To wonder where the fuck my face went????

Had the first opportunity/occasion to put on a proper face of make up since I had DS. Had a leisurely shower, a face mask, sat down with a small amount of actual time to myself, excited to feel like Peapod again rather than a washed out Mammy. I applied my usual evening 'face', which used to look nice I think yet I somehow looked like a clown. I've aged soooo badly!! My face has sagged and is certainly not where I left it last time I paid it proper attention. What the hell gravity? I didn't sign up for this shit!

Anyone else care to share the point they realised they were no longer youthful? Or more importantly, tips to give the illusion that my face is still on the front of my head rather than dangling below my jaw?

blueshoes I do think the menopause has a lot to answer for in terms of the drop in oestrogen. I'm not there yet but probably peri menopausal. Can't wait! Interestingly I can tell when I'm ovulating as I look better and my face is plumper in a good way, afterwards I look older! I can see the oestrogen drop in my face (sounds woo but I'm not joking).

And yes carrying extra weight I'm sure helps but the most important thing is to maintain a steady weight.

blueshoes · 02/11/2017 11:32

Delatron, interesting your experience of the oestrogen drop. Peri-menopause is when it all starts, I am afraid. At least you can see it coming.

Now that I am post-menopausal, I have to slather oil on my face all day to keep it from breaking up. I am holding you to your word that I will look the same from now on until 70.

In terms of weight, I think excess weight is one of the most age-ing things. It is difficult choice to have to choose between your face and arse.

Littlechocola · 02/11/2017 11:38

alwaysanauntie Thank you, I’ll keep looking!

Littlechocola · 02/11/2017 12:29

Ahh, it’s now called boing

MsHarry · 02/11/2017 14:30

29??????? Jeeeez try 46!

MsHarry · 02/11/2017 14:38

I have '11' in the centre of my forehead. it makes me look cross. At 46 I don't have many other lines apart from crow's feet. I'd love to have botox but scared and couldn't bare to pay all that money out. I have a fringe instead!

MsHarry · 02/11/2017 14:39

Yes fivefour isn't the saying "Choose between your face or your bum?"

MsHarry · 02/11/2017 14:49

Here we go ladies. It's in the DM so must be true!www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/article-2609089/Eat-way-younger-skin-28-days-Boost-skin-lose-12lb-reverse-wrinkles.html

I did think I looked old at 30 but honestly it was probably just a bit of tiredness/bad diet an I really didn't look old at all. Skin still has lots more collagen then. I know we all age at different rates but enjoy the 30's. I wish I hadn't stressed about ageing then and had believed it when people said I looked young for my age. I do think it's the 40's where it really takes hold.

On another note, I have just bought something called 'nanoblur' which is like polyfiller for wrinkles and it is working well on 11's. Whilst I put off Botox...

MsHarry · 02/11/2017 17:25

Ooh Dela tell me more...

Gingernaut · 02/11/2017 18:08

Nanoblur and the like, is a last 'blurring' layer of light diffusing gel which reduces the appearance but doesn't treat pores and light wrinkles.

I'm currently using a Maybelline Baby Skin product called pore eraser.

To wonder where the fuck my face went????
Delatron · 02/11/2017 18:21

Yes doesn't treat wrinkles, more of a temporary 'filler'. I've tried lots of these for my 11's and not had huge success, then read rave reviews about this nanoblur and must say I am impressed. It's £25 from Boots. That and a fringe and I reckon I can hold of on the Botox for a few years!

IOnceAdoredARodent · 02/11/2017 19:00

It's well known that at any time after 35 your face can drop off in the night.
I can confirm this, alas.

Tookawrongturnsomewhere · 02/11/2017 19:38

Jaw line.. What was that?! I saw a photo of myself yesterday.... I wish there was a makeover fairy who could just appear. I don't have the make up skills to deal with this! I think not smiling is making it worse but hard to smile tho when it's so blooming depressing.... This thread is definitely helping..

MaidOfStars · 02/11/2017 19:40

Yes yes to Nanoblur/pore eraser/etc.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 02/11/2017 21:22

I tried an experiment once, when I added 10 years to my age so that people could say "You look so young for your age!" Nobody did. Christ, that was depressing

EllieThornton I'm so sorry to say that made me smile. I' sure they were all thinking it. Flowers

Fatbergs · 03/11/2017 07:06

Meanwhile, over here, mh face i getting flatter and wider....my mouth has suddenly gone like kermits. Anybody else?

thewrinklefairy · 03/11/2017 07:47

Botulinum toxin, fillers, micro-needling - simples!

Olddear · 03/11/2017 07:55

Hah! Wait 'til you get to my age! My face is like Salvador Dalis' clock

thenightsky · 03/11/2017 08:00

I've realised that my jawline has the same outline as Deputy Dawg. Droopy jowls. There's not a product in a jar or tube in the world gonna fix that, no siree.

Freshme · 03/11/2017 14:00

I just followed the advice to look in the mirror while bending over 😱
Turns out the whole face just droops forward, except bits under the eyes which seem to be attached to the bone, but turn purple and wrinkly. I'm deeply traumatised.

hmcAsWas · 03/11/2017 14:03

My face started to show proper ageing from mid 40's. Now 49. I have uneven pigmentation of the skin now and some deep lines.

Best to just accept it (i.e. not to try and fight it - resistance is futile!) and be the best you can be. I am content to look good 'for my age'

MsHarry · 03/11/2017 14:04

Thanks for nanoblur info. I found the Dragons Blood serum very good but have finished it now. Was about £20 I think but got a deal on here. I bought a 10xmag mirror for doing my eyebrows and I can tell you there is nothing worse than what you see in that. Hairs I didn't know I had!! The only good thing is the relief when you look back in a normal mirror and realise you can't see them!

MsHarry · 03/11/2017 14:06

I just followed the advice to look in the mirror while bending over 😱

This has made me rethink some bedroom positions....my poor DH!
