I used to order on a Saturday and things would be delivered on Sunday.

My last few orders have been delivered in a couple of days... I ordered yesterday and thing are being delivered on Monday.

AIBU or is Prime less valuable now; I might as well use the free delivery---- option?! 📦

Mine have mostly been ok.
I ordered a fire stick yesterday morning at 7.30 and it arrived last night at 7.15 - less than 12 hours!

IrregularCommentary · 25/11/2017 07:42

I've been noticing the same thing. Deliveries taking 2-3 days rather than next day. I've not bothered complaining, but might if it'll add a free month on...

Pemba · 25/11/2017 07:42

I would have assumed that it's because of Black Friday? I ordered something yesterday (Friday) and they only gave me the option to have it delivered on Monday. But then I just brought a 'wind-proof' umbrella (we'll see!) on a lightning deal and they offered to deliver it this evening! Maybe it just depends what the item is?

I did see a thread on MoneySavingExpert though, where people were experiencing Prime delivery not being next day, and they found the solution was to delete all the stored addresses on their account and re-enter the one they wanted. Then the delivery options reset to next day. It was a technical blip apparently.

Ilovehamabeads · 25/11/2017 07:49

I think over the couple of years I've had prime, only two or three items have not arrived next day when they were supposed to. Everything ordered this week has come on time, even stuff ordered late at night turns up the next morning like magic. I'll definitely be renewing for another year.

EnglishRose13 · 25/11/2017 07:55

If you complain, they’ll give you 30 days for free. It’s just the happened to me, with something I really needed.

FluffyNinja · 25/11/2017 07:57

I've had stuff take over 2 weeks to arrive on the free delivery option including presents for Xmas last year which was cutting it very fine.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 25/11/2017 08:03

I've noticed this too-it's not necessarily s problem but seems pointless having Prime if they don't do next day delivery IMO, I'll try refreshing my addresses though and see if that works.

Basecamp21 · 25/11/2017 08:03

Not had a major problem - the odd thing has not come next day but has always come within 48hrs.

I buy a lot - virtually everything but food - from Amazon. And find Prime with the free quick delivery plus the TV one of the best value things i buy.

I totally feel the thing about the packaging though but have not been in a shopping centre for years for myself. I took my Mum to a new shopping complex near me the other day and felt sick at the sheer mass consumption on display - I will stick with Amazon. Might not be any better for the environment but at least I don't have to watch it.

PandasRock · 25/11/2017 08:07

I thought the point of prime was that you paid upfront for delivery, so no more charges throughout the year, with the added bonus that a lot of things (most?) would be delivered next day rather than the back of the queue wait a week for free delivery that amazon used to do (there's a minimum price for that now, isn't there?)

There have always been some items which are Prime, but not next day delivery. Sometimes it's two days, sometimes a bit longer. Prime means priority delivery, imo and ime. The delivery day is stated at point of order, and if that deadline is not met, then complain - Amazon will generally add a free month of prime for failure to return delivery.

MsGameandWatching · 25/11/2017 08:07

Yes, I have noticed this too. Last Christmas I ordered a few things for ds late on the day before Christmas Eve as his pile looked a bit light. They were there by lunch time the next day, but this year I am noticing more and more that if you order late on a Friday or on a Saturday you’re not getting them till Monday and hardly any items have same day delivery anymore. It’s annoying but will keep prime for the TV.

itusedtobeverydifferent · 25/11/2017 08:09

All mine arrive next day unless it's a high demand item then it may be delayed. For example, something I bought from their Black Friday sale which is very popular, is not available just now and will be here in a few days.

Nothing to grumble about really, it showed that when I ordered.

ThursdayLastWeek · 25/11/2017 08:11

I have never once had something come the next day. I live in Cornwall, but pretty near trunk roads, Asos always manage.

I’m annoyed at myself because I forgot to cancel it last week.

tistheseason2bjolly · 25/11/2017 08:12

In November I chose not to continue Amazon Prime (after having it for 2 years). Reasons:

  • Didn't like the Amazon video content
  • The Amazon delivery drivers in my area are ridiculous when it comes to leaving parcels in strange places
TinyBarista · 25/11/2017 08:12

Same here. Although I thought it could be so they could collate orders during peak shopping days into one delivery, I..e likely people will buy things on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so this gives them just one delivery to make rather than three?

Piffpaffpoff · 25/11/2017 08:20

Mine always comes next day. But that’s probably because I can just about see the warehouse from my house so there’s no excuse!

Runningbutnotscared · 25/11/2017 08:20

I've noticed the same thing too - and I think £79 is too much to pay for random delivery slots, I may as well just go to the bloody shop.
I'll be cancelling in Jan, which is a shame because I liked the video content.

catgirl1976 · 25/11/2017 08:22

I've thought they have been going downhill for a while in terms of delivery speed. I had one item recently that was a week late and lots that have been a day or two late. It used to be excellent - now it isn't

I am however, very impressed with Argos' same day delivery :)

WindowWiper · 25/11/2017 08:25

Same here - it’s happened to me quite a few times.
Argos has better service than Amazon now - I was very, very
impressed with their next day delivery of a TV recently.

bossyrossy · 25/11/2017 08:27

I usually use free delivery and it comes in a couple of days but I needed something by a specific date so I paid extra postage, £6. Needless to say, it didn’t arrive in time.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 25/11/2017 08:29

Another one who’s noticed this, prime doesn’t seem to mean next day anymore. Annoying, because that is why I have it! I may also complain.

Ridingthegravytrain · 25/11/2017 08:37

It’s been like that for a good few weeks now so nothing to do with Black Friday. Most stuff on prime doesn’t even seem to say next day anymore, but delivery date 2 or even 3 days away

Next day guaranteed was the only reason we got prime

bathghter · 25/11/2017 08:39

I had a trial recently, it was useless!

TonicAndTonic · 25/11/2017 08:43

It does seem to vary more than it used to, but I tend to use prime for the free nominated delivery feature as I work full time, so I'll order any time in the week and specify Sunday delivery for no extra charge. I don't mind paying the Prime subscription for that feature.

PineConesAplenty · 25/11/2017 08:45

We have Amazon prime and love it. Deliveries arrive when they say they will. We use the locker service as Dh drives past it on his way home so we don't even need to be in.

When something was coming to the house and we had a failed to deliver update, we live chatted with them and said impossible, we have a camera doorbell and no one has come to the house. An hour later the driver delivered it.

We order stuff on a Saturday and it arrives on a Sunday.

The video content is good and is worth the £79 for Outlander alone Grin

PurpleChai · 25/11/2017 08:46

I do enjoy having Prime but have had numerous issues with poor delivery (drivers not leaving parcels where they should for example). We have started using the option to deliver to an Amazon Locker for higher value orders and it’s brilliant as it’s easy to pick the items up on the way home from work or in an evening, plus Prime means it’s a free service.
