To wonder what the hell? A Domino's pizza is £20??

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 20:29

Dd is having a party and has asked for Domino's. I haven't had a Domino's pizza for about 25 years. Just went on the website and one large pizza is £20!

So 7 pizzas would cost £140.

What the actual hell??

It’s usually 10.99 per pizza if you collect and there are generally loads of code as and deals. No one buys full Brice.

LemonysSnicket · 24/10/2017 09:31

4 pizzas will not feed 12.... I eat a large to myself ( and no I’m not obese I’m 22 and 8 stone) would be horrified to go to a party and only get 2 slices of pizza for tea!

LemonysSnicket · 24/10/2017 09:33

Also omg click on deals on their website. Or literally google ‘ dominoes discount code’ ... you’re 52 not 300

Papafran · 24/10/2017 09:34

Yup, it seems that we have a new version of the Mumsnet chicken- the dominos large pizza that feeds four hungry teenagers or adults.

I can also easily eat a large pizza to myself and I would be very unimpressed with 4 pizzas to feed 13 people.

I would get 8 or 9 but some of them supermarket ones to keep the cost down.

LemonysSnicket · 24/10/2017 09:40

35% off £25 : OCTHUNGR
50% off £35+ : PAUKSTOK
BOGOF: collect and call

BarbaraofSevillle · 24/10/2017 10:00

NewPapaGuinea Ha ha, yes. All this angst at the £20 pizza and we all seem to have overlooked the £2 donut and, apart from 3 for a fiver or the £15 dozen or whatever, there are a lot fewer deals on Krispy Kremes.

But I do wonder how many people really want to eat a whole Domino’s large pizza to themselves? The website says they serve 3-4, presumably with some sides, which those suggesting that the OP buys 4-6 pizzas also gets, so it's not just 3 slices of pizza per person at all. It's 3 slices of a large pizza, plus sides, plus 2 donuts per person. That's loads of food! A large Domino's pizza with a standard base not stuffed crust etc is between 1700 and 2300 calories, plus probably 500? for the donuts, plus more for crisps, wedges etc.

The OP is shocked at the cost and presumably doesn't want to buy a lot more food than she actually needs, which is why people are advising on how to reduce the cost, without skimping on the party experience.

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/10/2017 10:03

"I can also easily eat a large pizza to myself"
An example of greed doesn't change the fact that the pizzas are made to serve 3-4 people.

RhinoGirl · 24/10/2017 10:13

We don’t get dominoes very often as it is expensive, usually me and DH share a large and two sides, never many sides left but a few slices, probably two or three left. We always use an offer, occasionally take advantage of two for tuesday. Love dominoes, and get the large dips! I’m sure i order dominoes for just the garlic dip!

Sounds like amazing party, hope all the 16 year olds enjoy!

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 24/10/2017 10:21

I have a hearty appetite but I’m Shock at people who can eat a 10-slice pizza to themselves.

DH and I get one between us with a couple of sides, and there’s always some left over. I don’t think the OP should over-order just in case there’s someone with a ridiculously large appetite.

Besides I’m sure some of the kids will be bringing snacks etc as well

StabbyBitchTheEvilWitch · 24/10/2017 10:23

Call your local branch. I ordered dominos for the catering at my DS1 party, I called and said I had a big order for a party what could you do for me.

£50 got me 6 large pizzas of my choice & 6 big bottles of fizz. I was well chuffed as when we order for Home it’s £40 for 2 pizzas & chicken, it’s the sides that whack the price up.

Don't forget the cookies either. Grin I actually think these are better than the pizza.

Scabbersley · 24/10/2017 10:30

It's worth mentioning that I am on @BIWI bootcamp!! So no pizza or doughnuts for me Sad

We had a Domino's last night, Medium pizza with stuffed crust, It was a texas bbq, 7 chicken wings and 7 chicken kickers and that came to £22 odd and that was with the 30% off when you spend £30 Shock

MusicToMyEars800 · 24/10/2017 10:40

It sounds like the party will be brilliant Smile

Teenagerwoes · 24/10/2017 10:56

If it’s not already been said go on latest deals website they have a voucher checker 😀.
I agree though, it’s extortionate! (Even with a code)!

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 24/10/2017 11:01

Music you need to shop about the deals, you could’ve got that for £19 (can you tell I have the dominoes app).

I’m stepping away from this thread now as I’m bloody starving and meant to be on a health food kick 😩

MusicToMyEars800 · 24/10/2017 11:23

It was with a deal Cherry Grin Plus can't have a domino's without the stuffed crust, It's the best part of the pizza, especially dipped in that delicious garlic and herb dip Grin

brummiesue · 24/10/2017 11:24

Love the judgements about those of us that are able to manage a whole pizza alone and don't share with our 'dh'..... not all of us are obese and unable to control out eating, some just have it as an occasional treat Hmm

Crispsheets · 24/10/2017 11:28

Yes brummie
I have about 2 a year and never order sides.

Coconutspongexo · 24/10/2017 11:31

I hate the cost of Dominos it's ridiculous if I ever decide to order one I go on a voucher hunt online.

Luckily Pizza Hut have just started delivering to mine and their deals are much better but their small pizzas are £9.99 which I can't get over!

MusicToMyEars800 · 24/10/2017 11:45

Dipping Pizza hut is much better value for money, you get so much more for your money Smile

Agreed. I am 5'2" and weigh under 8.5 stone. Not the picture of your stereotypical overeater. I don't eat this amount every day. I am more reptilian than that - one enormous meal and I probably won't eat much for 2 or 3 days until I start to feel hungry again!
