To wonder what the hell? A Domino's pizza is £20??

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 20:29

Dd is having a party and has asked for Domino's. I haven't had a Domino's pizza for about 25 years. Just went on the website and one large pizza is £20!

So 7 pizzas would cost £140.

What the actual hell??

Ds once persuaded me to buy pizza for the whole cast of his school play. 60 kids!

Never order a named pizza e.g. Margarita, big feast. Go on the build your own & add your own toppings as it's cheaper.

boydoggies · 23/10/2017 21:39

I'm thinking you're going to need 8 pizzas. Unless of course you have plenty of sides that you're planning on organising yourself.. Don't be too stingy - teenagers don't like to go hungry!

SWtobe · 23/10/2017 21:40

Op this is why I use to find the best deal for me each time we order. The codes always work so when your ready to order then go onto this website and get your code to enter on checkout

Or search in google ‘dominoes voucher codes’ and it will bring up that website

brummiesue · 23/10/2017 21:41

If your daughter has asked for dominos and you can afford it than please ignore people saying to buy them from the supermarkets - she obviously has asked for a reason and it's her birthday. Ring up and try and negotiate a price, and I can eat a medium one on my own easily Wink

BarbaraofSevillle · 23/10/2017 21:41

I must be the only person who doesn't like supermarket pizza counter pizza as loads of people seem to love them, but the bases are just not like pizza at all to me.

If they are set on Domino's I would get the best vouchers (at least 50% off) reckon on one large pizza between 3 and get crisps amd dips, wedges, onion rings, nuggets, salad, ice cream or whatever from the supermarket to make it go further.

Otherwise, I'd get nice supermarket ones and do the production line thing for half an hour or so to get them all cooked - cook a couple, serve and repeat two or three times.

MongerTruffle · 23/10/2017 21:44

AlexanderHamilton Paying £1.50 per topping is definitely not cheaper.

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 21:47

Yeah she really wants Domino's.

Its not the actual amount it just seems a lot for pizza!

A large margarita it £13.99

A large make your own is £12.99

(Often cheaper at lunchtimes)

user1492958275 · 23/10/2017 21:48

I'd probably go for 4 pizzas for (£40 ish) and then buy 6 bags of Doritos and a couple tubs of dip.

so £50, not bad for feeding so many!

buckeejit · 23/10/2017 21:50

Sainsburys fresh pizzas are the best! They also cook them instore but as, them to cook for 11 mins as their own time is not enough. Ring & find out how many they can fit in their oven at once. Coordinate a couple of garlic bread or pizzas or chips at home for when you arrive with pizza!

NobbyNobberson · 23/10/2017 21:53

You can get a large dominos pizza with 1 topping for £5.99 before 4pm. Just collect them early and reheat them 😁

inkandstone · 23/10/2017 21:54

Go to Wetherspoons ~ they start at £4.99 and they're lovely (they do takeaways). The bases are like Pizza Express Romana (with a bit less topping).

bungaloid · 23/10/2017 21:54

Yeah you won't do much better than £10 per large on offers. Still should be plenty enough for 2, so not too crazy per head for a birthday. Could probably get 2x large and a couple of sides + drink for £25.
The thing with Dominos is that however hungry you are (or not), if you are getting delivery it basically doesn't really work unless you get 2x large as a minimum order. Sometimes I want less pizza and more sides but then I feel annoyed when I could just pay an extra few quid for another large (that I don't really want). Yes the tough choices I have in life grind me down.

NeverTwerkNaked · 23/10/2017 21:54

It’s ludicrously over priced.

I have a friend who owned dominos franchises and they are a millionaire many times over...

Only buy if you can get an offer. And yes, i’d Buy 4-6 pizzas with a voucher and then bung a load of freezer food in the oven (fries, onion rings, garlic bread etc) to bulk it out

IncyWincySpiderOnRepeat · 23/10/2017 21:57

If you can get to an Asda their make your own pizza counter is really good, nice bases, lots of topping choices and usually really tasty cheesy pizzas. Oh and about £4 for a 14inch pizza... much nicer than Dominoes too.... 😀

Givemeallthechocolate · 23/10/2017 21:58

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread, any chance you could go to Asda? They do brilliant pizzas that you can get made up.... maybe that's a bit too much to do when feeding 13...

So what about using the deal where you get any pizza for £9.99 if you collect, get DH to pick them up 5 pizzas should do it to be fair. £50, chuck a bag of wedges in the oven, make up a salad with some coleslaw, few bottles of pop and I think you've put on a pretty good feast.theyll all be able to fill their boots and it'll cost you less than £70 all in.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 23/10/2017 22:03

I can’t stop laughing at this priceless quip dominos is fucking mental, it’s cheese on toast you robbing bastards!

burninghigh · 23/10/2017 22:05

No idea in price but please don't just go to Asda.

chewbacca83 · 23/10/2017 22:09

If you have NHS discount you can get 50% off. But to be honest I would get some pizza bases and a load of toppings for them to make their own. Much more fun and a fraction of the price.

NapQueen · 23/10/2017 22:14

The supermarket counter pizzas are nice but they taste nothing like a Dominos. Dominos are the best.

NapQueen · 23/10/2017 22:15

Grin at the idea of 16 year olds having fun making their own pizzas. Hilarious.

Op buy dominos.

Armi · 23/10/2017 22:18

I love the whole, ‘Of course they deliver....’ and the even more entertaining, ‘Haven’t you got a local place that will deliver?’ after the OP has said they live rurally. I’ve just checked and Dominoes most definitely do not deliver to where I live and the nearest ‘local place’ is a 50 minute round trip. It must be hard to believe if you are a town dweller that in 21st century Britain there really are places where there aren’t takeaways, where delivery services don’t deliver, where there are no mobile phone signals and where a round trip to a supermarket can take up a massive chunk of your day.

BriechonCheese · 23/10/2017 22:20

Ugh dominoes always gives me a dicky tummy.
