Just asked OH what his favourite chocolate bar of all time is. His answer: Fry’s Turkish Delight.
I’m not sure I can date someone who ranks that higher than the likes of Dairy Milk, Boost or Galaxy!

Yikes. Where did you find him?

Abijam · 18/12/2017 20:30

Cadbury is definitely awful these days. I was thinking this to my self recently. My all time fav is Ferrero Rocher. I could eat a mountain of it! My DH is not a really sweet fan. He'd rather give his share to me or our DD.

Lovemusic33 · 18/12/2017 20:33

YABU, Turkish delight is way better than dairy milk.

Goodgriefisitginfizzoclock · 18/12/2017 20:39

This has reminded me ( as if needed reminding if the dissapoinmeant) of the removal of Brazil nut toffee from quality street last year! Not over it - Christmas is ruined

dotdotdotmustdash · 18/12/2017 20:40

Poor OP, you've obviously forgotten what Cadburys used to taste like. The current recipe is oily and nasty with the exception of Flakes which are apparently still made in their original factory to the old recipe.

Turkish Delights are delightful, but the best of all is a Fry's Cream.

GoReylo · 18/12/2017 20:42

I would rate lard higher than current day Dairy Milk.

Bringbeboback · 18/12/2017 20:42

Does anyone remember the Marble bar by Cadbury? Think it was discontinued about 18 years ago. Tasted just like the Guylian Seashells mmmmm

Massive red flag

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/12/2017 20:44

I LOVE Fry's Turkish Delight.

It is second only to Fry's Chocolate Cream in my estimation.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/12/2017 20:46

Oooh! Just read your post Dot I had posted in defence of FTD before I'd read the full thread)

I wonder if we were separated at birth? Grin

SandAndSea · 18/12/2017 20:46

The good news is that in a chocolate emergency, you're more likely to get what you like.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/12/2017 20:47

I quite like lard GoReylo

We must have been! (you weren't born in Scotland in the very late 60s were you?)

My DM used to buy us Curly Wurlies and herself a Fry's Cream every Friday night and I used to beg at her feet for a piece, but rarely got any. Love them now and really miss the Five Centres version.

Reflexella · 18/12/2017 20:52

Yep totally reasonable. No way would I allow him to kiss me with those soapy lips shudder

Papergirl1968 · 18/12/2017 20:57

I’ve recently rediscovered Fry’s Turkish Delight! My grandmother used to give me half of one when I was a child. Now I scoff a whole one in seconds.
I also love Fry’s chocolate creme. The orange version is to die for but you can’t find them in many places.
And I’ve seen mini eggs in the shops already!

feska5 · 18/12/2017 21:02

I’m going back a bit here. Who remembers Cadbury’s Bar Six ? Or Cadbury’s Milk Tray in a bar? It was a real treat to have one of those.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 18/12/2017 21:02

A Texan anyone?

tillytrotter1 · 18/12/2017 21:02

I was shocked to learn that Green and Blacks now is owned by Cadbury, where will I get my hot chocolate now?? My all time favourites are Bendicks Bittermints and also a Hotel Chocolat tasting box, bliss. Galaxy is simply slime and Cadbury is disgusting too, I'll be glad when the grandchildren have finished their Celebrations

Bringbeboback · 18/12/2017 21:04

@feska milk tray in a bar?! That sounds epic!!!

Dh buys me coffee flavoured chocolates and turki s h delight for my birthday. Apparently this makes me a freak.Grin

IHeartDodo · 18/12/2017 21:07

Not as bad as what my DP did this week! (not decided whether or not to LTB)
Our cleaner gave us a box of celebrations for Christmas, and he opened them without me and ate all the snickers and teasers!!!!!
He couldn't understand why I was angry he'd opened them - saying "they were for both of us, I only had a few" and I was like "well I bet it was all the good ones though wasn't it?" .... cue a sheepish look and "er.. which ones do you think are the good ones?"...
Not impressed. He's lucky I didn't eat him.

feska5 · 18/12/2017 21:17

It was! bringbeboback. It had strawberry creme fudge, orange creme, caramel, almond whirl, the much talked about Turkish delight and my favourite a lime barrel - all in the right shapes just like in the box of chocolates and all for 10p!! It was a real treat ☺️

Bringbeboback · 18/12/2017 21:19

@feska sounds like the dream (minus the Turkish delight)

OP posts:
FloControl · 18/12/2017 21:26

Toffee Crisp is still reasonably decent. And the purple-wrapped Milka bars. I don't know if either contain the dreaded palm oil, mind.

Maelstrop · 18/12/2017 21:27

Texan anyone?

Proper sweets!

OP, it's clear that your husband is a freak. Leave him before he infects you.
