To think nobody likes sprouts. And anyone who says they do is just doing it for attention

I mean they're horrible. People have tried to help them by adding other things to make them not taste like sprouts, but let's just admit that they were never designed to be eaten. The taste is probably some evolutionary defence mechanism that has inexplicably not worked coz humans are daft enough to eat through the disgusting taste.

Anyone that says they like them is lying to us and themselves and is just looking for attention.

I totally love sprouts. So does DH. Halve them, salt, pepper, olive oil, into the oven for about 25 minutes, done. Yum. We eat them on their own, without anything else.

UnicornRainbowColours · 20/11/2017 13:02

Try sautéing then with pancetta their amazing!!! I like Brussels sprouts their yummy

goose1964 · 20/11/2017 13:08

DH adores sprouts, I hate the green ones but I will eat the red ones, they are a lot milder so less awful.

"Yesterday my DH procures a semi sprout stalk to give the leaves to our new Guinea Pigs as a treat. They ate them and I have to be honest I think less of those fluffsters for doing so. They have let me down."

Excellent point

(In the spirit of AIBU I am quoting only the sensible posters).

I assume divorce proceedings have begun?

I love them! ( and cauliflower )

FreeSpiritJen · 20/11/2017 18:33

YABU.

I love sprouts. Smile

I have them with a roast meal, and also with chicken pie. Once every 3 weeks or so, me and DH have chicken pie, mash, a yorkshire pud, gravy, peas, and half a dozen sprouts.

Love 'em!

SemolinaSilkpaws · 20/11/2017 18:39

OP, i am going to have to go out to the shops and buy a bag of sprouts immediately. I love them and reading this thread has made me want some. It’s raining so will be your fault if i catch a cold!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2017 18:44

I adore sprouts. We all do. And kale.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 20/11/2017 18:46

My DD (6) loves them and has for the last couple of years. I can live with them - they’re basically small cabbages Confused

PrimalLass · 20/11/2017 18:52

I love them. YABU.

FloControl · 20/11/2017 18:52

In my 46 years on this planet I have never eaten or tasted a single Brussels sprout. Nor do I ever intend to. The cooking smell puts me off. However, I do like other brassicas like broccoli and cauliflower is quite nice ( with a rich cheese sauce).

MrsAJ27 · 20/11/2017 18:56

Yuk they are bloody disgusting and smell awful when being cooked

baritonehome · 20/11/2017 19:00

I love sprouts, so do my DC (6 & 9). DH hates it. We have them several times a week in sprout season. cookes and then fried in a pan with some butter. yum. heaven.

tiggersdontlikehoney · 20/11/2017 19:00

I love them, eat whole bags with a light seasoning, yum Smile

theSnuffster · 20/11/2017 19:07

My kids love them, my son especially. I don't think I've ever tried them and don't want to either.

Ttbb · 20/11/2017 19:13

I love sprouts.

Hotfootit · 20/11/2017 19:30

I love sprouts and will finish off all the left over ones at the work Christmas dinner. I love them shredded then fried with a little garlic served on pasta with Parmesan and black pepper - yum

heyday · 20/11/2017 19:40

I love sprouts so much, I really do and if I am considered to be attention seeking.....I just don't care.

deptfordgirl · 20/11/2017 19:41

Yum. I love them with a roast dinner.

deptfordgirl · 20/11/2017 19:42

hotfoot that sounds amazing. I might have to try that this week.

gwenneh · 20/11/2017 19:43

I don't love sprouts.

Then one of the chefs at work prepared them this way with caramelised onions and bacon and I saw the light!

JustHope · 20/11/2017 19:45

Sliced and pan fried in a bit butter a splash of water with lots of black pepper. It’s the only way.

abbey44 · 20/11/2017 19:53

I used to hate them too till I discovered the true way - shredded and stir-fried in butter with lemon and toasted flaked almonds. Bloody gorgeous. I have to fight the family off them at Christmas now, so it's not just me that finds them irresistible like this.

MistressDeeCee · 20/11/2017 21:49

I eat them dipped in tomato sauce (heathen). & only because they're good for the health. That's it. I don't believe anyone who says they LOVE sprouts. Don't mind, or quite like...but love?! Nope
