I don't understand the hype about Yorkshire?

Is it just me to be fed up with continuous hype about Yorkshire?

TV programmes devoted to the county etc etc. I spent some time up there recently and feel the South West, where I'm from, has far more to offer.

Have you tried Yorkshire Airlines?

The perfect villages and rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, the rugged, wild beauty of the North York Moors, the ancient architecture of York...? Yes, definitely over-hyped.

I'm Scottish so Yorkshire is quite far south for me but I visited North Yorkshire a few years ago on holiday and loved it.

I love Yorkshire (and I'm from Lancashire so I don't say that lightly), but I'm not sure I've seen that much hype about it!

Everybody knows Yorkshire is God's own county. Those of you who live in other areas, especially the benighted south, may simply stand aside and weep.

I’ve lived in both. Yorkshire every time. Also you do know it’s a big place? I doubt you’ve been to all of it. But anyone who can stand on the cliff tops near Staithes and see the curvature of the horizon and not think ‘wow’ is actually made of stone

Umm-well Yorkshire dales are in Yorkshire. The rest of his hasn't much to offer, not more than other places that is but the Yorkshire sales are lovely.

I think I agree with Reinette. Most of my UK holidays were crap too, though I only visited Devon/Cornwall a few times. The one really good week away we had in the UK, if not intended exactly as a holiday, was to Sheffield! If I could wind the clock back to those days before austerity and Brexit, I would totally live there.

I haven't seen hype as such, more of a pride - and a genuine surprise by some that somewhere actually exists outside London with good food, fab scenery and great culture. YANBU to not like it, personal taste and all, but its a pretty big place so its a bit ungenerous to say nothing floated your boat up here. Tbh, I think its easy to find something lovely everywhere I go, but maybe thats just the friendly northener in me

Of course it's not, it's fucking amazing we have everything anyone could wish for including decent jobs and affordable housing and we are quite happy for the it's grim up north myth to continue so it doesn't get ruined by too many southeners coming up here and spoiling things.

I'd love to watch some tv about my beautiful beautiful Yorkshire. When are these programmes on OP? Oh and I'd advise you to stay in the south. "Yorkshire's not just a place, it's a state of mind."
