To think nobody likes sprouts. And anyone who says they do is just doing it for attention

I mean they're horrible. People have tried to help them by adding other things to make them not taste like sprouts, but let's just admit that they were never designed to be eaten. The taste is probably some evolutionary defence mechanism that has inexplicably not worked coz humans are daft enough to eat through the disgusting taste.

Anyone that says they like them is lying to us and themselves and is just looking for attention.

NO no no mistress!!! U r so wrong! ... I really really do LOVE sprouts!!! :) offer me a bowel if hot sprouts with melted butter on top or big bar of chocolate (also a favourite!!!) and I'd say I'd pick the bowel of sprouts on more than 50 or 60% of occasions!! Deeeeeeeelicious! Smile

Think that says everything. People who claim to like sprouts also eat bowels. Case closed. Bake em away toys.

Seriously though roasted sprouts with cashews are amazing!
Or steamed or baked or with cheese sauce added!

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 20/11/2017 23:14

I love them... providing they’ve been cooked properly and not over boiled. I love them with butter and pancetta

MajorMam · 20/11/2017 23:23

Nothing wrong with sprouts. It's the people that BOIL them, or use frozen ones, that have something wrong with them. Sacrilege Angry.

Steamed (al dente) and lightly buttered they are the food of the gods!

I have a strong constitution though and they don't make me fart anymore than usual.

gillybeanz · 20/11/2017 23:34

We all love sprouts but don't like them hard, they have to be cooked properly, not just dipped in a bit of hot water or steamed for 30 seconds.
Don't like them mushy and over cooked though.
There is a happy medium of soft and sweet that is just delicious.

Oh god someone mentioned Nigella.
The most boring cook on the planet.
She only knows how to make things sweet.
So one-dimensional.

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2017 07:41

Nigella is my go to woman for cakes. Particularly chocolate ones.

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 21/11/2017 08:16

DS1 wolfed them as a toddler (and still likes them quite a lot). I remember him voluntarily scoffing sprouts down before he started on his chips. He's not even a purist quinoa eating type Wink

kaytee87 · 21/11/2017 08:18

My toddler likes them. He is a bit of an attention seeker right enough.

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2017 08:28

Josh Widdecombe says people who say they like dark chocolate are attention seekers..,......

whoareyoukidding · 21/11/2017 08:31

Haven't read all the thread but I love sprouts, and dark chocolate. But not on the same plate.

gillybeanz · 21/11/2017 11:45

Nigella and Josh Widdecombe are both attention seeking twats. Grin

Anymajordude · 21/11/2017 11:50
