To think that if I was Serena Williams, I'd be a bit disappointed in my wedding photos?

From the description, it's clear she went all out, which is fair enough when you've earned millions through your own hard work. And it all sounds incredible, but the pictures in Vogue don't really do it justice, in my opinion. I've seen much cheaper weddings look better (just in terms of framing and how you take the shot etc). Unless she kept all the best pictures private? Or she had multiple photographers and this is just one view?

No, only white men apparently. Because if you critique a woman that's attacking the sisterhood.

CurlsandCurves · 22/11/2017 16:31

Kim K could’ve got her roots done for the occasion.

I agree that those photos aren't good. For instance the big family photo one. Everyone has their head on straight except one person. If a number of people were sitting more naturally it wouldn't stand out, but only one and not the bride or groom looks odd. The bridesmaid front right is a wall of fabric, her skirt should have been arranged better on the chair, it takes up too much attention in the photo. The bridesmaid behind her has the opposite problem, her skirt is looking super clingy, just picking it up and draping it back down would have fixed that. Both these two things take the focus off the main couple. I would expect a professional photographer to have their assistant to help with the dresses. It is not a natural spontaneous photo so these things should have been fixed.

I agree most of the photos look like an event, not like friends and family having a good time and enjoying a special day. I hope they have photos like that in their own collection.

Rubbish. We could go on and on about the hideous dress by Emmanuel for Princess Diana.
Can we have a conversation without turning it into a race war?!

LoveYouTimMinchin · 22/11/2017 20:09

Awful venue, it looks like a school hall.

The photos, technically, are poor and this is what the thread is about.

I don't see any racism on the thread either.

We had a thread talking about Abbey Clancy's wedding iirc. Her makeup was awful!

If you sell your photos to the highest bidder you can expect comments on them!

And, yes, v good point about Serena's groom. Reddit didn't take off on the back of people saying "no, it's not nice to talk about that, leave them alone".

Even the people on this thread who really really hated Serena's main dress had other positive comments to make.

All a bit of a hoo-ha over nothing.

BonjourMeDarlin · 22/11/2017 20:12

I think we are so used to seeing women that have had extensive plastic surgery, layers of make up and fake eyelashes, photo shop and filters we forget what really women look like.
This photos just show real women.

Elephantgrey · 22/11/2017 20:19

drexa that article actually proves my point. You clearly searched for an article critsing Andy couldn't find one and linked one that says isn't Kim Murray lovely and she usually looks like a model but could have worn a better dress. They didn't critise Andy Murray the critise went to his wife instead but the tone in that article is very different from the tone on here.

People don't do this shit to men. It's fine if you don't like someone's wedding dress. The level of vitriol on here is bazar. Men are not judged by their appreance in the same way as women. Mark Zuckerburg wears the same outfit everyday; jeans and a gray t shirt; because he doesn't want to waste energy thinking about his clothes. I would love to do that it would make my life so much easier but a woman couldn't get away with that.

People are defensive of Serena because she does get a lot of abuse. Ilie Nastase made a racist remark about her baby before she was born she has also had a lot of comments about her appearance that are racist.

derxa · 22/11/2017 20:27

Elephant First of all I'm derxa. I agree that people are nasty about everybody's wedding dress and attack women. I love Serena, Andy and KIm. They all get abuse because they are happy and rich. People are racist about Serena and Andy. I'm Scottish. HTH

Elephantgrey · 22/11/2017 21:00

derxa sorry for getting your name wrong. I am also Scottish. I think you are right that people are mean about them because they are rich, successful and happy.

I think that both Serena and Kim had lovely wedding dresses and I also wore trainers to my wedding. What I have learned from this thread is that I have no taste.

ShirleyPhallus · 22/11/2017 21:21

Christ. I’m not mean about Serena because I’m jealous, because she is rich, has an adorable baby or any of those things.

All I, and many people on this thread, said is that for £2m you’d expect she could afford a dress which would support her breasts! Not mean, not jealous, nor racist.

I do note those that the people upthread hooting on about racism have gone absolutely quiet when asked for examples from this thread.

LoveYouTimMinchin · 22/11/2017 21:21

ElephantGray

"The level of vitriol on here is bazar."

I don't see it.

I don't think you can be vitriolic towards a dress as it's an inanimate object.

Where else have you seen vitriol?

ShirleyPhallus · 22/11/2017 21:23

I assume the level of vitriol as bazar means it’s laid out like a sort of marketplace in the Middle East?

Ffsdh · 22/11/2017 21:26

I think it looks lovely - she looks so happy in all the photos. That’s what you want to remember from your wedding isn’t it, that feeling of pure joy?

I love Kim K staring directly at the photographer in every shot she’s in, rather than at the bride and groom like everyone else Grin

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 22/11/2017 21:28

The first dress does not fit properly; that's a matter of fact, not opinion.

The kind of cloak thing doesn't look like otbwas fitted properly either and Serena looks like she has rounded shoulders from trying to keep it on properly - again, fact.

If you publish photos in Vogue then you are inviting comment. Fact.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 22/11/2017 21:30

If Mark Zuckenberg wore a ill fitting gray T shirt to his wedding that gave him 4 boobs and then published the photos in Vogue - a fashion magazine focussed on fashion, then I and lots of other people would comment on that

LoveYouTimMinchin · 22/11/2017 21:33

Then it would be bazaar Shirley Wink

fuzzywuzzy · 22/11/2017 22:17

Serena has recently had a baby it’s possible her boobs are bigger now than when she was fitted for the dress because of breastfeeding or just as her post baby body.

I think she looks lovely.
