Equality for everyone!!! Hurrah!!

Apart from the fact that equality means the erosion of rights from 50% of the population.

But let’s jump on the bandwagon of being cool and accepting....and not doing any research into the subject, for example how drugs that suppress puberty can result in life limiting side effects.

Let’s not talk about men convicted of rape who end up in women’s prisons or the medals won by men competing in women’s sport.

Agghh

Trans women come into the feminist cause and organize with us?

I have never yet heard from a transwoman remotely interested in the many and major issues affecting biological women, and this includes the current women's officer of the student union.

Trans activism is quite up front about feminism now centres trans people with trans issues (or it isn't feminism, i think that's the catchy phrase) and must be 'intersectional'.

So:

  • women will no longer be allowed to meet without the presence of men who self identify as women

  • those groups are expected to stop whatever they've been doing up until now, and defer to and center (revolve around) the men who self identify as women

  • those groups will no longer be allowed to discuss things like menstruation, pregnancy, child birth, menopause, in fact anything specific to female biology, because it is 'triggering' to the men who self identify as women who don't have those options/parts, and because it suggests that womanhood is somehow defined and created by an actual physical reality

  • due to 'cis privilege', any discussion regarding oppression will center trans experiences. This will include that a biological woman must not claim to have been 'raped' by a transperson as rape can only be carried out by someone of higher privilege to lower. Or something. You need glue to really get this part. But it goes with the trans political lobby at present (please see the manifestos, this is all quite open, public and official) to release ALL trans prisoners (this includes all rapists, serious sexual offenders and Ian Huntley) immediately.

Anyone still stupid enough to be thinking this sounds sane?

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/10/2017 19:03

Bucket. No it doesn’t sound sand. There again, I haven’t had a lobotomy for my current ailment of being a cis female. Wink

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/10/2017 19:03

Sane even.

I can't help noticing that trans activists seem to have no answer to the question of what women should do if they feel unsafe sharing changing rooms or toilets with adult males. If the proposed changes go ahead then women who don't feel safe sharing facilities with males will have no grounds to object if a male uses the women's changing rooms or toilets.

It's hard not to suspect that it's because many trans activists think it's perfectly acceptable for some women to be excluded from facilities like gyms and public toilets. I'd love someone to prove me wrong and provide some alternative suggestion of what women should do in this situation.

differenteverytime · 20/10/2017 19:42

As I understand it, the thinking is that any women who feel that way are transphobic scum and, as such, have no right to speak or have access anywhere.

nauticant · 20/10/2017 19:43

They do, I've seen it on social media plenty of times. It goes like this: if women feel like this they should hate themselves.

Bucketsandspoons · 20/10/2017 19:50

Nauticant rather reminiscent of the whole cotton ceiling argument, isn't it? If you're lesbian and dare to say that you're not attracted to a male bodied self defined lesbian with a penis, the fault lies in you and you must educate and train yourself out of your disgusting, unacceptable prejudices.

Oddly enough, gay men however can just get on with their prejudices, and trans women can too, it's only biological women who have to change themselves.

Funny that.

differenteverytime · 20/10/2017 19:58

Buckets, I agree this has been the case for quite some time. But I've literally just this minute noticed a fuss amongst straight male Playboy fans on Twitter. It seems that Playboy has just featured an openly trans woman. It's the first time I've ever seen straight men asked to challenge their non-attraction to male-bodied people. Previously I've only ever seen that happening to lesbians.

Ooh this should be interesting. I can;t imagine it will go down well with men at all to be told they must be attracted to people with penises else they are bigoted

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/10/2017 20:59

Ines Rau is doing the centrefold so I doubt very much they still have a penis. Men won't be expected to love ladydicks like lesbians are.

Anon8604 · 20/10/2017 21:05

Wow. I honestly doubted this could be the case, but a quick look on Twitter and Google proved me wrong.

It makes me so angry to hear people saying women are transphobic if we say we feel unsafe using a changing room with men present. I feel unsafe in those circumstances because, like millions of other women, I've experienced sexual harassment and assault. Feeling unsafe (and, for me, probably having a panic attack) when I see a man in a changing room isn't bigotry, it's a perfectly fucking reasonable consequence of having been the victim of male violence.

I fail to see why the fuck I should have to give up using my gym or using public toilets because a tiny minority want the law to be changed so being a woman is just a matter of how you feel. Which then means nobody can challenge a man using women's facilities because who knows if he defines as a woman and will accuse you of being a bigot or of breaking the law.

So so angry right now. Angry

Excellent article in the London Evening Standard tonight.

nauticant · 20/10/2017 21:23

Why stop now Anon8604?

Upthread Bucketsandspoons mentioned the cotton ceiling. Have a google for that term if you want to see where this is heading. (But don't bother with the SJWiki entry. It's almost incomprehensible. And I don't think that's an accident.)

ALittleBitOfButter · 20/10/2017 21:43

There are two main ways that trans ideology is homophobic.

  1. By telling lesbians womanhood is a feeling in your brain, therefore same sex attraction is hateful. The cotton ceiling is a strategy to break through lesbian's knickers by persuading them that their same sex attraction needs to be corrected to accommodate men with penises.
  2. By sterilising gender non conforming children, 80% of whom would otherwise grow up to be well adjusted gays and lesbians.

In addition there is the fact that in Iran if you are gay you need to transition or face the death penalty. Elite women footballers can't get a place on their national team. But that's ok. Transwomenarewomen.

Bucketsandspoons · 20/10/2017 21:45

Great article Empress ! That's encouraging, I particularly like the 'material reality' part. I wonder if Cerys is a MNetter Wink

OrderMeACurry · 20/10/2017 21:58

@dinosaursandtea

Because trans women are women.

Using that logic that would mean the time I was glassed over the head and called a revolting tranny wasn't actually a transphobic attack because I'm actually a woman and not a transwoman after all. #LogicFail.

OrderMeACurry · 20/10/2017 22:02

The fact that you acknowledge that transphobia exists @dinosaursandtea and are so keen to accuse everyone and their dog of being transphobic proves that you don't really believe transwomen are women. By acknowledging transphobia you are in fact acknowledging that transwomen are different to women and face different problems and prejudices. Think about it now.

blackteasplease · 20/10/2017 22:25

Aren't these males ashamed to be winning in sports categories where they have such a clear biological advantage? It's a bit like me going along and being proud to win a race against kids at my dds primary school.

TheShaniaTwainExperience · 20/10/2017 22:36

Yes blackteas!

They have no shame. It's quite incredible. I regularly scoff in disbelief; it's not just one isolated incident- this is happening in so many sports!!

ALittleBitOfButter · 20/10/2017 22:51

Dinosaursandtea will ignore you Curry
She takes her orders from the sexual fetishist transactivist lobby. Even though identity politics dictates that your views should be listened to and respected, it conflicts with the misogynists who rule the roost with their rape threats and violence.

Ceto · 20/10/2017 22:57

There must be some conspiracy going on with this trans thing, the way they are pushing it on us and not allowing any real debate all of a sudden

Who's not allowing debate? Why would this thread still be up if that were the case?

Boulshired · 20/10/2017 22:57

What I cannot understand is self identification not only puts women at risk but trans women themselves. All men would be entitled to the same access as trans women even those who wish them harm by uttering four words “I am a woman”. All of the trans women I have met have wanted to live their lives as quietly and peacefully as possible, I do feel they are being thrown under the bus as well.

ALittleBitOfButter · 20/10/2017 22:59

Ceto there have been strenuous attempts to stop debate on mumsnet about self identification and other trans issues harmful to women's rights.

ALittleBitOfButter · 20/10/2017 23:04

A rapist was put in a woman's jail, moved due to harrassing the women prisoners, but all Pink News could say was that the media shouldn't have reported the fact that he was a transwoman. Fuck the women inmates. That's the sort of ideology dinosaurs has hitched her wagon too.

ALittleBitOfButter · 20/10/2017 23:05

*then subsequently moved due to harrassing women
