To spray a bit of perfume on the bus.

I don't want to sound horrible about people with strong body odour, , but some do positively honk when i'm on the bus. Today a man sat in front of me and the smell nearly took my breath away. Wibu to spray a bit of impulse round my neck. Anyone else do this.

Carry a Vicks nasal inhaler stick and watt it under your nose as required.

FrogFairy · 20/11/2017 15:45

Watt = waft

KinkyAfro · 20/11/2017 15:45

I'd have been fuming if you'd sprayed perfume on a bus I was on

Oakmaiden · 20/11/2017 15:46

Spray it on yourself before you get on the bus. Then bury your nose into whatever you have sprayed it on.

ZombieVampireHedgehog · 20/11/2017 15:47

Some people can't afford deodorant, or say the elderly & infirm may struggle to use the squirty bit. I'm pretty sure it's not something people take pride in. I'll just go out today and see how many people I can repulse.

Maybe I'm part of a minority but I can breathe through my mouth and kind of shut my nose off.

GurlwiththeCurl · 20/11/2017 15:47

I have chronic cough and react to perfumes, amongst other things. One of the worst times is when people spray perfume near me. So, if you would like to see a woman choking on the floor, vomiting, losing continence from both passages and being close to death.

Then spray away you selfish fuckers!

librarypictures · 20/11/2017 15:48

I always carry strongly scented anti bacterial hand gel which is useful in this situation. Bath and Bodyworks ones are particularly good, slather generously on hands then put one hand near nose / face. Does the trick for me and not as obvious as spraying. When I use at work the gel can be smelt a good 5-6 desks away so creates a cloud of nice scent!

Lelloteddy · 20/11/2017 15:50

Spraying stuff on public transport is anti social. The stench of impulse AND BO would make me gag more.

Carrying a vicks inhaler or a bottle of smelly oil.

Strongbeatsskinny · 20/11/2017 15:52

I’ve been in the same situation many time nowadays I always wear a scarf. If a pungent smell arises I can submerge myself up to my nose and smell a my perfume that’s probably already on the scarf. Also always sit next to a window that I’ve open as I sit down.

eastlondoner · 20/11/2017 15:52

Spraying perfume/body spray on public transport is just as antisocial as smelling of BO.

SendintheArdwolves · 20/11/2017 15:53

RTFT & stop posting your trite little meme....

Miaow! Grin

TheBlessedCheesemaker · 20/11/2017 15:54

Question of semantics: At what point does a goady fucker become a troll?

ZombieVampireHedgehog · 20/11/2017 15:55

I can't believe the number of people saying bugger them, spray away.

MarthaArthur · 20/11/2017 15:57

Oh op its vile isnt it. Where i work 5/10 customers reek like they have never bathed a day in their life. I use at least a bottle of fabreeze a day in work. Wish i could do it on public transport too.

logicalmum · 20/11/2017 15:57

carrying a vicks inhaler
Ughh no, that would make ME feel sick. Perhaps if people just washed? Confused

shutitandtidyupgitface · 20/11/2017 15:57

If people can get "triggered" by a bit of impulse, why take the risk of public transport

I'm supposed to walk 30 miles to work just so you can spray your cheap nasty body spray on the bloody bus?

JacquesHammer · 20/11/2017 16:00

Perhaps if people just washed?

Perhaps if people just had a bit of empathy.

Ok. Vicks makes you feel sick. Lemon scent on a handkerchief? Sniff a bottle of perfume. Spray your favourite onto a tissue at home. There's many, many options for you to be more comfortable without risking someone else's health

paxillin · 20/11/2017 16:01

Really don't understand why impulse is such a problem

Because Penhaligon's don't make it and people are worried about being mistaken for lower middle or below.

abualb · 20/11/2017 16:02

Op you should not spray perfume or deodorant or anything like that in an enclosed public space, yabvvvu.

Family members with asthma really struggling with this on buses (personally I'm fine with it, but I've seen the results!).

ZombieVampireHedgehog · 20/11/2017 16:04

Please look up Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, there's an Aussie woman who blogs how she's had to live in the bathroom at her parents as she has it so bad.

bathghter · 20/11/2017 16:05

absolutely stupid and U to spray aerosol in a space like that Hmm

MardAsSnails · 20/11/2017 16:07

Yes, definitely YABU.

I have severe allergies. I would react to sitting next to someone with perfume on that I cant tolerate but reasonably mildly (unless put on within the previous hour or so). If someone sprayed specific perfume/body spray next to me, I'd be in a mess. Heart rate 160+, eyes and throat closing etc.

Spraying anything in a confined space is unreasonable and very selfish. Disliking the smell for a short duration vs serious health complications for others. Not really any contest.

The question earlier about why would you use public transport if you had that sort of reaction? Because most people have to go out places sometimes. This isn't just a public transport thing. Its the toilets in bars, shopping centres, etc. Its on planes. Its in any confined space anywhere in the world. Should I just stay at home then? Just so others can spray body spray wherever they wish? The one place I do avoid is cosmetic shops and where possible i avoid department stores unless theres entrances not near the cosmetics. Usually I can remove myself from the situation into fresh air, but not mid-bus/train/plane journey.

logicalmum · 20/11/2017 16:10

zombie do you really think the smell i'm talking about is someone who hasnt put a deodorant on?? For goodness sake. ShockApart from that are you saying a bus user can't afford a one pound deodorant. Shock

I usually pull my top or scarf over my mouth and nose and move seats if possible.
