AIBU to expect my daughter to have privacy

I am sat in A&E with my daughter (medical student)

So far 8 of her tutors have come to check if she is okay, and I just wish they would leave her alone.

They are not directly involved in her care, and I think my daughter needs privacy. Or am I too emotional and they are just being caring?

YABU. I think it's nice that they are bothered about her. Some people aren't happy unless they have something to comolainabout!

They're probably just concerned as she's someone they know. If they're not asking intrusive questions just 'are you ok?' Then i can't see the problem? Wouldn't it be weirder if they saw each other and they just blanked her? Although i totally get that waiting in A&E is stressful

They probably are just being caring, but I understand when stressed and flustered you just need space

Is she well enough to talk to them?
If not, speak on her behalf and tell them she's resting.
If she can talk for herself, she can keep it short & polite or pretend to be sleeping!
To be fair, it's nice that they care about her enough.

Written it’ll be jungle drums. Med students often have lectures on hospital sites or rounds to do so staff are there also.

Nice that they care I'd say. If it's upsetting your dd then you could have a discrete word with the next one that pops in, but is she upset by it?

They're just being nice. Is she bothered by it? If so, have a quiet word with the next person to come in. It's really nice that they care.

Thanks guys, your right, they are just being caring, and my daughter is lucky enough to have people who care about her.

She is alright, she just has a broken rib and possible concussion, and is waiting for some scans.

My daughter is a medical student( hence why quite a few doctors know her) she got injured and in in A&E as a patient.

She has no opinion on visitors. Her current favorite word is "I dont know" eg:

how did you get injured = i dont know
shall I keep your tutors away = i dont know
are you in pain = i dont know

I hope she's back on her feet soon OP.

As a medical student she should get preferential treatment but if she's injured herself at work they will also be shitting them selves and covering their own arses !

I'd imagine that they're just concerned for her.

That being said, I was in hospital recently and the woman in the bed next to mine was a MW in the same hospital had fallen ill and been admitted. She had a stream of visitors from maternity who just wanted to see how she was, all day and night essentially, popping down on their breaks, before/after their shifts started etc and staying to chat for hours at a time in some instances. Absolutely no consideration for the fact that there are specific visiting times as they obviously work in the same hospital. It was incredibly disruptive and tbh annoyed a lot of the other patients who felt that she essentially had visitors as and when she wanted them while everyone else had to stick rigidly to certain visiting times.

In her defence it wasn't her fault and she was scared and no doubt appreciated the visits. But the colleagues should have had more consideration for the fact that there were other patients on the ward who did not have such privileges.

The fact that she’s answering “I don’t know” when asked how she got hurt would worry me more than caring visitors. Was she at home or at work?

See it as a reassurance as she is working and being trained by such caring people!

Ds is only 7 but because he is pretty well known he often has random adoctors and nurses nipping in for a visit when he is at the hospital.

A&E , my least favourite place to be a parent. Hope it works out ok.

She went to placement, started at 8am- collapsed at around 12 noon. Everyone says she was perfectly fine until she collapsed.

Therefore it probably happened last night or this morning. I don't think having her placement tutors around is helping the "i don't know situation"

Doctors have heard it all and are fairly non judgemental, but I still would not want my boss/lecturer hearing if I did something stupid.

The way I see it is unwell time=time away from uni, so no university people around.

The A&E staff are actually did a good job of giving her privacy by keeping the other two students that were on placement with her well away.
