Just asked OH what his favourite chocolate bar of all time is. His answer: Fry’s Turkish Delight.
I’m not sure I can date someone who ranks that higher than the likes of Dairy Milk, Boost or Galaxy!

Does anyone remember the Marble bar by Cadbury?

Oh I do...it was fabulous!

Allthewaves · 18/12/2017 21:29

Happy days. He would leave my lovely chocolate alone

Bringbeboback · 18/12/2017 21:30

He’s saying that his second option would be a Crunchie. I don’t like those either shudder

No. You've got this wrong. My wife chose me precisely because I'm not fussed about chocolate and can be relied not to eat hers.
A good way to annoy her is to eat an expensive chocolate because she knows it is wasted on me (I don't make a habit of doing this ... quite dangerous.....).

romany4 · 18/12/2017 21:34

My DH LOVES Turkish delight. And Frys chocolate cream. And the most disgusting chocolate of all, Caramac!
I'm a Cadbury girl. Won't touch anything else

Reallycantbebothered · 18/12/2017 21:36

I remember when the chocolate on Fry's Turkish delight was so thick you could actually pick it off....then scoff all the pink gooey sweetand no I'm not 85
And I hate Cadbury chocolate now too it's not proper chocolate now

shorty6768 · 18/12/2017 21:41

Reeses Cups. I win Grin

Glumglowworm · 18/12/2017 21:46

Turkish Delight is what I used to get my mum as a gift she wouldn’t have to share because no one else liked it!

Bloody horrible flowery tasting stuff

EmilyChambers79 · 18/12/2017 21:49

Yabu to like Cadbury, they now use palm oil and you don't get the yummy creamy chocolate taste that you used to. It's like eating chocolate flavoured grease now.

Turkish Delights are nice though. And Dime bars and Minstrels.

Those are the only three chocolate bars that don't make me gag on their synthetic taste!

Triskaidekaphilia · 18/12/2017 23:21

You mentioning Marble has reminded me how much I miss the Galaxy Liaison! It was the same thing but even better because Galaxy Grin

Thekitten · 18/12/2017 23:29

Yabu, cadburys is way too sweet, and galaxy way too rich. Fry's Turkish delight may not be any better but at least it has Turkish delight in it XD

Motoko · 19/12/2017 02:05

I love Fry's Turkish Delight (and the stuff that comes in boxes), and Fry's Cream. It's a shame you can't get the version with the different flavours any more though.

But the best Turkish Delight is made by Chococo who cover rose and lemon squares of Turkish Delight in 67% Madagascan dark origin chocolate.
It's truly decadent.

HashtagTired · 19/12/2017 02:58

Boost?! No. YABU with your suggestions of alternative.

Had to be Crunchie, double decker or starbar (do they still make them?!)

SouthWindsWesterly · 19/12/2017 02:59

Mine likes fry’s TD which is why he’s getting 12 individually wrapped for Christmas morning

TenancyTroublesAgain · 19/12/2017 03:22

Yanbu they look nice but in reality they are sickening.

EnidButton · 19/12/2017 03:24

YABU. Cadbury's chocolate doesn't deserve to carry that name anymore, it tastes too sweet, fake and claggy and Kraft are fuckers.

CommanderDaisy · 19/12/2017 03:49

Reece's Pieces. I refuse to buy bags of them as I will binge eat them all.

Drivemecrazy1974 · 19/12/2017 06:37

Fry's Turkish Delight is LUSH! But, only as long as it has been put in the fridge prior to eating. My husband disagrees, says I'm weird for eating it! Wouldn't LTB over it though! Mind you, he also thinks gherkins and olives are rank, so he obviously has little taste!

LellyMcKelly · 19/12/2017 06:43

You poor woman. Nobody should have to live like that. LTB. Pray for Bringbeboback.

Be3Al2SiO36 · 19/12/2017 08:11

Fry's Turkish Delight.....ah......I so loved the adverts from the 1980's

I think also they are one of the lowest bars in calories, sugars and fats?

LittleLionMansMummy · 19/12/2017 08:22

Yanbu. Would you consider going to counselling with him?

Sadly, that's not an option for me and my mum, who also has extremely questionable taste in chocolate. Not only does she love Turkish Delight, but I can add liquorice, Walnut Whips and Bounties to her list of sins. I sometimes wonder how I turned out so normal with her as a role model.

A packet of Maltesers is my favourite tipple. The devouring possibilities are endless with those things.

Mulberry72 · 19/12/2017 08:24

Turkish Delight, Dairy Milk, Boost & Galaxy are all high up on the shitness scale.

So, YABU.

Bringbeboback · 19/12/2017 08:30

It seems I have well and truly split everyone who has posted down the middle with their love/hatred for Cadbury’s and Turkish Delight.
There is a box of Guylian seashells on the desk at work and I’m definitely going to have to gorge soon

We must have been! (you weren't born in Scotland in the very late 60s were you?)

No Dot - North East in the early fifties - of course, they allowed labour to go on a lot longer in those days before medical intervention! Grin

The fruity five centres bars were the delight of myeline. I used to save up to buy one . . . I don't know why they discontinued them. I can still taste the pineapple cream and rich dark chocolate melting on my tongue . . . it was a sad day that they went to the Great Chocolate Box in the Sky Sad
