AIBU not to understand why girls get their tongue pierced

Can someone persuade me why anyone would want to do this? It is really painful I am told and then you have a piece of metal in your mouth all day every day. It's hardly jewellery either as almost no one can see it.

I saw others with the piercing and I really liked it, so I got it done. It was less painful than my ear piercings and you absolutely do not notice it once you've gotten used to it - usually after swelling goes down. I love it and you can see it when I talk and I opt for the bigger sizes balls.

The only issue I've had with it is people thinking I've done it to give better head.

I had mine done because it looks nice. They numb it first so it was actually a lot less painful than any of my other piercings.

Mine wasnt painful.Its a sexual piercing.You know to enhance the experience.

Ohhhhhh OP you know FULL WELL why 'girls' get their tongue pierced. Given your previous posting history you are well up on all of these issues.
You do realise this isn't the reason all girls or rather WOMAN get it done?
There doesn't have to be a sexual reason.
I also do not talk funny Hmm

MrMeSeeks Despite some grumpy posts there has been a very interesting variety of reasons given for why girls/women get these piercings. My previous rather sheltered view would have been that almost no one got the piercings for sexual reasons so I was wrong all round it seems.

Long term dp had one. It didn't improve (or not improve) oral sex at all. I think it was set too far back?

I never was keen on the look.

I have a lot of piercings but not my tongue, I was told it was terrible for your teeth. If that's a myth, I might get it done :)

I had mine done when I was was about 17, because I liked the way it looked. It wasn't painful. It closed over when I was abut 21 (lost the bar when I took it out to clean it), so I had it done again when I could afford it (without the numbing stuff this time, which was much more comfortable after, surprisingly). My mouth also feels really weird and empty now without it. I play with it all the time.

I have my eyebrow pierced too, but am always loosing the bars. Need to stock up on a few next time I'm at the shop that sells them (miles away).

Mine didn't hurt and I didn't get it done for any sexual reasons. I just liked it so had Ymir done 😜

I had mine done. I definitely did not have it done for sexual reasons. I just wanted ti have it done. A couple of years later, I took it out, no real reason. Just didn't want it in anymore.

I hadn't even given a blowjob when I got mine done. I went with a friend who got her nipple pierced, we were just having a laugh, egging other on to be a bit daring and exploring the edges of socially acceptable behaviour. Tongue piercings weren't as ubiquitous in the 90s as they are now.

I took it out after about 8 years as I didn't like it any more but I liked having it most of the time.

I was 14 when I had mine done, it definitely was not for sexual purposes, I liked how it looked & decided to get it done, I've still got it 16 years later! Hardly anyone notices it, I don't talk funny & my teeth are fine, I've also got my nose, lip, multiple in my ears, tragus, nipples & two piercings in my belly button. Different strokes for different folks.

I just wanted it! But both men and women I've dated seem to like it which is just an added bonus. I had my nipples done before as well. Had to take them out a few minutes after my son was born to feed him! Really want them done again!

I had it done but took it out two days after because of the swelling. I started to vomit the day after (not due to the piercing) and I couldn't deal with it.

I had my nipple done very recently. Now that fucker hurt.

DH has his penis done. It's great for sex, more so for him though.

I understand why you'd assume it's sexual.

I had a reverse labret in my lip and had to take it out because I would bite through the acrylic bars when I chewed it.

@WickedLazy eBay! If you know your sizes eBay is awesome for bars/rings etc. I always make sure it's a UK seller but it's where I get all my stuff.

And it means I don't have to go into my local BlueBanana and have a twenty minute lecture about changing a piercing from some twatty goth.

I had mine done twice. Wasn't for sexual or cool reasons I just liked it. I loved playing with it in my mouth. I later learned oral sex was fun with. An ex also had his done so it's fun both ways. Part of me would like it done again but I'm too old and grown up

No tongue piercing but I do have a VCH piercing. Now that's sexual......(and pretty, in my opinion).

A girlfriend got hers done while I was seeing her, didn't make any difference when she was giving me a BJ if I'm honest.
