I don't care if they got engaged or hey went to the moon, I'm sick of the constant media nonsense about them already

the gov will be delighted, finally something to take attention away from the fuck up that is brexit

YANBU - I went with if you can't congratulate them don't say anything. I read through the transcript of the interview and it was a bit cringey. Will they have chance to get Meghan elocution and Royal protocol lessons in before the marriage? I noticed she nearly said something personal about the queen then quickly changed her mind.

My post was going to be along the lines of could you hear something ticking during the interview.

I agree with Vlad on another post, that Harry was told put a ring on it or else, with them likely wanting children. I had fertility treatment for both my DC, so from what I know if it was needed I'm sure they'd have access to the very best specialists.

I just have this gut feeling that it's following in the footsteps of 3 of the Queen's children. A blow out autobiography on Harry & the Royals should be about 5/6 years away. Poor Harry will be heart broken and this will be added to his list of faux pas.

I've posted before I saw this one, saying the date seems to be a big up yours to Catherine. She will either be very heavily pregnant or postpartum. She's always been close to Harry and I'm sure would want to celebrate. I guess it's one way to make sure you're not upstaged. A knackered Mum with possible HG from pregnancy, or a knackered Mum and Dad from a newborn, plus poor Catherine needing some kind of super diet or super Spanx, when usually she's recovered in private not giving into, 'Pre baby body in weeks!'

PumpkinSquash · 28/11/2017 08:37

That was my point, though! I was reading a bloody home decor site, and it was front page.

So turn the internet off then for the sake of your blood pressure.

HuskyMcClusky · 28/11/2017 08:39

My blood pressure’s fine. Smile

The OP was making a point about saturation levels of ‘sleb’ news, and I agree with her. It’s two people getting married; the coverage is insane.

nibora · 28/11/2017 08:40

Some posh bloke on the telly spoke about "The prince and his showgirl", which amused me for a while.

BishBoshBashBop · 28/11/2017 08:41

Hopefully the media will have moved on by tomorrow.

Doubt it. Today is the date and venue.

whiskyowl · 28/11/2017 08:41

I have no interest in this, and I find the excessive coverage of it in the MSM depressing. At most, it's worthy of a brief mention in the middle of paper. But I also think that SPORT IS NOT NEWS and has no place sitting beside it.

InLoveWithLizML · 28/11/2017 08:43

I don't think anyone is bitter, I know my viewpoint is Catherine had to wait an absolute age. Realistically they're still in the honeymoon phase.

Harry's Great Uncle (I think) was knocked off the throne for marrying a divorcee. Good job the Queen changed the rules on Catholics too.

If they go by tradition, Meghan could have got an annulment, so would there be a Catholic ceremony to bless the wedding? Seeing as she was raised Catholic. This is where the Anglican Church and Catholic Church differs. She could potentially get married in Westminster Catholic Cathedral if annulled, but no Cathedral I'm guessing under any circumstances in the Anglican Church.

It'd be nice for Cardinal Vincent Nichols. Nice big church too if I recall not far from Buckingham Palace.

saladdays66 · 28/11/2017 08:48

well maybe start with getting granny to pay her taxes, i'm sure that'll help a few hospitals out

SSd, get your facts right. The Queen has been paying taxes since 1993 - www.independent.co.uk/news/royal-fortune-stays-secret-the-queen-has-been-forced-into-paying-taxes-and-the-last-thing-she-wants-1472403.html

Amanduh · 28/11/2017 08:49

I like it. I enjoyed all the joy, parties, decorations and general happiness and celebration around Kate and Wills.
It's nice Smile

RiotAndAlarum · 28/11/2017 08:51

To those who are complaining that starting this thread is also "talking about it" : it's not really the same as other sycophantic threads. This is a thread to vent steam about all the fawning and distracting and royalist discussions. I think it's quite refreshing and worthwhile to have a negative post (about the coverage, not necessarily the engagement itself). It's extremely valid to point out that non-news speculation is taking up attention which could be used to hold politicians - currently negotiating for the UK's future - accountable. It is valid to moan and complain about other things and just leave H arry and Meghan to their little bubble.

nibora · 28/11/2017 08:52

I wonder how it works if you're a royal and an atheist, do you just keep quiet?

There are a few possibles I can think of.

Creambun2 · 28/11/2017 08:53

The royal family are a waste of money.

Creambun2 · 28/11/2017 08:55

Meghan just looks like another airhead like kate middleton.

BeyondAssignation · 28/11/2017 08:57

"Bread and circuses"

Lexilooo · 28/11/2017 08:58

To quote Morrissey "Stop Watching the news...."

RiotAndAlarum · 28/11/2017 09:00

It's not news, though, and it distracts people from real news, which is difficult, but necessary.

Creambun2 · 28/11/2017 09:04

The royal family don't really give a shit about the issues that many people are experiencing in this country. Its easy to be william or kate and pop along to a charity for an hour and then pop back to the palace for champagne and cakes.

dantdmistedious · 28/11/2017 09:04

I'm happy for them like I would be anyone that got engaged. It's a nice thing.

However it was really jut worth 20 minutes on the news at ten last night.

mirialis · 28/11/2017 09:06

Oh right, just read a book or put on a cd (do people still have cds?) or a boxset whilst you are getting ready for work, travelling to work, at work etc. and then you can avoid listening to the news on the radio and television (who needs to know what other stuff of importance might actually be going on in the world), reading the papers and avoid conversations with co workers and so on whilst watching your boxset and, hey, it's really easy to avoid the nonsense.

One rant thread amongst all the other bullshit is welcomed OP.

Slartybartfast · 28/11/2017 09:07

I don't think either Kate or meghan are airheads

Locotion · 28/11/2017 09:07

Me too OP

isthismummy · 28/11/2017 09:08

Yanbu

It's a very well timed PR excercuse. Designed to keep the plebs distracted from the fuck up that is Brexit and the grinding poverty so many in the country are experiencing at the minute.

isthismummy · 28/11/2017 09:09

Exercise even. Clearly my fury at the royals even renders me unable to spell!

Elphame · 28/11/2017 09:09

More than sick of them. No point visiting any "news" sites at the moment.

mirialis · 28/11/2017 09:10

InLoveWithLiz - you seem very overly invested in plight of "poor Harry" and "poor Catherine" - really thought this thread would be a place to get away from that shit Confused
