I was reading the 'broken ankle' thread and was amazed at how many people have broken their ankles or tibula/fibula.

I mean, I know people break bones all the time , but honestly, before my car accident at the age of 39 I had only had a green fracture in my arm at the age of 4.

So here I am thinking I'm all unique Grin with all my broken bones, but I'd actually really like to know about other peoples'.

I'll go first (this was in the car accident in January):

R collarbone
2 ribs (one in two places)
R pelvis
R femur (upper leg)
R tibula/fibula (lower leg)
L femur
L heel

Obviously I'm held together by a lot of metal at the moment Grin but it's better than a head injury or being dead (obviously). And for some reason I am super proud of my scars.

Please tell me your stories? Smile

Never broken a bone, am nearly 40! Reading this thread has me wondering if I am overly cautious!

AWhistlingWoman · 02/12/2017 20:41

allegretto Shock
I am wincing just reading that!

stuckfornames · 02/12/2017 20:45

Left collarbone when I was 9.

Biking down an alley way, car pulled up at the house just at the bottom of the alley. I didn't brake in time and crashed into the side.

4 days before Christmas - I was brought a scooter and pogo stick that year Sad

Funnily, I have now moved into that house (well I was 19 when we moved here). So I broke my collarbone 15 years ago, outside a house I have lived in now for 5 years.

It seems that I have been luckier than most but have had my fair share.
Broke left arm when about 12 , I was trying to get a horse to go over a jump , I went over the horse did not !
Not a broken bone but knocked myself out for about 8 mins when working in a barn stacking hay bales and walked into a rafter .
worst by far cycling on a main road when a car pulled out to turn right from my left hand side, I hit the cars wing , bonnet ,roof , boot ( diagonally over the car )
4 inch fracture to the scull even though I was wearing a helmet , unconscious for almost a hour.
broken clavicle / torn tendon and muscle around it .
2 broke and one fractured rib,
broken little finger and one next to it.
Fortunately I recovered ok but still have some problems with movement in my shoulder, the accident was about 20 years ago.

BanjoStarz · 02/12/2017 21:10

Many tiny bones in my left hand - fell of a gallop horse and ended up underneath it...so it's stamped all over me.

Tibial plateau (the bit at the top of the tibia the knee sits in) had to be pinned, two surgeries later and they're talking about replacing the knee...horse riding accident again.

Tbh, given the silly things I've done both on horses and off of them I think I've done quite well 😂

CremeFresh · 02/12/2017 21:12

A fractured bone is just the medical term for a broken bone - they are one and the same thing.

As you were Smile

kateyjane · 02/12/2017 21:13

Megclearly- I broke my scaphoid 12 years ago. It's fine now, however, I did have it in plaster for 15 weeks. It hadn't even moved together after 6. Sorry!

isseywithcats · 02/12/2017 21:15

managed to have an argument with a ladder and the floor at work on thursday (i clean a commercial kitchen) and have broken a small bone in my wrist, first broken bone in my life

Topaz89 · 02/12/2017 21:15

My little toe on the right. I stubbed it and it was sooooo painful!!

AuditAngel · 02/12/2017 21:17

I broke my first bone this summer at the grand old age of 48, my little toe after I stubbed it on the sofa on holiday

expatinscotland · 02/12/2017 21:17

Two metatarsals in my left foot together with the ankle. Coccyx. Skull. Nose.

Have also dislocated my kneecap, torn most of the meniscus in one knee and completely tore the ACL in the right one which needed surgically reconstructed. Those hurt way worse than breaking any of those bones.

Llanali · 02/12/2017 21:23

Every finger except my thumbs.

Every toe except big toes.

Collar bone, shoulder blade, both wrists, several metacarpals and meta tarsals.

Nose three times, eye socket, chipped jaw.

Left ankle.

Seven different ribs in three different incidents.

Coccyx and sternum- these are by far and above the most painful ones ever. Ever.

Well, if I will keep horses and go skiing....

TheNoodlesIncident · 02/12/2017 21:25

Not fractured anything yet.

I've been in car accidents, bicycle v. car accidents, come off horses. As a kid I jumped off single storey roofs, out of trees, etc. I must have been very lucky.

MegCleary · 02/12/2017 21:56

@kateyjane cheers for the reply, am now crapping self!

Persemillion · 02/12/2017 22:00

Both wrists, horse riding accidents. Last one needed a surgery and a metal pins.

MirandaWest · 02/12/2017 22:06

I've broken both my little toes a few times

anotherprosecco · 02/12/2017 22:11

Stubbed my little toe and broke it, right little finger knuckle ski-ing, major break of upper humerus bone, had to have partial shoulder replacement after that. Never been the same since, can't lift that arm above shoulder level.

pollywollydoodle · 02/12/2017 22:43
