Long and boring- sorry.

We've been on the council list for a while now. Yesterday, we were offered a place. It's PERFECT.

The officer than came back to check ours. That's when we came back down to earth with a bump...

She's told us that, as the place is ready now, we may not be able to do the work in time (I asked for a week). That's painting the place magnolia, and a deep clean (we have cats).

She's going back to the office on Monday, and it would put us in good stead, I think, to be able to tell her that we've already painted, nd the deep clean is booked (it is- first thing I did)

Give me hope, please? I spent last night sobbing my heart out (unlike me- I'm one tough mf).

On a side note, we feel we should have been told what was expected of us BEFORE we viewed...we could have done it way before now!

It's mainly just me and DH. My DB will give us a few hours this afternoon, and I've had tentative offers of help from a friend- but she has so much on that I wouldn't be surprised if she cried off. (She's lovely- she's just going through a berevement)

I can see the hall being an issue, it's Noddy Hat Blue!

Please give me hope? I'm going to make a start now before the DC wake up, and I have to start working around them!

Nope- I totally get you! 😃

It was never going to be long before the random ideas started entering my head though...

No tables stuck to the ceiling, or amything likr that...just that the brick wallpaper has inspired me.

I'm SERIOUSLY thinking of making a TV stand, coffee table, etc, out of bricks. Reclaimed bricks and wood.

And usually-sensible DH actually likes the idea!

Lovely room. It feels like how I think of you if you know what I mean.

Oh that sounds a bit creepy. 😝

That's what I was thinking. I want red in the kitchen too- it's big enough to carry it off.

It looks good now, but will look lovely and cosy if you paint the wall red. I did that in one of my previous houses, painted the chimney breast a deep brick red. It looked great.

Just popped on to post this...

Finally, one room in the house feels "done". Box-free. I'll repaint the main wall red at some point, but I'm happy as it is for now.

Was it Noddy blue? 😅 Our glosswork was the same color as the "post" and "preview" buttons on this page! Fairly easy to cover though: we went over them with the magnolia we used to paint the walls, and then two coats of white gloss.

I feel REALLY blessed this morning: someonr who is fast becoming a friend needs help with moving. It sounds naff, but I thought I'd be waiting for ages for the chance to pay it forward- all the help I got in RL, and support on here, etc. Now I may not have to wait long at all!

I also have —mumsnet juice— wifi now!!!!!!

How weird, we call everything......juice too! Food juice, whisky juice, electricity juice etc.

You done good, girl! We employed 3 people to paint a 2 bed house with a huge stairwell in 2 days. Bloody marvellous, they worked overnight and had a dark blue bathroom to contend with, toook 5 coats!

Everyone has asked that! Maybe because Old Man Brown is not as offensive as yellow and turquoise? 😅

Ha! Sleeping on the curtains!

The cats have decided that the blanket box is theirs to sleep in. Sod the fact that they've got three times as much room as they had...a tiny blanket box it is!

thinking of joining them

Little did you know Grin

I personally don't like it but it's not my house, whatever floats your boat (and your dh's) is all that matters 😊

Good wishes for many happy years in your new home 🏡

That just sent shivers down my spine...

May I steal this please? I have a huge piece of white board I was thinking of painting a sunset on...but I want to script that ^^ on it instead now.

On a more boring note...is this really naff?

THE HOUSE
The cornerstone in Truth is laid,
The guardian walls of Honour made,
The roof of Faith is built above,
The fire upon the hearth is Love:
Though rains descend and loud winds call,
This happy house shall never fall.

THE DOORSTEAD
The lintel low enough to keep out pomp and pride:
The threshold high enough to turn deceit aside:
The doorband strong enough from robbers to defend:
This door will open at a touch to welcome every friend.

THE HEARTHSTONE
When the logs are burning free,
Then the fire is full of glee:
When each heart gives out its best,
Then the talk is full of zest:
Light your fire and never fear,
Life was made for love and cheer.

THE SUN-DIAL
Time can never take
What Time did not give;
When my shadows have all passed,
You shall live.

WE HAVE A LOUNGE!

I fell down the stairs...that's them christened then.

It was like an episode of Benny Hill here earlier. DH and the guy (workmate) who helped drag all the heavy stuff...there's a language barrier between them (I speak Polish, so usually not an issue) and they were like "Pull...wait...STOP!...huh?...pardon?" with me flitting between the two, translating.

We now have somewhere to sleep, the cooker is set up, there's a pasta bake in the oven and...this'll do for a bit.

I also have mumsnet juice wifi now!!!!!!
