To think this restaurant is slightly out of order?

Afternoon all.

Each week I eat the same meal at the same restaurant, same time, same day (same table if the winds blowing in the right direction ). This has been a routine for just over a year . I've become friendly with the staff - first name terms with a couple of the regulars.

Each week I leave one element of the meal. The last 3 ish times that I've visited I've been served this meal without this element. Hmm.

No one has ever mentioned it to me, or offered a reduction in cost or a replacement item.

AIBU to think that it isn't the restaurant's place to make this decision on my behalf?

Just asked dp who is kitchen manager at a well known chain and he states that yanbu. You should get what you have ordered and payed for. That is quite expensive for beans on toast though

Instead of putting a thread on here how about actually speaking to the restaurant and asking if you can have a replacement. It does sound weird as they’ve presumed. Not a massively big deal just a slight error of judgment because they felt they knew you and remember what you don’t like.

Mums sometimes people start threads just for the hoot of it, for a laugh.

I know, I know it's confusing as you don't see too much of it these days - MN has become rather shouty and serious of late - but personally I find threads like this a welcome relief from all the "AIBU to piss on their chips" malarky.

If it's not to your taste there are plenty of others out there.

Yabu BUT, they should probably ask when you order. A quick “did you just want that with one slice of toast?” Would be polite. I wouldn’t really expect anything instead of toast if you’re concerned about calories, but you could also ask when you order, as others have suggested.

They're actually doing the right thing. You don't eat it and so its a waste. You have no intention of eating it so i don't see the problem.

It's a moot point. It's a restaurant. You are paying for it. If you wanted to wear it as underpants, it's yours. IF you wanted to throw it away IT'S YOURS! The people bitchin about waste are free to root through the garbage and get it If they wish. Until then it's yours and should be there

I ordered very clearly, finger on menu, I'll have the beans on the two toast dedadedum.

It WORKED!

So to avoid any doubt for future assumptions on their behalf, I left the crusts! Hopefully eating one slice worth without only eating one slice. Hell to the yeah. Anarchist.
