To hate Christmas jumpers and pyjamas

They weren't a thing when I was growing up, so no warm fuzzy memories attached to them. I look at them and all I see is the worst of disposable fashion made for pennies in Bangladeshi sweatshops. FFS, clothes specifically designed to be worn once as a joke? No wonder the world is goung to hell in a handcart.

I have Christmas t-shirts and a jumper and a dress. I'll start wearing them in early December and until the end of the month

Valerrie · 03/12/2017 22:35

I have four sets of Christmas bedding for the four week run up to Christmas, so does DD. We have Christmas socks, slippers, knickers, t-shirts, jumpers, hats, jewellery, hair bits, PJs and loo roll.

I couldn't give a flying fuck what people think. It's my house, my body, my choice and I'll do whatever the hell I like Smile

Funnily enough, my house is actually decorated tastefully and is minimalistic but the children l teach love my Christmas clothes and accessories.

I actually want a Christmas jumper myself this year lol but I know exactly what you mean! It'll be worn for one day and then collect dust! Seems like school is just one big expense but we will buy our child a Xmas jumper so that she feels included regardless..madness!

ReasonableLlama · 03/12/2017 22:38

Does the same go for wedding dresses? I can't speak for anyone else but I've only worn mine once in public

HoneyDragon · 03/12/2017 23:50

My Christmas jumper I wore today.

I bought my wedding dress, wore it once then sold it for more than I paid for it.

Valerrie · 04/12/2017 07:51

I didn't have a "wedding dress". Absolutely hate them. I hate everything about traditional weddings.

I had a lovely, normal dress and have worn it loads since.

GaucheCaviar · 04/12/2017 09:32

Actually for maximum smug points I had a wedding dress made from recycled vintage fabric Smile

Never a pretty top to wear on a night out? A party dress?

No. It's not compulsory to buy most stuff, you know. I borrow / make / upcycle or, at a pinch, buy from a charity shop.

I know it’s not compulsory. I just wondered whether you had ever bought anything you didn’t strictly need

Ecureuil · 04/12/2017 09:33

My wedding dress was also vintage (1960’s).

GaucheCaviar · 04/12/2017 10:13

Not really, or only very occasionally. I can't remember the last time I bought clothes new from a shop, it must have been several years ago.

I find it really odd that you think that's something to be smug about

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 04/12/2017 13:09

GingerbreadMa school have made it clear it's Christmas jumper or uniform. They'd be the only ones in uniform. Please read my posts. Xmas Hmm DD rarely wears a jumper at other times, she doesn't seem to feel the cold, on mufti days she doesn't take one. DS2 loves his stormtrooper-with-a-Father-Christmas-hat-on jumper, and would wear it every day if he could.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 04/12/2017 13:12

Blue don't buy jumpers with the year on? DD's says "#Elfie", DS2's says "Star Wars" with snow on the top of the lettering. Xmas Hmm

Ecureuil · 04/12/2017 13:29

I’ve never seen a Christmas jumper that says the year. They’re usually just generic snowmen/reindeers etc aren’t they?
