AIBU not to understand why girls get their tongue pierced

Can someone persuade me why anyone would want to do this? It is really painful I am told and then you have a piece of metal in your mouth all day every day. It's hardly jewellery either as almost no one can see it.

Why?

It's my absolute favourite piercing.

It's one I've always wanted and liked the look of.

It's been the least painful and easiest to heal of all mine

littlepeas · 21/12/2017 14:30

I had a boyfriend with a tongue piercing years ago (just realised it is nearly 20 years ago Shock) - I found it very sexy. Not sure I'd be impressed by it now, but I definitely liked it back then!

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 21/12/2017 14:31

It doesn't hurt at all. I didn't do it for sexual reasons or because it seemed cool. I did it because I liked the look of it.

I also got my tongue piercing because I like the look of it. Didn't hurt, quickest piercing to heal and I wouldn't be without it. If I take it out it makes my mouth feel weird and I end up quite queasy!

areynold · 21/12/2017 14:34

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck Your first sentence reminds me of online comments about bikini waxes. You must be made of metal!

From one who hasn't had it done I find that people who do have it done are always 'playing' with it in their mouths and they talk funny too. Each to their own but I find it ugly.

Xihha · 21/12/2017 14:48

Dsis got hers because her 6th form limited her to wearing one pair of earrings at school and made her take her nose piercings out, so she got her tongue done to see how long before anyone said anything.

DH got his because it was a drunken dare when he was 19. I do find it very sexy (and you can get vibrating tongue bars) but he has a habit of clicking it on his teeth when hes bored which really annoys me.

FizzyGreenWater · 21/12/2017 14:49

Ohhhhhh OP you know FULL WELL why 'girls' get their tongue pierced. Given your previous posting history you are well up on all of these issues.

franktheskank · 21/12/2017 14:49

I wouldn't have it done but I'm not offended by it Grin

An ex had his tongue pierced and it was quite nice in the bedroom Grin

Branleuse · 21/12/2017 14:52

I could never handle that piercing. I just would be too aware of it.
Not everyone is like me though, and it does look pretty cool.
My dp has had two seperate piercings in his tongue at the same time, and was never bothered about the sensory aspect. Its quite nice for oral sex. Theres a different placement according to whether you are likely to give oral sex to a man or a woman

areynold · 21/12/2017 14:53

FizzyGreenWater That's a mysterious comment which I don't fully understand. I have asked about sex and the menopause on MN previous to this question.

But I have learned a lot from the replies to this question already.

Hissy · 21/12/2017 14:55

a pretty piercing

Oxymoron, surely.

areynold · 21/12/2017 14:55

I feel we need to know what the different placements are now!

Also, is Branleuse french for wanker (f)?

OP posts:
Greebz · 21/12/2017 14:58

I got it done because I was an extremely insecure 'cool girl' and I thought it would impress my boyfriend and friends. It's fucked up my teeth and left my tongue a bit numb. I really wish I hadn't got it done Sad I did stuff like this a lot because I wasn't comfortable with who I was. I feel sorry for younger me and wish someone had told me I was fine the way I was!

KathArtic · 21/12/2017 14:59

people who do have it done are always 'playing' with it in their mouths and they talk funny

This^^

And in all honesty they are tacky and common. Who wants to look at a piercing you've licked your boyfriends dick with. And they chip the enamel off your teeth.

areynold · 21/12/2017 15:02

KathyArtic You could say the same about any other part of the body couldn't you? Who wants to look at a mouth that has recently sucked a dick?

OP posts:
MrsFoxPlus4 · 21/12/2017 15:03

Who wants to look at a mouth you’ve sucked a dick with 🤷🏻‍♀️ Don’t presume all girls with tounge piercings are straight

areynold · 21/12/2017 15:05

MrsFoxPlus4 I didn't presume that, but some are! I was replying directly to "Who wants to look at a piercing you've licked your boyfriends dick with"

esk1mo · 21/12/2017 15:05

i had mine done because i’d had everything else pierced by age 20.. it wasn’t sore at ALL. they describe it as a hot knife through butter when it gets pierced.

it does swell for a couple of days, but after that it’s fine. i took it out after a couple of years. some people just like piercings & what to try different ones out. i dont think i would have it again though.

crazycatgal · 21/12/2017 15:06

Why are you only concerned with females getting this piercing? What about men?

shoeaddict83 · 21/12/2017 15:06

i just wanted it doing as i liked the look. It didnt hurt either having it done as they numb your tongue.

shoeaddict83 · 21/12/2017 15:08

and to some other responses, i had the Acrylic bars to avoid the enamel on my teeth being chipped, so again dont assume everyone who has one sits and clicks it against their teeth all day and therefore breaks their teeth Hmm

areynold · 21/12/2017 15:09

crazycatgal Asking about men is also interesting. My guess was that the most common reasons for girls might be different from the most common reasons for boys and as a woman, I am more mystified by girls as I often have no idea why men do what they do Smile.

bambi2908 · 21/12/2017 15:11

I got mine because I like the look of it, how’s that any different to liking the look of ear piercings?
