I don't care if they got engaged or hey went to the moon, I'm sick of the constant media nonsense about them already

the gov will be delighted, finally something to take attention away from the fuck up that is brexit

OP posts:

Don't read it then. It's a really simple concept that you seem to struggle with seeing as you started an entire thread about it.

I'm fucking sick of idiots on Mumsnet. I just scroll past them... On most occasions 😉

Alittlepotofrosie · 28/11/2017 08:16

Good news for who? It's not good news for me. Its irrelevant to the vast overwhelming majority of people in this country yet the media have got people so invested in keeping the rich rich and the poor poor and the masses fall for it.

AnnabellaH · 28/11/2017 08:17

@ssd why so bitter?

ShatnersWig · 28/11/2017 08:17

Couldn't believe the number of threads here about it yesterday, like no one thinks to try the search function. I'm not a Republican but the coverage has been so ridiculous. It needs an announcement and maybe an official photo and that's it. We don't need hours of radio time and pages of newsprint dissecting every detail of the engagement ring etc. Just fuck off until the wedding.

littlehandcuffs · 28/11/2017 08:18

If you're sick of it why start a thread to discuss it???

moutonfou · 28/11/2017 08:19

I was excited when I heard the news and thought "aww that's nice." But I don't really need 20 more articles of in-depth (and mostly speculative) coverage.

Even the BBC is sounding like the Daily Mail: 'How Prince Harry designed Meghan's ring: not the first Royal to be inspired by family diamonds', 'Ms Markle wore a white belted coat.'

HuskyMcClusky · 28/11/2017 08:19

Yeah, it kind of is. Read a book instead, or put a favourite cd on, or a boxset.

Not sure that something qualifies as ‘easy to avoid’ if it requires avoiding the entire internet.

It’s way overexposed, is the point.

AnnabellaH · 28/11/2017 08:20

@alittlepotofrosie Hmm

Or it's because Prince Harry is a massive traffic spinner and they're trying to engage and entice people with their specific coverage of the news.

And it is VERY good news for you. The extra revenue a Royal wedding brings in to the country and the local economy is bloody massive.

Don't be such a div. This is a huge money spinner for the UK - mostly as a whole.

PumpkinSquash · 28/11/2017 08:21

Why not take the advice on here and not read a thread about it?

I don't mind reading threads about it, I'm just baffled at the amount of people professing to hate the royal wedding coverage but create yet more content of their own to get more people talking about it!

whoareyoukidding · 28/11/2017 08:22

YADNBU

EdithWeston · 28/11/2017 08:23

If only MN had a royal topic, so that threads could be conveniently hidden by those who don't want to see the.

Oh, wait.....

Alittlepotofrosie · 28/11/2017 08:23

Fuck off is it good news for me. Think that money is going to reach where it's needed? Ever been inside one of the royal palaces and seen all the hoarded wealth? Dont call me a div because im not buying into the medias viewpoint like you are, people like you are so fucking naive.

confusedlittleone · 28/11/2017 08:23

And yet by making this thread your drawing even more attention to it Hmm

Slartybartfast · 28/11/2017 08:24

I should imagine an awful lot of African Americans or simply Americans will be very happy, although a proportion may also be pissed off too

moutonfou · 28/11/2017 08:24

Those saying OP should just avoid it: she could, but I think she wanted to discuss how this has taken off and become such a massive thing, and whether that's right. Which is perfectly valid.

Between this and the next baby, next spring will be a royal cringe fest, thank goodness I'm not in the U.K.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 28/11/2017 08:29

They want to save the world ssd. The world dontcha know. Now bow down. Grin I was also amused Harry "sourced" the diamond. Wankery at its finest.

JeReviens · 28/11/2017 08:30

You might be "fucking sick already" of a wedding, but I'm "fucking sick" of all the whining, complaining, miserable twats out there

This. FFS give it a fucking rest already! I'm sick of Jeremy fucking Corbyn and Theresa fucking May and the endless agony that is Brexit. Someone is always sick of something. Just stop whining about it.

Iris65 · 28/11/2017 08:31

Even R4’s Today is covering it, including a discussion about the impact of MM’s profession on the royals. DGAFF.

reallybadidea · 28/11/2017 08:31

I have perfected the ability to tune out of anything that doesn't interest me. This is useful with things like this (but less so during meetings at work and lectures at university Grin)

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 28/11/2017 08:33

I bet even Harry will be whinging about the media nonsense come Spring though.

Witsender · 28/11/2017 08:33

Yup, I said "ahhh that's nice" to DH, as I would about any happy couple, when we heard and that's the extent of my interest. Why the rest of this chat? I meant, it is an announcement, great, what more needs to be said?

PumpkinSquash · 28/11/2017 08:34

Not sure that something qualifies as ‘easy to avoid’ if it requires avoiding the entire internet.

It's not compulsory to go on the internet. Anyway, there's plenty of sites that have nothing to do with the Royal wedding. Read fluffy kitten websites or science article pages. They don't tend to cover the wedding whereas news sites and discussion boards do.

HuskyMcClusky · 28/11/2017 08:36

Read fluffy kitten websites or science article pages. They don't tend to cover the wedding whereas news sites and discussion boards do.

That was my point, though! I was reading a bloody home decor site, and it was front page.
