To wonder what the hell? A Domino's pizza is £20??

Dd is having a party and has asked for Domino's. I haven't had a Domino's pizza for about 25 years. Just went on the website and one large pizza is £20!

So 7 pizzas would cost £140.

What the actual hell??

I know OP has said she will be getting dominoes but I'm just imagining if I was 16 and invited to my friends for dominoes (the favourite of all my friends) and being given a supermarket one. I would be gutted.

I mean, the supermarket ones are nice but not if you have takeaway pizza in your head.

Coconutspongexo · 24/10/2017 12:26

Bored I agree with you - they definitely don't taste the same it would be a big of a let down.

TheCowWentMoo · 24/10/2017 12:29

I can eat a whole pizza myself, and I'm no where near being overweight! (5'7 and 9st) What's wrong with eating a lot for one day every 6 months or so? Nothing.

I normally eat ~ 3/4 and have some for lunch the next day, one pizza between 4 is 2 slices each? You'd be starving. I dont know anyone that eats less than half a pizza tbh, if ordering for lots of friends would go for half a pizza each but no less than that.

Reading this thread I couldn’t help but think of the meme below Grin

OP it sounds like a fab party, DD is very lucky!

Don’t know if it’s been said but Nachos are easy to make yourself ( and cheap) and teens in my house love them with Pizza

Bollocks they are £20!

At full price a large margarita is £13.99

You could by 6 of those, with the discount and it cost you £40.

Since when do they cost £20?!

Coconutspongexo · 24/10/2017 12:44

Is it different prices for different stores? My locals larges are 18.99 margherita is 17.99 not 13.99.

Coconutspongexo · 24/10/2017 12:45

I'm lying the margherita is £15.99 large in the one closest to me ATM!

PinkHeart5914 · 24/10/2017 12:53

The one near me, the large pizza are £18.99 apart from the margarita at £15.99 but at a party you want a bit of variety not just boring old margarita.

I think I’d order 6 pizzas, do some garlic bread from the supermarket and they have the doughnuts for dessert so it’s not any of them are going to starve, more than enough food.

Party sounds lovely OP and I hope your dd enjoys!

DingleBerries · 24/10/2017 13:03

£15.99!!!

I assumed (wrongly, clearly!) that it was a blanket amount.

No need for toppings. Dominos toppings are abismal.
The only good thing they do is margarita.

Coconutspongexo · 24/10/2017 13:08

Op do you have this deal at your local dominos

Because of course, £14 for a cupful of industrial mass-produced dough, three spoonfuls of industrial mass-produced tomato sauce and a fistful industrial mass-produced cheese is such excellent value for money. God OP.

pisacake · 24/10/2017 22:15

£14 and buy one get one free = £7. Not £14.

19lottie82 · 24/10/2017 22:19

pic funnily enough there are more costs involved than the raw ingredients.
Wages? Taxes? Rent? Electricity? Gas? Advertising? Plus plenty more.

pictish · 24/10/2017 22:23

My mistake. £14 for two cupfuls of industrial mass-produced dough, six spoonfuls of industrial mass-produced tomato sauce and two fistfuls of industrial mass-produced cheese.
I stand corrected.

pictish · 24/10/2017 22:24

Lottie...I know, I know. They're generous to a fault really.

MargotLovedTom1 · 24/10/2017 22:25

I ordered Dominos for dd's birthday - one girl asked if she could have garlic bread rather than pizza. When it arrived it was about the size of a CD!

anonymousbird · 24/10/2017 22:28

They are expensive even with a code and totally shit!!!!

Only ever had one order and never will again. Have a freezer drawer of pizzas and garlic breads for any such evening!

BarbaraofSevillle · 24/10/2017 22:30

Well when the OP started the thread, she didn't realise that Dominos were the DFS of pizza takeaways where prices were set comedically high in order to provide scope for a permanent sale.

Also, maybe as she might want more than cheese on her pizza, and heaven forbid a stuffed crust too, which would take the price of a large pizza above £20, which is why she started the thread.

petitdonkey · 24/10/2017 22:31

I bought 8 for DDs recent birthday party for 35 children!! (aged 11) - that was £40 - they would have eaten more but they weren't hungry after donuts too.

BabyLlama · 24/10/2017 22:39

£20 and they still taste like shite!

Scabbersley · 24/10/2017 22:51

Domino's duly collected and delivered to group of hungry teenagers round bonfire. I was called a 'legend' so I think they were pleased! I got six larges and two mediums for about 70. I had to go and collect but the journey was made more interesting by seeing a Domino's delivery car drive straight into the side of a car waiting in traffic Shock
