... to be pleased that Oscar Pistorius has had his sentence increased?

Now 15 years, instead of the original 6, so he won't be out for another 13 years (he's already served 2 years).

The original sentence was shockingly low imo, and I'm really pleased about this.

He’s put her and her family through hell

cuirderussie · 25/11/2017 12:54

Yes. Fucking prick.

SouthWestmom · 25/11/2017 12:58

It's weird though because I followed it all on MN (hi Rousette) and at the time everyone here was pretty much saying they thought the judge (Masipa?) was great and would do a good job. Then when she gave her verdict they all lost faith.

I think originally I was very open minded to him not knowing it was her but it really bothered me that Frank didn't hear anything etc and that made me feel he was probably covering up

squoosh · 25/11/2017 13:03

Was delighted to hear this. Judge Masipa's handling of things was a bloody outrage.

BookABooSue · 25/11/2017 14:15

At the time, I thought Masipa would do a good job. She had an excellent record on DV cases, etc.
Looking back on it now, I think the prosecutor was arguing the wrong case (which was difficult to tell at the time because of the different degrees in SA offences) . He was focused too much on the timeline of the evening and what that meant for Oscar's motivation in relation to Reeva when really he should have focused on the fact that no-one could have survived that number of bullets in an enclosed space and that Oscar didn't need to run towards a noise rather than away.

BookABooSue · 25/11/2017 14:16

And obviously Masipa's sentencing was a disgrace too.

dowotmakesuhappy · 25/11/2017 14:21

I have read and watched a lot about him and I personally don't believe he meant to kill her. I'm not sure I believe he thought she was an intruder but I don't think he set out to murder her.

squoosh · 25/11/2017 14:24

He knew exactly who he was shooting at. HTH.

SecretSmellies · 25/11/2017 14:26

The picture that really got me is some security footage of her arriving in her car on valentines Day. There is a picture of her face and she beaming from ear to ear clearly really excited and happy she is about to see her boyfriend.

ijustwannadance · 25/11/2017 14:34

Going by family and friends, she was preparing to leave the controlling arsehole who was regularly nasty and abusive to her in front of others.

They also had a balistics expert whose evidence wasn't allowed or taken into account by first, shit judge. Oscar knew how to handle weapons and had practiced regularly.

She was also apparantly sitting on the loo holding her phone when first shots were fired. Maybe trying to call for help?

The most compelling evidence for me was the body language experts. His crying in court etc was all about him. Not her.

The thing that pissed me off most though is he pushed himself as an athlete and was more than capable of everything. Yet in court he played the poor disabled me card.

squoosh · 25/11/2017 14:38

Oh God yeah, all the crocodile tears and self pitying snivelling.

What an awful creature he is.

MrsJayy · 25/11/2017 14:43

Oh the walking in on his stumps made me feel sick he couldn't go any lower than that it was all poor poor me . I googled him yesterday to read about the sentencing and his website is still up with messages of support.

BookABooSue · 25/11/2017 14:50

Yy I agree he knew exactly who he was shooting at and he kept shooting till he knew she was dead. I still remember the marks on the bedroom door too . . .he hasn't told the truth about anything that happened that night.

squoosh · 25/11/2017 14:54

There is a weird thing about female superfans supporting their guy no matter the evidence isn't there? It's similar to those women who fall in love with serial killers on death row. Is it something to do with the ultimate bad boy?

Can't get my head around it at all.

RonaldMcDonald · 25/11/2017 15:04

Incredibly pleased. I don't think it was the correct verdict. Additionally sentencing was horrifyingly low to begin with and they the Pistorius family appealed that
Glad he has received a larger sentence and I hope he is made to serve a very large proportion

MrsJayy · 25/11/2017 15:08

I have no idea squoosh maybe it is thinking they are a misunderstood troubled soul or something and all they need is them to understand ,the superfans are just odd.

BookABooSue · 25/11/2017 15:13

It was definitely one of the disturbing aspects of this case to see the fans supporting him outside the court and to read their comments on the threads on here.

SouthWestmom · 25/11/2017 15:14

Yes that's weird too the marks on the bath panel and the door

goose1964 · 25/11/2017 15:17

He only got a short sentence because the judge was a fan,. Hopefully another judg looked at the sentence.incidentl even if it had been a burglar he shot to kill so it would still be murder

Sparklesocks · 25/11/2017 15:34

I think about Reeva from time to time and how scary her last few minutes on earth must’ve been.

MurmmersShow · 25/11/2017 15:37

What about the marks on door and bath - what does that mean?

TooManyPaws · 25/11/2017 15:38

It always struck me from the first day of the news that he supposedly never checked where she was. If I heard a noise in the loo, i would assume first that it was my partner and look to see if the bed was empty. Also, if I were going for a pee in the middle of the night in an ensuite I wouldn't be locking the door - unless I was trying to protect myself from someone while I called for help. To me, the whole case falls down on him saying that he never checked/saw where she was. Snivelling little baby of a tantruming, murderous man-child.

I saw the previous Paralympics how spoiled he was when he complained about Alan Oliviera cheating just because he lost to him. It maybe also explains Johnny Peacock's "fuck you, Oscar Pistorius", as he got gold in the 100m sprint; I bet the other Paralympic runners knew exactly what he was like.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 25/11/2017 15:42

I hope he's not let out early on appeal or good behaviour or some such thing

SouthWestmom · 25/11/2017 15:51

This bath panel - not necessary to batter in order to knock the door down so when was it damaged and how?

... to be pleased that Oscar Pistorius has had his sentence increased?
MrsJayy · 25/11/2017 15:53

He appealed that guy beating him on the grounds longer blades or some such rubbish
