Lush - I'm too scared to go in!

Help! I'm usually a confident person but for some reason I'm a bit afraid of going into lush!! My DNiece is 8 and wants a few bits from there for Christmas, but what? What's good? Where do I look? What do I ask for?

Everybody seems to knowledgeable with the little packets & wrappers, and it looks like some things get weighed??

AIBU to ask you for help guiding me through what appears to be the slightly weird world of Lush?? Grin

Good luck today op. I love Lush in principal but I have sensitive skin and even walking by the shop makes me itch

CannotEvenThink · 21/12/2017 09:17

I Love a nice sparkly bath bomb. I have to go for the ones that are more bath melty though because otherwise they can be rather thrush inducing.

Howsthings1234 · 21/12/2017 09:32

OP I adore the scrubee bar. It's coconut shell and ground almonds and body butter and you use it in the shower. It's shaped like a bee. Leaves my skin beautifully soft and means you don't need to moisturise after showering. Treat yourself to one as the smell is gorgeous too! Think it's about £7. I always have to have it when I go in xxx

FlaviaAlbia · 21/12/2017 09:33

Ha, I remember getting the one with seaweed and freaking out when I saw the seaweed floating towards me. I fell off a raft into a big patch of seaweed I had to doggy paddle out of when I was a kid and a disgust of it has stayed with me.

That was a fiver down the drain!

woodhill · 21/12/2017 09:33

I went in my local one and a person assisted me, very expensive

InspMorse · 21/12/2017 09:42

In the TC, go to the ground floor LUSH near BOOTS. It's less crowded. The one near Debenhams is tiny & feels like you are trapped inside an actual bath bomb.

I went to the TC store last week looking for a secret Santa gift for a 10 year old girl and some sleepy lotion for my 4 year old ds who hates sleep! They were so helpful. I went with Snow Angel for SS and they recommended that I just put a bit of lotion on DS chest and temples as it's quite overpowering. Bar one night (overexcited after rotary Santa visited his house!) Ds has slept better than he ever has before! I put a touch on my 11 week DS feet last night and he slept 10 hours straight!

SparklingSnowfall · 21/12/2017 11:11

I've been in!! Nobody looked at me, nobody, pounced, nobody spoke! I must have looked so confident! But I bought.... nothing Blush

It all looked so UTI inducing that now I've got to think of something else! Grin

They sell gift sets. Head towards the back, look for brightly wrapped packaging. Pick the colour scheme most suited to your Neice’s taste - easy Xmas Smile

BertieBotts · 21/12/2017 11:32

I used to know someone who worked at a Lush and she was genuinely enthusiastic about the products, it's not just sales talk.

BertieBotts · 21/12/2017 11:33

Oh no don't worry about UTIs! They are really fine, I promise! :)

WildRosesGrow · 21/12/2017 11:34

Have you tried Smiggle? Think they are pretty up on what 8 year olds like.

Re UTIs, I think if you are prone to them, then anything scented can set them off but most people are fine with Lush type products.

SparklingSnowfall · 21/12/2017 11:36

Off to Smiggle, so sorry for such a disappointing update!! xx

OP posts:
SparklingSnowfall · 21/12/2017 11:36

Also sorry about the kisses!! BlushGrin

TeenTimesTwo · 21/12/2017 11:38

Smiggle! Do you really want to waste spend £5 on a tiny eraser?

Go back to Lush, much better value, honestly.

WishingOnABar · 21/12/2017 11:42

I cant stand Smiggle. Their products are really overpriced tat and pretty much everything ds has bought their has broken within a month. My soul actually shrivels everytime we pass the store and he asks to go in Grin
Honestly OP if you go to lush they sell lovely gift sets all boxed and wrapped, super easy and bound to please

WishingOnABar · 21/12/2017 11:42

**there Blush

CaptainChristmas · 21/12/2017 11:44

Go back to lush immediately op! Smiggle is indeed overpriced, useless tat.

Lush at least makes an effort not to contribute to the growing pile of plastic, polluting the planet! Haven’t you seen Blue Planet II? Stand up to expensive plastic! Go to lush!

Have I missed my calling? Politics or marketing hmmm...

Bath bombs are a bit of a waste of money imo. I find their soap a lot better. You still get a nice smell from them, but none of the glittery stuff, which is actually totally fine by me. I’ve used bubble bars too and they last longer than the bath bombs.

CaptainChristmas · 21/12/2017 11:53

Oh sorry bubble bars are blocks of crumbly stuff. You just crumble a bit of them into the bath instead of dropping in the whole thing.
