AIBU not to understand why girls get their tongue pierced

Can someone persuade me why anyone would want to do this? It is really painful I am told and then you have a piece of metal in your mouth all day every day. It's hardly jewellery either as almost no one can see it.

I got mine pierced because I think it's a pretty piercing. I just like piercings though to be fair.

its a very sexual piece of jewellery. Im sure there are many other reasons, but most of the women i know with pierced tongues got them done in their late teens to seem 'sexy' or 'alternative'. Also, apparently it improves oral sex on both sexes.

Then again, I'm sure lots of people just like them, the same way I love yellow gold and my sister thinks its tacky.

Presumably because they like them? Not my cup of tea but like any other piercing or similar it’s each to their own for adults who can make an informed decision about their own body

Mine wasn’t painful at all. It was the least painful piercing I’ve had actually. I didn’t get mine for sexual reasons like another poster said, but because I was 18 and thought it looked cool. Now 10 years later I wouldn’t be without it. When I had to remove it for an operation recently my mouth felt so weird and empty like something was missing.

Didn’t hurt, easy to keep clean. Fun piercing to have! Just be aware that kissing someone when you both have tongue piercings can lead to entanglement

I got mine done when I was 17 cause everyone else had it 😂..13 years later cant remember what it was like without it. Apparently it improves oral sex according to dp but it can be a bastard when u bite it or the ball comes undone from the stud and you swallow it 😒

I totally didnt get it at 16 for any sexual aspect, it was just the trend then.

Not all piercings are on show or classed as jewellery for people to see. I don't have my tongue pierced but I do have another piercing people never see but I wanted it so got it. Just personal preference I suppose.

I did mine because I moved away from an area where I loved living and needed something else to 'celebrate' and take my mind off it. We are not all vacuous idiots who just think of being cool and blowjobs.
