I’m 39 next month. Would love another child but need IVF. Send me your stories to give me hope that I’m not too old and it will work!

39 and I was the youngest in my NCT group. I expected to feel really old and couldn't believe I was the baby of the group.

Barabajagal · 10/12/2017 20:53

41 when I had my last. It wasn’t a tough pregnancy either - pretty straightforward.

turkeyboots · 10/12/2017 20:53

I was 30, but my MIL was 46 when she had her last, and my granny was 47.

First at 38, second at 40, third at 41 (almost 42).
No issues at any point. Low risk at all screenings. Plenty of energy - don't notice any difference at all between me and younger friends.
20, 30, 40; if it works for you just do it.

  1. I was the oldest on the maternity ward by several years and felt ancient. My granny had a baby at 43 though.
Breezy1985 · 10/12/2017 21:01

I had my second and last at just turned 20, my mum had my little sister at 43, she's younger than my DC.

35 - but just off the top of my head I have 6 friends and acquaintances who have had babies over the age of 40 over the last couple of years. Only one of whom had IVF to my knowledge. My colleague just had a baby (conceived naturally, quite a surprise as not TTC) three months before she turned 50! Her 24y DS wasn't too impressed, mind Grin

  1. Know lots of mothers older than I am/was though.

I’m 29 now and had my last (I think!) at 25. I’m still very much in the minority of my age group in having any children at all here though. 90% of the people I was at school with still aren’t remotely thinking about babies.

I gave not the slightest fuck what age other women on my ward were. I find it odd that you’d even notice.

Where do you live??

fountainblue · 10/12/2017 21:20

38 now and am pg with my last. I had my first at 19 and it was easier physically as a younger mum. Never had any fertility or miscarriage issues.

Fruitboxjury · 10/12/2017 21:21

First at 32, 2nd and last at 35. Felt like they were the right times for us.

Whatnonsenseisthis · 10/12/2017 21:22

Good luck OP.

I was 34 with my last, am 37 now and toying with the idea of a third... but what if it's twins?? Shock

IHATEPeppaPig · 10/12/2017 21:26

@chiaseeddisapointmentagain why post if you weren't trying to be helpful? Surely that's the point?
