Lush - I'm too scared to go in!

Help! I'm usually a confident person but for some reason I'm a bit afraid of going into lush!! My DNiece is 8 and wants a few bits from there for Christmas, but what? What's good? Where do I look? What do I ask for?

Everybody seems to knowledgeable with the little packets & wrappers, and it looks like some things get weighed??

AIBU to ask you for help guiding me through what appears to be the slightly weird world of Lush?? Grin

They are expensive but most of the products are handmade using natural ingredients, they certainly aren’t every day use items but make excellent gifts and treats.

As a disclaimer I do not now nor have I ever worked for Lush, I just love their stuff!!

wasMissD · 21/12/2017 11:57

The people who work in Lush are so nice and helpful, they really make your day! They'll know exactly what you need. And you'll probably leave with stuff for yourself Grin

Woooooooo! Well done @op! Great update. Down with smiggle Grin! Vive la revolution... ahem... sorry. Getting a bit carried away.

BadFeminist · 21/12/2017 12:00

Never had a UTI from lush and I exclusively use their body products. My usually dry itchy skin has never been more supple and wonderful.

With the bubble bars, I tend to find they make the most bubbles when you just hold an edge under the running tap until there's enough bubbles. I use the pink swirly one most often and I'll get 6 or more pink baths overflowing with bubbles.

The fidget spinner one the kids can just hold by the wooden peg and it spins under the tap which is cool.

LemonysSnicket · 21/12/2017 12:01

Get her bath bombs, cosmetic catastrophie face mask and sleepy lotion. She’ll love it.

Oh and anything snow fairy.

CaptainChristmas · 21/12/2017 12:02

Thanks for the photo evidence. Also, like your nail polish @op.

LemonysSnicket · 21/12/2017 12:03

And it’s just the soap that gets weighed OP.

Skinandbones · 21/12/2017 12:04

If you were to buy a voucher, all their Christmas stuff is half price in the sale, including the gift boxes.

SparklingSnowfall · 21/12/2017 12:05

In that case I'm going back in the same to get stuff for me!!

SparklingSnowfall · 21/12/2017 12:06

Haha well done sparkling she will be very pleased!

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 21/12/2017 12:13

I find the staff in Lush really in your face, and don't leave you alone. Trust me they'll be more than happy to help you

I've found this. They are very nice and friendly, but I cannot stand being pounced on! I've (politely) walked out of more shops that I can count because of over-attentive sales staff, even if they're lovely!

EspressoPatronum · 21/12/2017 12:14

Yes but which ones?! We must know!

SparklingSnowfall · 21/12/2017 12:25

Just the simple bath bombs that look like a white bear, a little robot one for DS and one of those pink sparkly star shaped wands!

horatioisabrick · 21/12/2017 12:29

I’m sure she’ll appreciate your efforts :)!

I like your nail polish, btw.

(I wish I was capable of applying - and actually wearing - nail polish 🙈)

SparklingSnowfall · 21/12/2017 12:42

Oh I don't do it myself, it's shellac!

I use their shampoo, conditioner and soap and my kids love the Sleepy cream. But I can't go into the stores - I'm not 8 or looking for gifts for 8 year old and the smell overwhelms me and gives me a headache! So I order it all online and pay the £3.95 delivery fee - I consider it a small price to pay to not have to enter the stores...

gingerclementine · 21/12/2017 12:52

I'd get the snowman-shaped solid bubble bath, the rocking-horse-shaped soap and a very glittery pink something (don't have girls) - someone up thread said they do a fairy. That too.

LemonysSnicket · 21/12/2017 12:55

Oh and @Choccyhobnob the bath bombs etc so upset my sensitive skin, the skincare, facemasks and soaps don’t though.... just the bombs ( but I have eczema).

PumpkinSquash · 21/12/2017 13:06

Nothing with glitter in as it doesn't make sense to me to wash glitter down the plughole and potentially into the oceans.
Whether it's environmentally friendly glitter or not.

OddestSock · 21/12/2017 13:11

I love lush too! I’m glad you got sorted.
I have a pot of helping hands hand cream (smells lovely!) on the go all the time & im hoping DH gets me some snow fairy for Christmas.

BadFeminist · 21/12/2017 14:45

In almost all retail shops you get Mystery Shopped. If you don't acknowledge someone within 30 seconds you get marked down. If you don't then approach and introduce yourself you also get marked down.

At Xmas a bad mystery shop can lose staff their bonus.
