. Mine are 18 months apart and the first 3 months are a shocker but it starts getting easier from then xx

Congratulations! There’s 16 months between DS and DTwins, it can be tough but can honestly say the gap seems to get easier the older they get. All the sleepless night were done with in a (relatively) short time, and it’s nice that they have similar interests at the moment.

Thisisnotreallymyname · 31/12/2017 19:34

I was pregnant again when Dd1 was 6 weeks old !
Had 3 children under 2 yrs 8 months.
Loved it.there are all best of friends now in adulthood.

Moonflower12 · 31/12/2017 19:38

Congratulations! I have 15 months between my 2nd and 3rd. It was full on at first but easier than the gap of 5 years between 1st and 2nd. Xx

Rufus27 · 31/12/2017 19:41

Congratulations OP!

Really interesting and reassuring to hear people's experiences. Out of interest, has anyone had two under two at a more mature age (over 45?). Does it make a difference if you have a small age gap between two and you're an older mum as well?

Choccywoccyhooha · 31/12/2017 19:42

I have 11 months between my eldest two, and have found that far easier than the next gap which is four years. The first 4 or 5 months until ds1 was walking were really hard, but after that it got easier. They share everything, like the same things, and are happy on the same day trips.
I hope you get the result you want.

Chocolatehamper · 31/12/2017 19:48

16 months between my two, EBF daughter - didn’t know I was pregnant until I was 5 months gone!!! I found out at New Year’s too! Hope your OH is excited with the news, congratulations!!! Flowers

NamechangeCongratulations SmileI actually shed a tear when I saw the photo-crazy I know seeing as I don't know you Smile..
I actually miss my five year old being little and never got the new born experience as he was 11 months when I got him and at the time I felt lucky but now I wish I had himfrom brand new (not that I could live him any more)
I think it's perfect having them so close together as they will be close all their lives. Happy New year x

Congratulations!! We have 12months between ours and it was planned. I'm 40 and they're 2 and 3. Much as it's been intense, it's great too. Super pleased for you x
