Some of us quite like to watch and read the news though, but at the moment it's been taken over with celebrity gossip.

Then you'd realise that a Royal wedding IS actual news, it's still news, even if you disapprove of this fact and only want news tailored to what you're interested in hearing about.

I sat with friends yesterday evening and on and on it went, popping up on different channels no matter where we searched for some real news. Not one of us gave a damn.

I found her awful arch-back, stick chest out, stick bum out, smile-on-demand hollywood wave utterly trashy. And I don't know what was going on in Harry's mind, but he looked terribly awkward and a bit worried.

Thank goodness for this thread - I was feeling quite lonely n the other place. What really pisses me off is being called bitter, joyless, mean and accused of spoiling others joy just because you are a Republican and express those views. The joy I am getting out of the whole shindig however is that some of the most feverent royalists in England ( sic) are some of the biggest racists so will not know which way is up at the moment.

As people, I wish them well. As royals, I can't stand this fawning and flag waving. I mean, yay, two vastly privileged people most of us will never know personally are getting hitched using public funds at a time of austerity, let's splash it over the entire breadth of the media for fucking ages until everyone but the most hardened royalists are heartily sick of it. Where are you getting your news? I've read today's Guardian and listened to the Today programme. the later barely mentioned it, if at all.
