... to be pleased that Oscar Pistorius has had his sentence increased?

Now 15 years, instead of the original 6, so he won't be out for another 13 years (he's already served 2 years).

The original sentence was shockingly low imo, and I'm really pleased about this.

Yes I feel the same. Still not enough but a lot more in line with his crime. RIP Reeva.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 24/11/2017 08:30

I’m pleased too but he still deserves more.

Shoxfordian · 24/11/2017 08:38

I'm pleased too, still not long enough though

TheStoic · 24/11/2017 08:41

What an absolute disgrace the original ‘sentence’ was.

LoverOfCake · 24/11/2017 08:44

Am glad. Unfortunately though this whole thing was a a farce from beginning to end and I fear that this may still not be the end of it.

Vitalogy · 24/11/2017 08:56

Is he in an actual prison now or still at home.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/11/2017 08:57

Yes very pleasing

viques · 24/11/2017 08:59

Hadn't heard this so am pleasantly surprised. The trial and the original sentence was a travesty. but as others have said it will probably not be the end, he really is the definitive snowflake so will no doubt be producing arguments about why he should be allowed to spend his sentence in a 5star hotel.

It is so frustrating when people you though were great role models turn out to have feet of clay, I feel the same way about Aung San Suu Kyi, I spent years telling kids what an amazing woman she was and now I am horrified by her refusal to do anything about the massacres and attempted genocide of the Rohingya people and bringing the rapists and killers to justice.

Laiste · 24/11/2017 09:00

Is he in an actual prison now or still at home.

I was wondering that.

It's so protracted this case. I cannot believe it'll be FIVE years since he murder her soon. (next feb).

Flowers for RS and her family.

Laiste · 24/11/2017 09:01

murdered

TabbyMack · 24/11/2017 09:04

This is very good news. This man is a murdering piece of crap and the trial judge behaved shamefully. Fair enough to mess up once but to compund it by handing down a pathetically inadequate sentence is quite shameful.

I hope he can’t appeal again.

TabbyMack · 24/11/2017 09:06

He is currently in prison. But...the prison he is in is a low security one which is only available for people serving 6 years or less. With a sentence of 13 years, he’ll have to be moved back to the high security one.

Ithastobeheinz · 24/11/2017 09:09

I was pleased when I heard this on the news this morning.
Finally justice for Reeva and her family

Allthebestnamesareused · 24/11/2017 09:10

me too

whoareyoukidding · 24/11/2017 09:14

YANBU.

WellThisIsShit · 24/11/2017 09:14

Good

BookABooSue · 24/11/2017 09:15

I'm glad they increased the sentence. His initial sentence was a complete travesty.
RIP Reeva Flowers

SecretSmellies · 24/11/2017 09:17

Also very pleased to hear this.

Gingernaut · 24/11/2017 09:18

YANBU.

CrochetBelle · 24/11/2017 09:19

I am pleased that he'll now be moved to the type of facility a murderer like him deserves to be in.

JaneEyre70 · 24/11/2017 09:22

I've always felt so sad for her family - they were badly let down by the justice system. His tears were only ever for himself. Rest in peace Reeva. It's taken far too long but at last his crime has been recognised for the horror that it was.

wheresmycat · 24/11/2017 09:27

Around the time I saw someone say 'she must have been so scared'. It's really stuck with me.

15 years isn't long enough but it's an improvement. YANBU.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 24/11/2017 09:35

It’s definitely an improvement & I hope he gets moved to a regular prison, no more snowflake treatment.

It’s still nowhere near long enough, but nothing other than genuine ‘life’ would be long enough as far as I’m concerned. He took her life, he should lose his freedom for the remainder of his.

TabbyMack · 24/11/2017 09:39

You know what always gets me about this case? The evidence of one of the ear witnesses who said they heard a woman screaming for help and then a man shouting “help” too. The witness said they thought the man was mocking the woman.

How awful is that? Poor Reeva, desperately hiding in a toilet while her ranting, yelling, armed boyfriend mocks her desperate pleas for help.

I hope he rots.

demirose87 · 24/11/2017 09:45

I'm glad. Hate seeing his horrible smug little face.
