To think this restaurant is slightly out of order?

Afternoon all.

Each week I eat the same meal at the same restaurant, same time, same day (same table if the winds blowing in the right direction Wink). This has been a routine for just over a year Smile. I've become friendly with the staff - first name terms with a couple of the regulars.

Each week I leave one element of the meal. The last 3 ish times that I've visited I've been served this meal without this element. Hmm.

No one has ever mentioned it to me, or offered a reduction in cost or a replacement item.

AIBU to think that it isn't the restaurant's place to make this decision on my behalf?

I have nothing of any usefulness to add to the beans on toast shenanigans (I always say no eggs to my full English order, and I want to hug the people who say "what would you like extra of instead?") but I'm just very happy to see a Chaos thread. My cockles have been warmed.

tentative3 · 13/11/2017 19:05

I once asked for no mushrooms, beans or black pudding and got given 5 sausages and 4 bacon Hassled. It was amazing. This was also not a useful contribution to the thread, I apologise.

YABU

You haven't eaten this item on your plate for a year, so they've left it off.

MrsFezziwig · 13/11/2017 19:31

Fortunately I’m not doing Slimmer’s World.

OP, are you Sheldon Cooper?

CurlyPJ · 13/11/2017 19:53

Trojan yep. Love it. And as BarbaraofSeville said the food is amazing enough to forgive everything. I can totally see why they do it. Otherwise every middle-class "let's go for a nice walk in the Peak District with Tarquin and Imogen" would be swapping this for that and "please could you put the beans in a pot". Chaos would Truly Reign Grin

Honeydragon · 13/11/2017 20:15

Schoolgaterebel

And deprived her of beans in the process.

CurlyPJ and Trojan

Do they serve the food on proper plates as well? Not sheets of laminated newspaper, or lumps of slate, or wooden chopping boards, or tiny little minature supermarket trollies etc, and with the tea in jam jars with handles?

It's just I bloody hate that shite! As John Finnemore would say "Just put it on a plate!"

For anyone wondering about the Grindleford Cafe. For many more, look on google images for Grindleford cafe Grin

I once had a vegetarian breakfast and the beans were served cold and in some sort of ramekin. I was most unimpressed. They also served it on some sort of chopping board rather than a plate.

Btw, I don’t understand your desire to have more beans. And I don’t understand why you eat the same thing in the same place every week at exactly the same time and in exactly the same seat every week.

PerpetualStudent · 13/11/2017 20:43

My local caff is run by a Turkish family and I always swap the (manky cheap) sausage for fried halloumi when ordering my set 1. Delicious. Get an absolute vat of beans too #NotHelpful

Some people really are not getting it... demand the beans back..

Footle · 14/11/2017 07:42

Chaos, thank you for your sympathy and the alopogies, which are even more heartwarming than the usual kind. Poached eggs are just VU though.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 14/11/2017 15:44

Thanks folks, for the welcome back. Except Honey. Obviously [wunk]

I'm going to I address the issue next time, you'll be pleased to know. And enjoy my Life of Same. Grin

I thought it was a meal with several ingredients lol not beans on toast! So your in a cafe I imagine...if your leaving something every time I think it's nice they have noticed and odd that you are annoyed about not having something you don't want anyway! Just ask them for 1 bread and and extra beans! D x

jellybeanteaparty · 14/11/2017 17:44

Friend once asked for a pot of tea for one in the Grindleford cafe LOL
Lovely food - missing point of thread opps Enjoy your Beans Chaos :)

NamasteNiki · 14/11/2017 17:44

Yabu for paying £6 for beans, toast and eggs.

Some of the cheapest foods available in the supermarket.

Gazelda · 14/11/2017 17:47

Wow OP, that sounds really unfair 😩.
I don’t know what I’d do in your shoes. In fact, this is probably going to have me pondering all evening.
I know the sensible thing would be to ask for the beans and toast back, but without the toast. But The coward in me would change cafe. But that would be a real shame since you’ve made such good friends.
Yikes, glad it’s not my problem to solve.

Clandestino · 14/11/2017 17:49

My DD hates chips so instead of ordering chips and chicken tenders and some extra we always ask for pasta. Always get charged the standard chips + tenders price. Why can't you ask to put something else for the same price as you are always leaving one item on the plate?

FeelingAggrieved · 14/11/2017 17:51
Hmm

Is all I can say.

Toast........

NamasteNiki · 14/11/2017 17:52

I think there needs to be a toast emoji to replace the biscuit

grimeofthecentury · 14/11/2017 17:54

So you don't eat the toast but have never ever thought to ask for just beans and poached eggs? I'm not joking when I say this blows my mind a little bit
