AIBU to refuse to use my free delivery to buy dd (17) a top that I hate?

DD would pay me back, but I hate it. It's cut basically down to the navel. I'm not going to stop her buying it or wearing it, she's 17, if she wants to she can. But I have annual free delivery from the online shop she wants to order it from, and if I don't order and she wants it, she'll have to pay nearly as much as the top costs just for delivery.

So AIBU not to order it for her? I don't really want wear her going out on New Year wearing something that looks like it's a bit risque for Kim Kardashian. Sure, if she wants to wear it she can.

But I don't see why I have to faciliate it!

Just let her use your free delivery and don't be a meanie. If you don't she'll just go out and buy something else from somewhere else thats just as 'risque'

We all go through this phase at some pojnt in our younger years.

Sigh...ok.

Oh go on OP order the damn thing for her and just hope she doesn't like it .

pauldacresmellsoffarts · 29/12/2017 21:29

She is planning on wearing a mini skirt with that...

Oh, and tights are apparently out of the question.

Can anyone see why I'm quailing a bit here...?

Mrsmadevans, lol! Grin

The only thing I would be worried about with that top is if she had any sort of bust to wrestle all night. That'd look like braces on me!

I bet it arrives and she decides it looks pants, it always looks different on the website.

Mrsmadevans · 29/12/2017 21:30

TBH it isn't that bad honestly. I realise I may have differing levels of modesty to you but I thought it was slashed to the naval this is so much better than I imagined lol

Callamia · 29/12/2017 21:31

With some wide leg trousers and a tuxedo jacket, it’d look totally 90s Cindy Crawford.

She will wear something on her bottom half right? Grin

PerspicaciaTick · 29/12/2017 21:32

I don't like the top either. But you can't tell her that you are fine with her wearing it ("her choice") but only if she's paid full P&P. You are either fine with it, or not...the P&P is beside the point.

Mrsmadevans · 29/12/2017 21:32

yes she is...... a mini skirt it gets better

hahahaIdontgetit · 29/12/2017 21:33

That's not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Go ahead and order it you meany.

pauldacresmellsoffarts · 29/12/2017 21:33

Lol!

Let's just say it's a bit lower cut than I plan on wearing for New Year!

DD is not flat chested so it all looks rather...unsupportive. Confused

pauldacresmellsoffarts · 29/12/2017 21:35

Callamia, she's planning on pairing it with a mini skirt and no tights.

If it was 'wide leg trousers and a tuxedo jacket' I'd be a lot more chilled about the whole thing...

OP posts:
Mrsmadevans · 29/12/2017 21:35

she can use sellotape to stick them down?

Dahlietta · 29/12/2017 21:36

I'm with you, OP! As others have said that she is playing the role of a teenager in wanting to wear something her mother thinks is outrageous, then you can play the role of parent and be outraged by it. If she buys it herself, you can still do this, but you can't really if you have in fact ordered it for her. That spoils the game.

TheTasteOfInk · 29/12/2017 21:37

Ach if only was 21 again.b boohoo stuff is shit anyway so cross your fingers it doesnt fit... actually you said you had a free pass? 90% of their clothes are all cheap shit arse/tits hanging out, so good for you but not her?

Insomnibrat · 29/12/2017 21:39

My Mum was ALWAYS trying to cover me up with a big coat when I went out in my late teens. None of it was 'blaming' or shaming'. I think it's par for the course.

SavageBeauty73 · 29/12/2017 21:39

How petty.

TheTasteOfInk · 29/12/2017 21:40

Gad that sounded so much harsher than I meant. Sorry op

KeepServingTheDrinks · 29/12/2017 21:40

You said "split to the navel" OP. It's isn't at all.

As long as she doesn't have a big belly she'll look gorgeous.

No tights is ridiculous. She'll freeze.

But you do when you're 17, don't you.

neveradullmoment99 · 29/12/2017 21:40

Quite honestly no. I wouldnt pay for delivery of that on the basis of what she is wearing. The top in itself is tarty but the mini skirt combo is sure to attract the wrong attention.

Insomnibrat · 29/12/2017 21:40

TBF, Boohoo is shit, i've had two or three things from there I loved on the website but hated once i'd tried them on.

Wolfiefan · 29/12/2017 21:40

Worried about her safety.
Not worried she may get looked at more.

Ilovecoleslaw · 29/12/2017 21:40

I have so many outfits like this Grin
It could be a lot worse!

blue2014 · 29/12/2017 21:41

Oh I wore much much worse when I was her age, that's positively conservative (I was also a virgin until I was 22 and never experienced any sexual aggression dressing the way I did- maybe lucky I know but still)

Go one, get it - if could be much worse!
