Long and boring- sorry.

We've been on the council list for a while now. Yesterday, we were offered a place. It's PERFECT.

The officer than came back to check ours. That's when we came back down to earth with a bump...

She's told us that, as the place is ready now, we may not be able to do the work in time (I asked for a week). That's painting the place magnolia, and a deep clean (we have cats).

She's going back to the office on Monday, and it would put us in good stead, I think, to be able to tell her that we've already painted, nd the deep clean is booked (it is- first thing I did)

Give me hope, please? I spent last night sobbing my heart out (unlike me- I'm one tough mf).

On a side note, we feel we should have been told what was expected of us BEFORE we viewed...we could have done it way before now!

It's mainly just me and DH. My DB will give us a few hours this afternoon, and I've had tentative offers of help from a friend- but she has so much on that I wouldn't be surprised if she cried off. (She's lovely- she's just going through a berevement)

I can see the hall being an issue, it's Noddy Hat Blue!

Please give me hope? I'm going to make a start now before the DC wake up, and I have to start working around them!

www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/simple-solution-stain-and-odour-remover-750ml

If you have a Pets at Home near you, try this.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 17:07

On it. Thank you.

Try white vinegar to get rid of smell (better the smell of a chippy than cat wee)
it also stops cats "going "in that area again
Good luck in your new home Flowers

@Gudgyx give me this woman's address and I will grab the nearest kayak and come over to give her a piece of my mind.

That is such a wonderfully Canadian threat!

Radley you are an absolute superhero. I have fingers, toes, everything crossed for the inspection.

NoFucksImAQueen · 07/11/2017 17:32

Ooh Iv only just found this thread but I'm so rooting for you!

Venusflytwat · 07/11/2017 17:33

How’s it going?

rattybgood · 07/11/2017 17:38

Finger toes and everything crossed for you... good luck

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 17:38

Have to admit I'm flagging a little now.

This is how it's going to be...

I'm allowed as many tears as I like, until 6pm. If I want to howl like a baby, I will.

Then I pick myself up. No more tears allowed.

You don't have to paint it magnolia unless it's in your contract. When I moved in my flat it was still gherishly pink from the previous owner

Shesaid · 07/11/2017 17:46

Yes.. stand up for your rights on this one. It's yours.

SecretSix · 07/11/2017 17:54

The pets at home odour stuff really works, Sixdog was incontinent by the end and we used it all over. Good luck, sounds like you’ve done a great job.

kastiekastie · 07/11/2017 18:00

could you pay a decorator to line all the walls quickly with a magnolia - scrubbable- wallpaper? If it's one colour everywhere it should save time and money.

Ecureuil · 07/11/2017 18:05

kastiekastie she has painted it now.

AnnaleeP · 07/11/2017 18:05

If you repaint the cupboard I reckon that will do it. At the very least the paint smell will mask it. I'm really impressed with the work you've done though!

Is the inspection tomorrow?

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 18:07

Sorry...back now. Yes, at 3pm.

Sarahrelly Don't say that after the OP and her team have worked themselves to the bone to redecorate it.

Monstermuncher · 07/11/2017 18:15

Good luck for tomorrow OP!

SandyDenny · 07/11/2017 18:15

Fingers corssed for you.

Silly question but what exacly does a deep clean involve?

Mummy2one2016 · 07/11/2017 18:18

Just sat on binge read OP. I'm amazed and what you all managed in such a short space of time. I have everything crossed it all works out for you.

Lindsxxx · 07/11/2017 18:29

ANOther one totally rooting for you, and if they turn around and say you can’t have the house I think you really should have a Benny at them for a) making you paint it “neutral” when you moved into it in such a state and b) not making it clear in the first place that you needed to do this in order to even think about getting a new place!
Best of British to you xx

BeautyQueenFromMars · 07/11/2017 18:30

I will be working with my fingers firmly crossed for you tomorrow OP. You are bloody awesome and you absolutely deserve to get the new home you want. Good luck!!

BriechonCheese · 07/11/2017 18:35

Vodka in a spray bottle got rid of a cat wee smell in our garage when we bought this place. Also orange oil helped too.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 18:42

Thank you guys.

DH is now painting the cupboard.

Luckily (I can't believe I'm using that word in this sentence) we have just spotted a little of the skirting board that we missed, which needs to be done. Right by the cat cupboard. IN VILE STINKY GLOSS PAINT!

Hopefully that will overpower any lingering whiff!

I’m so rooting for you. My mum had a similar experience when she moved out of her council flat. She had to paint over our orange and green bedroom and put red cupboard. Nightmare.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 18:46

Orange and green sounds interesting...

It sounds silly, but I think I'm cfeeling so bleugh because I miss my color! I know it's temporary though.

I even watched the Care Bears eaelier on out of desperation
