Manafort Destiny? Trump continued

Where will the charges against Manafort lead? Whose shredders are overheating today? And most importantly, when will the Tweetstorm-from-the-loo start?

does he have 280 characters now? That seems like a longer tweet

Sadly yes

Lweji · 08/11/2017 07:09

It's nice to wake up to some good news. :)

Roussette · 08/11/2017 07:10

Warning everyone - Trump has just been given 280 characters on Twitter. Expect more inchorent bilge.

Alwaysinmyheart · 08/11/2017 07:18

Or...more rope to hang himself!

Roussette · 08/11/2017 07:20

That should read incoherent. Can't type Smile

Lweji · 08/11/2017 07:28

Inchorent is a good term to use in this instance. Covfefe.

At least the 280 characters will save us from hours waiting for the following tweet and from the dot dot dot, dot dot dot dot. Colbert won't be pleased, though.

Fekko · 08/11/2017 07:32

Is 280 for everyone? That's just doubled my workload!!

Lweji · 08/11/2017 07:33

Btw, today is the 8th November.
Anniversary of one of the darkest days in US history. Possibly the world's.

IIRC, Trump is part of an experimental group. It was announced weeks ago.

The results from last night aren’t just important because they reflect how galvanised the dems are, it’ll have tangible effects on making voting more democratic

Stephen Wolf
@PoliticsWolf
Today's Dem wins were a major victory for voting rights. NJ & WA may pass automatic registration & VA Dems will block GOP legislative gerrymandering

This could have a huge impact on the 2018 elections. Look at this voter breakdown - sadly but unsurprisingly, were only white men voting, Gillespie would have comfortably won.

Another data point as to why this will be good for 2018:

Marshall Cohen
@Marshall_Cohen
This says a lot about turnout.

2016 VA exit poll: 67% white, 21% black, 6% Latino
2017 VA exit poll: 67% white, 21% black, 6% Latino

Same proportions. (Given normal MOE.) Usually midterm years and off-years feature a whiter electorate. Benefits GOP in a big way. Not tonight

If even more POC are able to vote in 2018 because they are not disenfranchised, it’ll be very good news

lionheart · 08/11/2017 08:08

Some people clearly should not be trusted with 280 characters but in Trump's case I'm with Always* and the rope with a dangling man theory. Grin

TheNorthWestPawsage · 08/11/2017 08:09

Huzzah! Go NJ! (DH's home state Grin)

TheNorthWestPawsage · 08/11/2017 08:12

Yep! At least 20% must be DH's family and friends!

According to CNN’s exits, Trump’s disapproval rating in NJ is 66 percent.

I saw Don Trump Jr eating in a restaurant this morn and am happy to report people were standing outside BOOING throughout his whole meal!

Kristen S Anderson
@KSoltisAnderson
Getting sleep, but final thought: The data out of SW VA suggest maybe you can turn your campaign into a McTrump franchise, somewhat, but that's of limited value in a state Trump lost.

Chris Hayes
@chrislhayes
this is really important: the Trump appeal worked in the most hard-core trump areas, which moved even further towards Gillespie. The backlash was just much much bigger

Hollyhop17 · 08/11/2017 08:26

It will be interesting to see how establishment republicans (Ryan etc) play this out in public. They will be even more worried about 2018 mid terms, but worried enough to finally distance themselves from Trump?

There was a great article on the post this morning about how Trumps disloyalty to republicans might start to backfire and provide them with the cover to start distancing themselves.

So nice to wake up to good election results for a change!

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 08/11/2017 08:34

If it was this article holly I found it a cheery read too!

Trump just made a bad night for Republicans much worse for himself

TheClaws · 08/11/2017 08:41

Roussette Fox did kinda sideways report it. They must have thought a long time before coming up with this - ‘’The Republicans didn’t lose this election - the Dems just got more votes”.

Grin

I’M SERIOUS!

Hollyhop17 · 08/11/2017 08:45

Yes, it was that one Pain! I've had a great morning binging on the Post and 538!

The Claws, that is amazing! Only on Fox...

Bless.

Then there is the question of whether Putin is getting what he wants from Trump.
