Long and boring- sorry.

We've been on the council list for a while now. Yesterday, we were offered a place. It's PERFECT.

The officer than came back to check ours. That's when we came back down to earth with a bump...

She's told us that, as the place is ready now, we may not be able to do the work in time (I asked for a week). That's painting the place magnolia, and a deep clean (we have cats).

She's going back to the office on Monday, and it would put us in good stead, I think, to be able to tell her that we've already painted, nd the deep clean is booked (it is- first thing I did)

Give me hope, please? I spent last night sobbing my heart out (unlike me- I'm one tough mf).

On a side note, we feel we should have been told what was expected of us BEFORE we viewed...we could have done it way before now!

It's mainly just me and DH. My DB will give us a few hours this afternoon, and I've had tentative offers of help from a friend- but she has so much on that I wouldn't be surprised if she cried off. (She's lovely- she's just going through a berevement)

I can see the hall being an issue, it's Noddy Hat Blue!

Please give me hope? I'm going to make a start now before the DC wake up, and I have to start working around them!

Only just read this thread but I'm totally overinvested in it already. Here's hoping you can get the new place!

AtlanticWaves · 07/11/2017 09:21

I find lavender essentiel oil smells really strongly. Obviously you'd have to dilute it though.

Good luck!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 09:35

She was COMPLETELY different on the phone on Monday! Professional, etc. Either because:

She was in the office and being overheard

Or (DH's reasoning)

She'd gone in, all guns blazing, and the Wednesday woman had told her about the conversation we had on the phone, making what she had said about timing etc null and bullshit! (Nullshit? 😅)

Right...I'm banished to the bedroom while the cleaners work their magic...

I have the kettle (had to move it out of the kitchen)

I have Judge Judy factual programmes on the TV ..

Would it be wrong for me to chill for a few hours?

Not impressed that I've managed ti lose over a stone in weight over the past few days (I needed to lose it- but not like this).

Over a stone in weight over a few days?! I think your scales might need new batteries!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 09:44

Ffs...half a stone! Sorry. And yup- checked at Tesco too (always weighs me lb heavier)

I’d put the cats in a cat test for 48 hours. You only get one chance at getting this house.
If you can’t or won’t do that at least load them into their carrier and put them and their litter tray in your car / round a friend’s house for the morning when the inspector comes.

Windows open till 30 minutes before she comes, then heating on and Febreze spray everywhere in that last half hour.

And- can I say this gently- maybe review your cat litter arrangements next time? We have a cat who uses a tray some of the time but not all- there’s no odour. There really doesn’t have to be a smell with animals if you clean properly.

Good luck :)

Venusflytwat · 07/11/2017 09:59

Cattery!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 10:05

And-can I say this gently

You can't offend me...virtually impossible, trust me!

You're completely right, of course! The original two cats were rescued from someone who- well, let's say that, although living with us was not ideal, the alternative would have been unthinkable. We got Arnie spayed- but, unknown to us, Dennis was already pregnant!

Since then, we've all been sort of squeezed in here. We have the two original, plus Dumbledore (one of the kittens). The place was never going to smell un-catty, was it? I should have taken measures before tbh.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/11/2017 10:10

Oh I've loved this thread. Well done OP

I am stealing "nullshit" too Grin

64BooLane · 07/11/2017 10:13

Everything crossed for you OP. You’re awesome.

Pretenditsaplan · 07/11/2017 10:14

Wooo. BUT STOP BLOODY WEIGHING YOURSELF. you dont need that stress right now!

FluffyWhiteTowels · 07/11/2017 10:22

You're brilliant Op. and to keep so amazingly chipper through all this

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 10:23

Pretend don't worry- already spotted the signs... and at a time like this when I feel a little out of control in other areas of my life, I need to be careful.

Fluffy the day there's nothing to laugh at is the day I throw in the (fluffy white) towel!

If I don't laugh, my face will sag, and I'll look like Susan Sarandon!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 11:11

Tmi...just to bring the thread down to my usual standard...

The hall smells (beautifully) of bleach...

And I need a pee!

(They're deep cleaning the bathroom atm)

OP posts:
Venusflytwat · 07/11/2017 11:27

Sounds like you’re on the right track :)

Go and pee at someone else’s house 😂

Pretenditsaplan · 07/11/2017 11:29

Pee in the sink... you know it wont be the first time bahahhahahahah

Gudgyx · 07/11/2017 12:13

They better give you this bloody house now after all the effort you have put in, well done you!!

Not so secret follow right here, I'll be checking back tomorrow to make sure you get the house

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 12:19

They've gone. Someone seems to have stolen my kitchen floor and replaced it with a light one!

😀

It wasn't that bad, really! I need to crack on and put the kitchen equipment back.

TheWhyteRoseShallRiseAgain · 07/11/2017 15:03

Really hoping she is impressed (who couldn't be?!)

Pretenditsaplan · 07/11/2017 15:24

Wooooo

SisyphusHadItEasy · 07/11/2017 16:46

I am overly invested in this thread. I live in Canada, but if you don't get the new house, give me this woman's address and I will grab the nearest kayak and come over to give her a piece of my mind.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 17:00

So there is STILL the faint whiff of cat pee in the closet.

I have less than 24 hours now!

My friend has suggested the dettol in a spray can- will this work?

I'm repainting the cupboard tonight!

Getting desperate now!
