AIBU to spend my Christmas Bonus on Lego? :)

30 years old and have got an unexpected bonus of £350...is it crazy to blow it on a big lego set?

It is I know...I just wanted a moment to dream

DH and I occasionally treat each other to a Lego set - usually only small - and it's fab. Can really bring a smile to our faces even at 28 and 36

The only time I have successfully surprised DH was 2 Christmas ago bought the Death Star for €400 it's now €500.
He literally hyperventilating! I have 2 friends who LOVE Star Wars and would kill for it... but their wives won't let them????
Got him slave one €210 last year.
this Christmas 🎄 he is getting the Ghost Busters firehouse €370. I would love to buy him milemium falcon but that's €800+

IIRC the star wars kits are only released every few years so the e-bay prices go through the roof inbetween those times.

Ask yourself- if my partner has a bonus of £350 and spent all of it on themselves just after an amazing shared xmas and just before.we completed on our.new home together- would they still love and respect me ? Would my actions make them happy? Adulting IS hard. If I were your partner and discovered you'd spent all your xmas bonus on yourself and not discussed it with me- I'd be angry and upset- it would appear to me as though you had thought only of your own pleasure and not shared that good experience with me. ( unless you have already got an arrangement in place that work bonuses are for.the person who earnt them and they keep.theirs)
The.bonus spent on Lego will be divisive- you will get a momentary rush of pleasure by buying it, cause your partner upset and the joy of the Lego will be lost. If.you do not sit down with your partner and discuss what to do with your bonus it.could he a destructive act. You should perhaps say "I've got a bonus- lets treat ourselves with this money hefore we complete on the house...what.would you like to do wiith your half- promise me you'll spend it on something fun! "And judge your actions by that response. I too love lego. But I think you knew the answer to your op before you'd finished posting it. My husband was gifted a significant sum of money last christmas morning- it was unexpected and he promised me and the kids a much waited for family holiday with some of it. Instead he paid for a holiday for himself which he took on his own and the rest paid for his cbt. ( another solo pleasure). While we are at different points in our lives OP, if you think my husbands actions were selfish and showed a lack of respect and love for us- you'd be right. Put your relationship.first and you.may well have a happy future with someone who.shares.your love of lego and will know exactly what you want for xmas for the next 30 Years.

I got an Architecture set

We got these sets for Christmas (for the children, yes, of course, for the children! ) and have already started putting them together. They also came with a free "24 in 1" kit that makes a bunch of smaller bits (christmas kit).

Ds was speechless when he saw The Parisian Restaurant. I clearly did a good job of persuading him that there was no way he’d be getting anything big, legowise this year

AgnesBrownsCat I saw that and would love to get it now, but we just had to replace our television so it's not a great time to be buying more Lego. Such a shame.

I have no idea where it is going to live in our little house.

I've got the train and wanted to get the station to go with it, but it must have sold out really quickly at the sale price and now it's marked as a retired product. It's only been on sale since October!

DS got the Saturn 5 rocket. He gave me the Women of NASA set. I really want the Fishing shop and work in a toy store.

Keeping money in my wallet may prove difficult today.

I got the Houses of Parliament 😊

And New York which we built last night. I'm away for work for 2 weeks now and nobody's opening the big box till I'm back!

Do you want Lego?
Have you space for Lego?

If the answer to all of these is yes, why are you not on your way to the shops now?

Dh and Dd bought me the BB-8 set. I joyfully built it yesterday afternoon. It now lives on my bedside table. It is soooo cute 😍

I bought my daughter the Lego Bb8 weirdcatlady, I’m looking forward to helping her build it . Last year she got walle which is adorable and has pride of place on her bookshelves. Now she would like the carousel and the nasa rocket and so would I .

All this lego talk just drove me to my local Toys R Us and bought myself a big kit to do today! DC with ExH so perfect

These look fab, but what do you do with the sets when you finish them? Do you place them in a case to protect them? Adult Lego virgin here

I got the fishing store which looks amazing but was so daunted by the instruction book it's gone back in the box for now! Helping kids with smaller sets.

I am still coveting the London Bus. And the diner that comes out next week. Shame I've no money left 😀
