I don't care if they got engaged or hey went to the moon, I'm sick of the constant media nonsense about them already

the gov will be delighted, finally something to take attention away from the fuck up that is brexit

It’s very easy to ignore, turn your tv off, don’t buy a newspaper. Stay off social media. We should all ignore it and it will go away.

JeReviens · 28/11/2017 09:13

Meghan just looks like another airhead like kate middleton

This is the kind of stupid small-minded comment that makes you stand out as a bit of a knobber tbh. You don't know her. In fact she seems extremely eloquent and intelligent - and she's almost certainly richer and better connected than you Grin Grin
Why do people think it's ok to pass bitchy disparaging comments about people they don't know? It makes you sound so unpleasant!

hmmmmm · 28/11/2017 09:14

I think Meghan has a smack Pippa.

I see there are commemorative mugs already. Great.

hmmmmm · 28/11/2017 09:16

Ds2 had breakfast news on this morning and they were being interviewed. Meghan came across as very articulate and bright.

JeReviens · 28/11/2017 09:16

I think Meghan has a smack Pippa

What does that even mean?

hmmmmm · 28/11/2017 09:18

Looks a little like Pippa Middleton. Might just be me but I think she does.

formerbabe · 28/11/2017 09:21

Between this and the next baby, next spring will be a royal cringe fest, thank goodness I'm not in the U.K.

Oh yes, thank goodness you won't be in the UK, otherwise you'd almost certainly be roped into babysitting and bridesmaid duties...phew!

Creambun2 · 28/11/2017 09:22

@JeReviens

Oh yes I'm sorry we should all bow to our betters in life like the royal family.

FFS for all the talk of modern Britain one royal announcement seems to bring many people back to lords and servants cap doffing style.

Delighted for them, beautiful couple & so in love.

southeastdweller · 28/11/2017 09:27

Grin at the weird conspiracy theorists saying this was planned to distract from Brexit coverage. How stupid.

Willow2017 · 28/11/2017 09:28

Yet you started a thread to discuss them?

Its a bit of happy news which is much needed these days if you dont like it dont read about it ( or start a thread discussing them)

Do people actually base thier opinion on the fact she is a beautiful woman and an actress = airhead? She has other aspects to her life too and is very articulate. Anyway Harry is marrying her because of who she is he isnt asking anyone on here's views on her or thier approval😀

Alittlepotofrosie · 28/11/2017 09:31

n fact she seems extremely eloquent and intelligent - and she's almost certainly richer and better connected than you

Oh the irony.

Battleax · 28/11/2017 09:32

The scale of the hoopla is always what makes royal events unbearable.

Vitalogy · 28/11/2017 09:36

We honestly need to stop giving this shite our energy. Haven't we got more important/worthwhile things to concentrate on.

QueenUnicorn · 28/11/2017 09:36

You realise you just added to it all?
I haven't watched much news so was told by my Nan. Other than a few complaining threads on mumsnet I haven't seen anything.

Battleax · 28/11/2017 09:41

We honestly need to stop giving this shite our energy. Haven't we got more important/worthwhile things to concentrate on.

Well, someone could launch a foidbank drive in hounour if the engagement. That would be useful.

Or I might simply decide to do clenches every time they're mentioned. Also useful Grin

Yazi23 · 28/11/2017 09:44

I'm sick of all the cretins coming out of the woodwork claiming to be friends of the family. Paul Burrel vomits

nadinexo1 · 28/11/2017 09:48

if you're so fucking sick of them then why start a thread abiut them and talk about them even more?!
The papers are going overboard about it but after the first two articles I stopped reading.
Also generally speaking it's a sad fact that more people would've been happier had she been British blonde haired and white. I for one am so fucking glad she's none of those things, it's funny watching people get all huffy that she doesn't fit the 'ideal'

HamishBamish · 28/11/2017 09:50

YANBU. I think their engagement is great news and I'm happy for them, but the media is going completely over the top. It must be so overwhelming for them. The next few months aren't going to be easy.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 28/11/2017 09:51

I saw her giving a 'speech' on TV yesterday and she didn't strike me as being too bright. So, ideal for the Royals then!

H & M are going to be milked by the press now, I can already see the thinkpieces in the weekend's papers. As you say, to help divert us from Brexit.

BadTasteFlump · 28/11/2017 09:52

I'm sick of it too but I disagree that it's easy to avoid.

I still want to watch tv, read the news and use social media, but it's literally everywhere.

Actually what annoys me is the constant repeating of information. Fair enough if something new happens, but the BBC seemed to have the interview on repeat last night - and this morning. Even if you love the royals, surely that gets boring?

Read The Guardian instead of the Daily Fail then. Has barely made the front page.

Dahlietta · 28/11/2017 09:55

*To be fair, it’s really not.

Yeah, it kind of is. Read a book instead, or put a favourite cd on, or a boxset.*

Some of us quite like to watch and read the news though, but at the moment it's been taken over with celebrity gossip.
