Everyone obviously thinks what they are telling you is true but sometimes their sources or opinions are not factually correct.

What is the most ridiculous or bizzare fact/opinion you have seen ?

There is no "trans bashing" or "transphobia" on MN. Do feel free to point it out wherever you see it, MN are quick to delete any posts that are transphobic.

The difficulty may be that you are confusing women discussing the issues about the new gender self I.D. laws with transphobia. It's incredibly popular at the moment to shout down women who try and talk about this and label them transphobes and TERFS. Unfortunately, that doesn't make you correct it just makes you poorly informed.

I was told in no uncertain terms by a poster that I was making up my job as my job did not exist and that unless i told her where I worked, i was lying. No one apparently does my job and I don't know my arse from my elbow. Still doing it 8 years on Grin

Ifailed · 21/12/2017 15:42

I see the thread has sunk to transplaining now. Sadly time to block.

expatinscotland · 21/12/2017 15:43

'That passports must universally have six months validity left on them to be able to travel.

Oh, yeah, that's total bunkum. I came back into the UK via Heathrow T5 and my UK passport had less than a month left before expiry. The agent at immigration just scanned it, checked the face against the photo and gave it back to me.

ThymeLord · 21/12/2017 15:43

I wasn't aware I had employed any particular "debate technique" and regardless, I wouldn't want to derail the thread as there are plenty of others on this subject. I will call out bullshit such as yours each and every time I see it though, because being told to shut up and pipe down and just play nicely is what is leading us blindly into this mess.

Putyourdamnshoeson · 21/12/2017 15:54

Oh FFS why does everything end up with a batch of transwhining?

DoculamentDoculament · 21/12/2017 15:57

Oh FFS can we have one thread without trans nonsense.

expatinscotland · 21/12/2017 15:59

Magic mince! Just 500g feeds more than Jesus's loaves and fishes. You just need to pad it out with lentils.

LaurieMarlow · 21/12/2017 16:03

Oh FFS can we have one thread without trans nonsense.

This. Please.

CurryWorst · 21/12/2017 16:07

No it is not. You understand nothing.

Thisnamechanger · 21/12/2017 16:08

That you can just get counselling.

When in reality there are huge waiting lists or a substantial expense. It is not so easy for some people.

KenForPM · 22/12/2017 23:18

People always seem to mention American things/Americanisms as a really negative thing, calling things “horrible Americanisms” etc. It just makes them sound really snobby. People’s DC using Americanisms in their everyday language is the inevitable result of globalised entertainment. They might not be phrased we use in the UK but American English is still English.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/12/2017 23:37

Only just, Ken Wink

GrooovyLass · 23/12/2017 20:45

There's a bit in the film Inside Out where the girl's facts and opinions inside her head get mixed up. I'm pretty sure that's happened to 50% of MN users! So many have a "this is the way I do things and if you do things differently you're wrong" attitude...

fairgame84 · 23/12/2017 21:34

You are the worst type of neglectful parent if you leave your child in the car while paying for petrol.
You must never ever drink if home with your child because you need to be able to drive them to a&e at all times.

Always call the nspcc with any concerns about a child.
I work in a frontline safeguarding role and have done for 5 years and never had any dealings with nspcc. They don't offer a service in my borough

PoorYorick · 23/12/2017 21:45

A Secret Santa gift for a person you work with with a five pound limit should be the result of hours of soul searching and a unique gift of the heart that strikes deep into the essence of their very personality. There is nothing more insulting and outrageous than buying them chocolate.

Bubbaleo · 24/12/2017 03:08

When you've personally experienced something and even gone into detail, you are wrong because they know
everything in that particular field.
