Or do you not wash your feet and legs in the shower?

Just a simple as it sounds. When I have a shower if I am not washing my hair I wash my armpits, the front of my body and my nether regions. Maybe down each arm and sometimes my neck. Literally never ever ever wash my legs unless I am shaving them. Also my feet never ever get washed. Seriously.

My husband thinks I am totally disgusting. Am I being unreasonable here or does the water dripping down my body do enough for my legs and feet? I think it does.

I'm not sure I've ever washed between my toes Shock

Pits and bits are the only places that get soap. Hair washing gets a detergent over the rest of me. I never use soap on my face either and never get spots.

I'm 100% sure my kids would tell me if I smell, let alone the rest of my family the kids are quick enough to tell me if my breath smells

TBF some people do have smelly feet compared to others.

rubbishtalker · 22/12/2017 21:59

It's not so much a conscious decision not to it is just something I have never done

mullmepopcorn · 22/12/2017 22:01

I don't have smelly feet. I don't wash them, unless they are visibly grubby (camping).

I only do the the key areas, everywhere else looks after itself.

cardibach · 22/12/2017 22:02

Like others! I’m surprised to be cleaner tha; the mumsnet collective on this one. I wash everything in the shower.
I do think this, and other threads where people say they wouldn’t use a flannel or shower puff, give us the explanation for those mumsnetters who claim their towels need washing every time they are sued. It’s because they are not clean. They wet the dirt then rub it off with a towel, which then needs a wash. Just wash yourselves! And in response to a PP - I can wash everywhere and still shower and dress in less than 15 minutes, so time isn’t an issue.

FrogFairy · 22/12/2017 22:02

I wash everything when I shower.

Honestly, my feet sometimes smell like I trod in the shit of Satan’s dog. I don’t want my colleagues to be having A Word with me about being a smelly fucker.

lurkingnotlurking · 22/12/2017 22:04

To summarise, it appears that only the stinkers wash thoroughly

Whinesalot · 22/12/2017 22:05

My towels don't smell and I only wash vital areas.

rubbishtalker · 22/12/2017 22:05

lurkingnotlurking

Absolutely!! 🤣🤣

Every part of my body gets washed every day, apart from my hair which is washed every other day. I'm astonished at this thread and the number of people who never wash their legs and feet.

becotide · 22/12/2017 22:07

It's not the stinkers washing thoroughly, it's the people with a sense of smell washing thoroughly

NoSquirrels · 22/12/2017 22:08

Wow. It's actually genuinely never occurred to me that other people might wash their feet in the shower!

If my feet are a) stinky e.g. sweaty for a particular reason or b) dirty e.g. flipflops in summer then I'd wash them specifically in the bath or sink at the time that they needed it e.g. coming in from the street to the house after wearing flipflops, or barefoot in shoes that get smelly.

And I might give them a scrub with some foot stuff or a pumice at the end of a long bath.

But showers are definitely pits, bits, torso and bum and anything lower gets clean by the natural flow of the shower.

No feet issues arise from this regime, I can assure all you foot-washers.

Mind you, I suppose it is good for your balance to practise standing on one foot every morning, so if you don't do yoga then footwashing might serve another purpose.

I am also wondering now what the correlation between footwashers and ironers are, and whether all us drip-effect cleaners are merely lazy with low standards in general.

TheClaws · 22/12/2017 22:08

I live in Australia where it is generally hotter and dustier, so yes, I do. Every day.

MaidenMotherCrone · 22/12/2017 22:11

Do the half arsed washers use the same method when washing dishes?
Bit of fairy at the top of the plate and the water passing over the rest of plate will clean it?

Have a proper wash ya mingers. Are you passing this poor washing habit onto your children?

TheClaws · 22/12/2017 22:12

*Disclaimer: I never stink, even in the 43 degree Celsius days we’ve been having lately Xmas Grin

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 22/12/2017 22:12

Where are people saying they’re thorough washers and stinkers? Confused

I’m not. I’ve never been an overly sweaty person or had smelly feet. But I still wash everywhere daily. Also use a clean towel daily Grin

NoSquirrels · 22/12/2017 22:12

Did anyone teach you this stuff, about what to wash when you shower?

I wonder if I am failing my DC? Because I work on the assumption that if you are old enough to shower not bathe without it being a complete palaver (i.e. showering is unsupervised, and bathing is supervised - because supervising a kid in a shower is a level of pain no one should have to endure) then you are old enough to just figure out what to wash for yourself. This is how I was brought up - hence no foot-washing.

But perhaps other people are instructing their DC in the "proper" way to shower and insisting on foot-washing?

Fascinating. Thanks, OP!

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 22/12/2017 22:14

Bit of fairy at the top of the plate and the water passing over the rest of plate will clean it?

Grin good point!

I don’t iron anything for whoever is doing the spreadsheet.

BrollyDolly · 22/12/2017 22:14

I'm with you OP!

Don't often wash feet or legs in the shower but I do when I have a bath. Wear same boots all season plus flip flops in summer. Feet never smell.

Get hard skin taken off my feet in the summer due to flip flops!

Vitalogy · 22/12/2017 22:15

I noticed a couple of posters mentioning about itchy legs, I get this too, It's only been these past few years though, haven't always had it, anyone got a theory of why this may be happening. Sometimes it's pretty violent itching too. After I've washed and dried them btw.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 22/12/2017 22:17

Dry skin vitalogy? Do you mositurise afterwards?

eurochick · 22/12/2017 22:17

It's interesting that people are saying they smell and so thoroughly wash their feet. It's a bit chicken and egg. Did the smell come first or did it result from the washing?

Fwiw my feet don't smell and I don't really wash them. They get a bit of a soaping when I have taken my toe nail varnish off but otherwise it's pretty cursory.

Haffiana · 22/12/2017 22:17

Itchy legs or back - it is a sort of chilblains. Try using slightly less hot shower water and it should stop.

FruitCider · 22/12/2017 22:18

It seems to be a common misconception that soap removes dead skin. It doesn’t. Only exfoliating and towel drying does that!

I actually can’t use soap, I use dermol cream to wash with and I cowash my hair. Somehow I’m still clean and grease free 😉

froshiechipandbrickie · 22/12/2017 22:18

no yes, I used to get strict instructions on where to wash as a little kid. which included navel, armpits, privates, neck, feet etc but the legs only if they were dirty - muddy - during quick showers.

(Really little, btw. I obviously knew how to do it from a rather young age, seeing as I was reminded before every shower...)

Even for cat showers, btw.

festivedinosaur · 22/12/2017 22:19

@MaidenMotherCrone my feet and legs aren't covered in lasagne sauce and baked on cheese though 😆
