To ask in what ways you are trampy

munkynutts · 26/11/2017 10:55

I posted a AIBU about not using pads and it got me thinking about other stuff people do behind closed doors that make them kinda trampy. Is it just me? Am I just a disgusting hobo freak hybrid?
Stuff I do:

  • TP instead of pads at home
  • Sometimes eat out the saucepan - I mean, why not?
  • If not particularly cold I'll just wear my boots without socks
  • Re-use same mug throughout day for all drinks
  • Sleep in makeup if too lazy
  • Wear clearly dirty clothes around house
  • Have been known to use mugs for cereal and soup because too lazy to wash up bowls
  • Do a bun because hair full of knots and cant be fucked to brush it just to go down to shop

My sister is the sort to apply full contouring make-up just to go for a Sunday walk.

Clearly something got seriously fucked up in our childhood

Um, well I wear clothes (at home) until they are beyond unwearable (to lazy to clothes shop).

Battleax · 26/11/2017 10:57

"Trampy"?

munkynutts · 26/11/2017 10:58

Should also add:

  • Put on a big coat rather than bother getting undressed and re dressed just to put on a bra to go out

I think I'm more akin to your sister than you, but I sometimes wear socks two days in a row if laundry hasn't been sorted and I'm in a rush.

Fluffyears · 26/11/2017 10:59

I do none of that.

DonkeyOaty · 26/11/2017 11:03

I'm not sure I want to know what TP instead of pads means.

Trampy is a bit loaded, isn't it. Some of what you're describing is self care, or lack of - wearing dirty clothes, not bothering with hairbrushing.

Eating from saucepan, mugs for soup or cereal, not awful at all.

I don't get how boots without socks is warmer though.

Oh. Urghhh. Thanks Battle.

I'm out.

Fiona1984 · 26/11/2017 11:14

Reusing the same mug just makes sense. Rinse it out briefly if changing drinks, although I'd probably get a fresh one if I was switching from milk-based drinks to water or juice.
And don't get me started on the hair thing lol. My hair is so knot prone it's unreal.

munkynutts · 26/11/2017 11:15

@Fiona1984
Precisely.

My hair also clumps up into dread-like rats nest style knots.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/11/2017 11:24

Trampy, you say?

NotMyMonkees · 26/11/2017 11:28

Haha funny how one persons troll is another person's totally reasonable poster. I do lots of those things too op. Some of it is self care related which I'm working on, but some is just societal norms which really don't matter. If my comfiest pj's have got spills down them then I'll be wearing them anyway, surely comfort trumps socially acceptable on the self care scale??

munkynutts · 26/11/2017 11:37

@NotMyMonkees
Grin
I agree re spills on PJs. The way my sister was going on about it though, she made it sound like there was some kind of MH aspect to it, as if it was about respecting myself, etc. But I DO respect myself. I just don't see why wearing a stained jumper, or eating out of a saucepan for example, is seen as a lack of self respect. Societal norms as you say, I suppose.

KurriKurri · 26/11/2017 12:11

By tramp do you mean homeless person ? (I am guessing so because you also say 'hobo')

Because if so then I reckon a homeless person would think having the choice of laying in bed in PJ's having food available when they want it (whether eaten out of a saucepan or not) pretty luxurious.
So I question your use of that word.

Regarding the rest - how you live your life is your business, everyone is different. Most of what you describe is essentially laziness, but everyone has different thing that matter and chooses to spend thier energy on different things. So it's not a problem unless you are putting your health at risk - which it doesn't sound as if you are. You just sound very different from your sister - different priorities, and as long as you are happy that's fine.

I don't think you have a mental health problem (I find your sister putting on a full face of make up odder than anything on your list. Except maybe the pads thing - how is that comfortable ?)

CactusJelly00 · 26/11/2017 12:20

Sounds a bit rank if I'm honest, but if you're happy with it who am I to give a toss...

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 26/11/2017 12:23

I can honestly say I don’t do any of those things and why you’d want to is beyond me.

jaseyraex · 26/11/2017 12:26

Can't say I do any of those but each to their own. I do however wear my pyjamas at all times unless going out, and get changed back in to pjs as soon as I get home, which I know makes some people recoil in horror. Currently wearing my fleeciest comfiest Mickey Mouse pyjamas Grin

Bluntness100 · 26/11/2017 12:31

I use the same cup for coffee throughout the day yes. I also tend not to wear socks with boots if it’s not too cold.

The rest I don’t do, no, not brushing your hair and wearing soiled clothes is quite grim really. I’m not sure why you would do that. It would make me wonder how often you shower and change your underwear because putting clearly soiled clothes on over a clean body is quite strange.

BadLad · 26/11/2017 12:39

I reuse the same cup for my couple of coffees. I don't do any of the rest, although some are n/a to me.

TheHungryDonkey · 26/11/2017 12:45

I use mugs instead of bowls for soup anyway regardless the state of the washing up. Reusing the mug for the same hot drink all day is logical.

The clearly dirty clothes one isn't ideal. I have this fear that the day I wear the clearly dirty clothes is the day the paramedics need to be called for some reason. It's very motivating on lazy days. Nobody wants to be caught out in this way.

CoalTit · 26/11/2017 12:46

OP, I salute you for your bravery in posting this here, where posters proud of their daintiness energetically compete to be the most repulsed and type things such as "Boak" and "Eeewwww" and of course "Grim".
Maybe you're being a bit of a stirrer, but I admire you.

witchofzog · 26/11/2017 12:51

I might wear the same socks twice as I wash my feet daily so they don't really smell. And I have a pair of boots I should have binned a long time ago as one has a hole in the sole but I love them so I still go out in them if it hasn't been raining and I am not going far.

ahhhsalmonskinroll · 26/11/2017 12:55

Yanbu. You are a hobo.
