They weren't a thing when I was growing up, so no warm fuzzy memories attached to them. I look at them and all I see is the worst of disposable fashion made for pennies in Bangladeshi sweatshops. FFS, clothes specifically designed to be worn once as a joke? No wonder the world is goung to hell in a handcart.

I always wondered who bought those Asda gnomes, you are sitting on a goldmine with them. Wink Grin

I have found a review of the Teddy Bear Pillowcase-

Teddy Bear pillowcase
Great quality great price my dog loves it in his bed

Room of choice: Living room
✔ Yes, I recommend this product

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2017 21:44

Some people’s husbands buy them diamonds at Xmas month mine got me an Asda gnome last year and I’ve never loved him more Grin

You’re not putting me off the pillows you know....

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2017 21:46

I think you should get the pillows and test drive them. See if you get a hot furry patterned face in the mornings.

Ironfloor · 02/12/2017 21:47

The other day, saw a Christmas bath mat in Aldi. Wtaf?

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2017 21:48

Aldi you say?

TooManyPaws · 02/12/2017 21:50

I don't do high tack normally but I have an incredibly tacky jersey from B&M last year of skiing penguins to which I added extra tinsel and baubles just for CJD at work. That will be coming out again this year.

I also buy a classier version each year as it was traditional in our family to have a new one to dress up in on Christmas Day. It's then worn for years as a normal one.

I have a thing about pyjamas and bedlinen and love having a large linen cupboard, plus the inherited stuff. New jammies for Christmas Eve and this year I fell for cute Christmas cats on a duvet set too, but then they will be used again and again. Likewise my Spode Christmas Tree and Portmeirion China bits and the table linen, both bought and inherited, some I embroidered myself.

Everything gets reused; nothing is just thrown out.

Oh God I absolutely hate them and I love Christmas.

They used to be a joke and that's where they should have stayed.

Rudi44 · 02/12/2017 21:58

It's not just Christmas jumpers made in sweatshops. I don't own a Christmas jumper but my DD has one and will wear it every bit as often as perhaps a summer dress brought for a holiday.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 02/12/2017 22:00

I've just reread that HD, one of the trees? How many have you got?

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2017 22:00

Draylon I guess it depends. I’ve always bought one new Xmas thing each year for the house. Since the children were born they get an ornament each year so when they leave home to set up their own, they have their own stuff with memories to take with them. If we go anywhere significant or on holiday we generally pick up a Christmas ornament as a memento.

So yes, I do have twenty years worth of tat but it’s accumulated tat with significance. Smile

HD has a Christmas tree in the bathroom. Fact.
The main bathroom mind, not the ensuite. That would just be gauche.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 02/12/2017 22:05

We have a 2ft tree on the dining table, because some of us don't live in Buckingham Palace. Xmas Grin

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2017 22:05

I don’t now Sad Dh put it in the kitchen he said trees are only allowed in places where you can put presents .....ridiculous logic imo.

What Dh doesn’t know is that when he wakes up in the morning he will find it in his armchair Grin

StarWarsFanatic · 02/12/2017 22:06

I have some that I have bought and wear throughout December, we are allowed to wear them instead of uniform in work and they are warmer & more comfortable. Mine get brought out every year and I will wear them until they are threadbare but I also wear them around the house in January. Rest of the year I don't wear jumpers. When I have kids I will probably knit theirs (too big) they can wear until they don't fit & then pass them on.

I agree with the principle though.

Mijkl · 02/12/2017 22:06

Yanbu!!

Summerisdone · 02/12/2017 22:07

I’ve got 2 Christmas jumpers, one of which I’ve had for 5 years now and the other is 2 years old, so they’ve both been worn quite a lot and aren’t just for a once wear.

Due to the age of my son (3), he has had a new one each year but I’ve donated all of his old ones to a charity shop and I even managed to buy his last year one from the same charity shop. I would buy him a second hand one each year, though it’s not always easy finding something so specific and in a specific size in a charity store.

In regards to PJ’s, I will buy DS and I a new set each December, but then they will be used constantly no matter the time of year as we’re at home and nobody is going to see us in them anyway Wink

seafoodeatit · 02/12/2017 22:08

YANBU, you'd only be U if you insisted everyone else agreed! I love Christmas 'tat'. It makes me happy, and I don't think Christmas jumpers are ugly either Shock , cartoon themed ones aren't a family tradition but we always got new chunky hand knitted ones from family along with knitted slippers( not from the UK originally though.) ...the rest of the year it all goes in the loft, that's all we use it for - camping gear, seasonal clothes and Christmas stuff.

Ironfloor · 02/12/2017 22:09

Honey dragon - yes, Aldi. Better get thee to your closest Aldi fast, as they were running low on the hideous bath mats.

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2017 22:12

They are properly hideous though, yes? It would defeat the point if they were tasteful.

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2017 22:12

How about completing the festive bathroom with one of these?
