To alert you to the fact that Topshop just changed its policy to let men into the women's changing rooms

Been made aware of this today: a 'gender fluid' man having a pop at Topshop because he wasn't allowed to use the women's changing rooms at their Manchester store:

twitter.com/travisalabanza/status/927198660089339904

Topshop have now been quoted as apologising to him, and saying they've changed their policy to get rid of sex-segregated changing rooms altogether.

Another shop to strike off the list. Am I the only one worried this is past the point of no return? Angry

Oh no, what a horror knowing that there may be someone of the opposite sex on the other side of the seperator

Clockworklime, would you also say this to a transwoman or the 'gender fluid' man who sparked this thread if they protested at being told to use the men's changing room?

If not, why not?

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 08/11/2017 10:00

Because Clock is either a) a man or b) a 'woke' woman, like

sailorcherries · 08/11/2017 10:13

Clockwork you will care if your 12-year-old daughter is getting changed at the swimming pool and any man with a penis can change beside her once the new Act becomes law.

I've used over 50 different swimming pools, I've changed in them thousands of times. Each and every time there has been a 50/50 chance of a man being in the cubicle next to mine. This happened from the age of 8 upwards. It has never been an issue.

sourpatchkid · 08/11/2017 10:19

Those of you who don’t think this is horrifying are seriously naive. This isn’t about equal rights and being cool.

There have been several cases of trans/gender fluid/whatever men (that’s men with penis’) sexually abusing women and children. This isn’t daily mail bullshit, my DH works with the offenders and I work with the victims. How interesting that the first place to hit the media on this is a space for young girls.

Topshop have lost the fuckin plot!

Papayamum · 08/11/2017 10:24

Whilst I do think that women need safe spaces from straight males, I'm not sure how we can guard women against other perverted women.

Datun · 08/11/2017 10:26

Because the people who you shared your changing area with were presumably, decent men or you would have had a problem.

Unlike the twat in the opening post.

We have unisex areas. We have nice, decent men who use them.

People like Travis are going to extraordinary lengths to gain entry, to previously women only areas, despite a significant number of women not wanting that.

Travis is not nice, not decent.

Do you not understand the difference here?

And people like Travis, and other transactivists aren’t the slightest bit interested in unisex areas.

They actively campaig against them. They don’t want them. They want to violate women’s boundaries. Partly because it gets them off, and party because it’s important to force people to accept them as women.

sailorcherries · 08/11/2017 10:27

Sourpatch it's not fucking horrifying to remove same sex changing areas to create neutral changing rooms. It has been happening for years.
As long as the changing areas are staffed, as long as the cubicles offer decency (which should happen in same sex changing facilities) there is not an issue.

No one is taking away all the cubicles. No one is forcing everyone to strip down to the nude together.

In this instance it is not horrifying. Trans men and people who identify as men can use male changing rooms.

Not once has a company come out and said "only people with a penis can use this room but anyone can use this", it isn't the case. Making changing rooms neutral is not a bad thing.

As has been mentioned many shops and facilities do this. Are you going to demand they change to single sex? Are you going to boycott them?

Datun · 08/11/2017 10:27

Whilst I do think that women need safe spaces from straight males, I'm not sure how we can guard women against other perverted women.

What perverted women? Do you mean the ones who make up 2% of the statistics? Because I’ll take my chances in that case.

LittleBlueDoll · 08/11/2017 10:28

And sailorcherries, how about my vulnerable mental health patient who had experienced years of sexual abuse. She only wanted a female Care Coordinator and only women to do home visits. Do you also not care about her right to ask for this? Or would you be happy to send Travis on one of the days that he identifies as a woman?

Datun · 08/11/2017 10:29

Not once has a company come out and said "only people with a penis can use this room but anyone can use this", it isn't the case. Making changing rooms neutral is not a bad thing.

So why do you think people like Travis don’t want that?

Papayamum · 08/11/2017 10:29

No Datum, I don't think you realise that there are a larger proportion of female perverts than we might think.

Have you never had to deal with leery looks from other women? I have, and its not pleasant.

sailorcherries · 08/11/2017 10:31

A bit of a sweeping statement no?

Because the people who you shared your changing area with were presumably, decent men or you would have had a problem.

Another sweeping statement. I've no idea if the Tom, Dick or Harry next door beats his wife, abuses animals, snorts cocaine on a daily basis or does any number of things I woukd consider not decent. You do not know that either.

You cannot know who is next to you, if the woman next to you is 'decent'. That's life and has never been an issue to me.

Datun · 08/11/2017 10:33

Not once has a company come out and said "only people with a penis can use this room but anyone can use this"

You’re wrong about that. Have you not read the threads? In the overwhelming number of cases the women’s are turned into gender neutral and the men’s remains the men’s.

Something, incidentally, I simply don’t understand.

Well, I do. Because it’s women who have to budge up. Not men.

People are too scared to anger trans-activists. Because they know what kind of power they wield. Because they're men.

ALittleBitOfButter · 08/11/2017 10:33

Papayamum, no I never have. Do you have any other info?

sailorcherries · 08/11/2017 10:33

Littlebluedoll are you being obtuse on purpose?

I have said before that people should have the right to exptess their wishes in regards to the biological sex of a person caring intimately for them. That is not the same as, or equal to, having a unisex changing room and until we are forced to change in large open plan facilities with no privacy, it will not be the same.

Datun · 08/11/2017 10:33

Can you link to the statistics that?

LittleBlueDoll · 08/11/2017 10:34

Sailorcherries - do you also not care about the situation I mentioned above?

sailorcherries · 08/11/2017 10:34

Datun I have never once seen a shop with a gender neutral and men only changing area. So no, it is not an overhlwhelming number.

Papayamum · 08/11/2017 10:35

Other info?

Like what? When I wear more revealing clothing, I notice looks from women that suggest they're sexualising me. Men do it too, but I do notice women having a gawp as well.

Datun · 08/11/2017 10:35

A bit of a sweeping statement no?

Go online so you have found the answer to this. Say unisex areas are evidently the way forward.

And then watch what happens.

LittleBlueDoll · 08/11/2017 10:35

Thanks for reply - unfortunately it all leads to the same thing. Either biological sex matters or it doesn’t. Toilets and changing rooms are probably the least of the worries regarding rights that are being lost for women

Papayamum · 08/11/2017 10:36

I can't link any stats. Why would I be the main subject of 2% female pervs? There must be more than that.

sailorcherries · 08/11/2017 10:36

Littlebluedoll I'm sure that having the right to express the sex of someone dealing intimately with you falls in to the category you mentioned above. As you know the in-home carers are in an intimate setting.
