The results from last night aren’t just important because they reflect how galvanised the dems are, it’ll have tangible effects on making voting more democratic

Today's Dem wins were a major victory for voting rights. NJ & WA may pass automatic registration & VA Dems will block GOP legislative gerrymandering
This could have a huge impact on the 2018 elections. Look at this voter breakdown - sadly but unsurprisingly, were only white men voting, Gillespie would have comfortably won.
Another data point as to why this will be good for 2018:

This says a lot about turnout.
2016 VA exit poll: 67% white, 21% black, 6% Latino
2017 VA exit poll: 67% white, 21% black, 6% Latino
Same proportions. (Given normal MOE.) Usually midterm years and off-years feature a whiter electorate. Benefits GOP in a big way. Not tonight
If even more POC are able to vote in 2018 because they are not disenfranchised, it’ll be very good news
