Long and boring- sorry.

We've been on the council list for a while now. Yesterday, we were offered a place. It's PERFECT.

The officer than came back to check ours. That's when we came back down to earth with a bump...

She's told us that, as the place is ready now, we may not be able to do the work in time (I asked for a week). That's painting the place magnolia, and a deep clean (we have cats).

She's going back to the office on Monday, and it would put us in good stead, I think, to be able to tell her that we've already painted, nd the deep clean is booked (it is- first thing I did)

Give me hope, please? I spent last night sobbing my heart out (unlike me- I'm one tough mf).

On a side note, we feel we should have been told what was expected of us BEFORE we viewed...we could have done it way before now!

It's mainly just me and DH. My DB will give us a few hours this afternoon, and I've had tentative offers of help from a friend- but she has so much on that I wouldn't be surprised if she cried off. (She's lovely- she's just going through a berevement)

I can see the hall being an issue, it's Noddy Hat Blue!

Please give me hope? I'm going to make a start now before the DC wake up, and I have to start working around them!

Right. I am ready.

The temptation to start the phone call with a complaint, as the two team members (one on the Wed, and Cruella on the Fri) gave me such opposite information is huge. Do I stick to business and get it sorted first, or do I complain at the same time?

Get the keys and then complain about the system. Good luck today. Hope it all goes through. You deserve it after working so hard all weekend.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 06/11/2017 06:43

That's what I thought.

Temptation to write "encoule" in TINY writing behind the radiator is also huge. I'm typing it here so I don't actually do it! 😅

Stick to business, get it signed for and Then complain.

Well done!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 06/11/2017 07:18

Re: the photos. My camera is SHITE! I've taken them, but they make the magnolia look yellow.

This was before we cleaned the paint off the floor. (Ignore the broken cat tree- DH left it there to take down to the trash) It's really not as yellow as this.

NOT boring! INSANE though! Grin Fingers crossed for you Flowers

FeelingAggrieved · 06/11/2017 07:21

Looks good!

Although I'm surprised you were made to paint it if it wasn't magnolia when you moved in? I really would have argued that.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 06/11/2017 07:21

Judas I don't think I've ever started a thread that DIDN'T turn batshit at some point tbh...😅

Hallway looks lovely btw!

SillyMoomin · 06/11/2017 07:25

Good luck op!!!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 06/11/2017 07:31

I'm very tempted to text the mobile number at 8.30, just to outline what I've done. But I'm a little nervous that (unlikely but...) it may be her personal mobile number, nd not a work one?

I've always worked in client-based areas (MIND, Rethink, etc) and the amount of times I've bumped into a client at a bar or whatever, and they assume I'm "on" still...I tried not to mind, but it grated a little. So you can see, if it's her personal mobile number, I'd be doing the same! (I'm an overthinker). Cruella or not, she deserves some privacy.

Good luck OP!
I really, really wouldn't complain until you have signed paperwork and got keys. This woman may have the power to keep you from the new property. What if she is the vindictive type?
I think it is sensible to word things as though you and she had an absolutely done-deal, as long as the painting and cleaning were completed.
" I am very grateful to you for your clear guidance which was very helpful. I attach photographs of the completed works, as discussed. The requested deep-clean is taking place today. I look forward to hearing from you about next steps".
It needs to be an email that makes it more complicated for her to NOT offer you the new home than to do so. She would need to offer justification now for rescinding the offer but it's sensible to remind her of that.
Fingers firmly crossed for you.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 06/11/2017 07:40

If you were given the mobile number in a professional context then it seems reasonable to use it. If it gives you the heebie-jeebies, perhaps hold off pressing send until 9am?

Coldhandscoldheart · 06/11/2017 07:40

Didn’t have anything to offer on this thread before, but was rooting for you.
Yes you should use the number she gave you. If it’s her personal number, and she didn’t want it used, she shouldn’t have handed it out.

I know what you mean about being shy of doing stuff, but this is YOUR HOUSE that you really want, and your family wants. Get it done! And don’t apologise!

Coldhandscoldheart · 06/11/2017 07:42

And what Mabel says! You have an agreement with this woman, you ave done the things, when can you pick up the keys?

kaytee87 · 06/11/2017 07:44

It won’t be her personal number op don’t worry. If she gave you that number then it means she doesn’t mind you contacting her on it.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 06/11/2017 07:47

So...the text...

Hi there- Radley here. You assessed my flat on Friday, and gave me a list of requirements. Namely to decorate in a more "neutral" theme, clean the house, and get it ready to let. Just to let you know that the flat is now painted Magnolia all through, I have booked professionals to deep-clean (initial visit at 10.30 this morning) and it is neutral and presentable. I have photos I can forward."

SandSnakeofDorne · 06/11/2017 07:47

Wow, well done! I would text her.

SandSnakeofDorne · 06/11/2017 07:48
