Tell me I can get the whole place walloped in a weekend...

Long and boring- sorry.

We've been on the council list for a while now. Yesterday, we were offered a place. It's PERFECT.

The officer than came back to check ours. That's when we came back down to earth with a bump...

She's told us that, as the place is ready now, we may not be able to do the work in time (I asked for a week). That's painting the place magnolia, and a deep clean (we have cats).

She's going back to the office on Monday, and it would put us in good stead, I think, to be able to tell her that we've already painted, nd the deep clean is booked (it is- first thing I did)

Give me hope, please? I spent last night sobbing my heart out (unlike me- I'm one tough mf).

On a side note, we feel we should have been told what was expected of us BEFORE we viewed...we could have done it way before now!

It's mainly just me and DH. My DB will give us a few hours this afternoon, and I've had tentative offers of help from a friend- but she has so much on that I wouldn't be surprised if she cried off. (She's lovely- she's just going through a berevement)

I can see the hall being an issue, it's Noddy Hat Blue!

Please give me hope? I'm going to make a start now before the DC wake up, and I have to start working around them!

Tip from me for tonorrow. Empty and scrub the litter box so it's super fresh. Cats will then immediately use it, then you can scoop it and freshen it up and it should last until after the inspection.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 18:49

Hellon absolutely. But the litter box is staying on the balcony anyway until tomorrow.

Julia001 · 07/11/2017 19:13

I am so invested in this thread now, Can you please ask DH why it takes him a fucking MONTH to decorate ONE ROOM when there are superheroes like you around :-)

SugaredSocks · 07/11/2017 19:21

Just found this thread and now I’m so overly invested in you getting your new place. With all your hard work you so deserve it. Flowers

CaptainHammer · 07/11/2017 19:28

Good luck OP!

Zoflora is amazing for taking smells away 59p in home and bargain use neat. Or mix with water in a spray bottle i do this for air freshener.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 19:39

I've just opened the cat cupboard.

It

Smells

Like...

PAINT!!!!!

And I actually stood in there for as long as I could stand it (shit scared of the dark-I sleep with the light on!) and...just paint!!

And I would smell it if it was still there. As I mentioned before, I'm registered blind (finger count in one eye, 1m in another) so my other senses are enhanced.

If I start getting paranoid about it between now and tomorrow, I'll be putting a small amount of Jeyse Fluid down, and shitting the door. (Cats will not be going back in there, and I promise the door will be firmly shut at all times).

Back on it now. The kids' room, which I was convinced smellt a bit catty (not peeful, just catty) now smells like febreeze and...well...clean!

Our room is still a bombsite, but tbh I'm not too bothered about that. The only thing Cruella complained about in here was a few marks where the gerbil started to nibble a tiny bit of wallpaper and kept ripping! (FYI gerbils are bastards. This particular one is called Chucky, so I think evil is in his DNA).

DH has just turned around and told me, almost casually, that he's asked for- and got!- the day off tomorrow! I won't have to face her alone!

AND he bought me vegan yoghurt! Think I may keep him around for a while. Or swap him for another cat...

Oh fuck a moose...I'm BACK! 😅

Another positive: I fell out with a very close friend back in March. I was DEVASTATED...cried for days. We started tentatively chatting over email again a few weeks ago. It's been a little awkward, as you can imagine. But since Friday, because we've rebonded over shitty housing situations, it's dispelled any awkwardness left. The original bond is back iyswim?

I am SO grateful to Cruella! Funny thing to say, but, even if she fails me tomorrow, she's given me so much over this weekend. People came out of holes, out from under duvets, and out from behind keyboards/phone keypads just to support me!

Oh, and if you're reasing the last post rolling your eyes and calling me PollyFuckingAnna, you won't be the first. It's actually a stsnding joke between us lot here..."PollyFuckingAnna will sort it" 😅😅

We moved into a stinky wet dog cupboard when we moved house. Cleaning and painting it did shift it! I think you are fine now! If that bit of floor smells, could you paint there too?!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 19:56

I'm ashamed to say I did the butt-in-the-air-nose-to-the-ground sniff test on the floor. It was definitely the cupboard.

can't wait to read about it tomorrow. 😀

Sjmonroe · 07/11/2017 20:33

Ahh good luck! Hope you get it! I never comment but just had to on this :)

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 20:35

Thank you!

Good news- I've manage to completely melon my knee falling off the kitchen counter. DH is now FORCING me to rest. Much needed, I can admit now.

It means I'm not wandering aimlessly around the house looking for things we may fail on.

HellonHeels · 07/11/2017 20:46

Good luck for tomorrow! And keep feet at ground level! Flowers

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/11/2017 20:50

Hellonheels I'm hell on just normal feet!

Seriously...it's bad enough tripping over your own feet, but when your feet are a size 2...they're more like hooves! Who trips over hooves?
