Equality for everyone!!! Hurrah!!

Apart from the fact that equality means the erosion of rights from 50% of the population.

But let’s jump on the bandwagon of being cool and accepting....and not doing any research into the subject, for example how drugs that suppress puberty can result in life limiting side effects.

Let’s not talk about men convicted of rape who end up in women’s prisons or the medals won by men competing in women’s sport.

Agghh

I honestly think you've got the wrong person Nickynackynoodle and the photo upthread is not Brittney Griner. This is what Brittney Griner looks like:

Terfing · 20/10/2017 13:43

Please don't call me anti-transgender. I do not identify in this way. If you call me that again, I will probably kill myself, and it will be entirely your fault! Murderer.

Nickynackynoodle · 20/10/2017 13:43

Posed the wrong link so have asked for it to be deleted.

MorrisZapp · 20/10/2017 13:45

Well argued thesis there from the trans side.

treaclesoda · 20/10/2017 13:45

Hasn't this been done to death already? There are some who just refuse to try to understand, and keep vomiting the same old bullshit rhetoric. You sound like a bunch of bigoted muppets

Indeed. Those who keep vomiting the same bullshit rhetoric about transwomen being actual women do refuse to understand.

CAAKE · 20/10/2017 13:54

Call me a bigot if you want but this is NOT RIGHT.

Oh good, another trans thread. This will be edifying 🙈🙈🙈

BahHumbygge · 20/10/2017 14:15

CAAKE Shock

Why isn't it that the men's washrooms are trans-inclusive? Why is it always women who have to budge up and share our narrow allocation of resources even more? Women, due to both physiological reasons (periods, urination process needing a cubicle etc) and clothing design need longer to visit the washroom... hence why longer queues at the ladies. And we're expected to share those resources even more thinly?! Then there's the issue of coming out of a cubicle late at night on a quiet railway platform to find a 6'3" male built like a brick shit house by the sinks. You have no idea if they identify as trans or not, they don't even have to present as women to claim female status (cf Dave Muscato/Beardy Alex). And you would be considered the bigot if you dared question them. Your spidey senses & adrenaline just go into overdrive and you either hide back in the cubicle, missing your train, or risk running into the path of a possible predator heading for the exit.

I am so Angry that this is what we are up against

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/10/2017 14:17

Here come the ploppers!

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/10/2017 14:19

Why is mumsnet so anti-trans. (Sad face)

Mumsnet isn’t anti trans. It is anti the subjugation and endangerment of females born with female chromosomes.

Giving transsexuals access to our safe spaces and allowing them the same status as us is dangerous.

Yes, I wish for protection for transsexuals but not at my expense.

Certain men now identifying as women have no respect for the sex, which made their very existence possible. Those men should not be allowed to be called women. They dangerous.

HornyTortoise · 20/10/2017 14:29

If being trans is not an illness then there's no reason for medication or surgery to be provided by the NHS.

And definitely no reason for kids and young people to be put on puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones, because there's nothing to medicate them for.

Indeed. The second sentence should really be classed as child abuse...and I am positive it will be when looked back on in 20 or so years. Its the lobotomy of recent days tbh

HornyTortoise · 20/10/2017 14:31

So if the aim is to have trans demedicilised and not recognise as an illness does that mean that people with gender dysphoria won't be able to access mental health support? Because if so that's actually quite terrifying.

Its actually really hard for trans people to access mental health support at the moment, as transactivists view therapy as 'conversion' and it is transphobic to have any treatment bar hormones and such. Seriously. There are a couple of parents of trans kids on here who have had terrible problems trying to access mental health support for their children and one was basically told that if blockers and such were not the route chosen, all support would end. Its so wrong, and scary, and so many don't even know whats going on and have the kneejerk 'transwomen are women!!!!' reaction without actually thinking

BeyondNoone · 20/10/2017 14:32

"no reason for medication or surgery to be provided by the NHS"

I have been so tempted - but have thus far repressed the urge Grin - to ask on the "obese people cannot have non urgent surgery on the nhs" thread whether transition is included in that. But I know the inevitable "don't turn this into yet another trans thread" would follow... 😂

ArcheryAnnie · 20/10/2017 14:33

Nope. They will still be women only. Because trans women are women.

I think if posters like @dinosaursandtea are OK with sharing intimate space with people with penises, however they identify, that's up to them.

What isn't up to them is requiring the rest of us to be OK with it too. This spells the end of sex segregation - mixed-sex hospital wards, mixed-sex prisons (good god), mixed sex-changing rooms, mixed-sex dormitories at your daughters' summer camp, everything. Some of us think that, as always, the sex class composed of women will suffer.

SloeSloeQuickQuickGin · 20/10/2017 14:33

Are you happy to share a changing room with a male bodied person including intact, functioning penis? Happy for your daughter, your mother, your grandmother? Happy for a woman who has been raped, been a victim of domestic abuse? Or just for a woman who does not wish to be undressed in front of a male or to have a male undressed in front of her. What happens if this male bodied person has an erection?

Doesnt bother me at all .... last time I got 'touched up' in a same sex changing room it was by a predatory lesbian. Shall we ban those too?

HornyTortoise · 20/10/2017 14:37

Why is mumsnet so anti-trans? 😒

I wouldn't say it was anti-trans at all. More...pro-female. And actually willing to think into matters beyond 'biology is not real and feeling are what matters, not sex'

AdalindSchade · 20/10/2017 14:37

Male people should not be competing alongside women in sport. Firstly they are generally bigger, stronger and taller than women meaning they can seriously injure or kill women in contact sports. Secondly they are not in the same league in terms of performance and so a second rate male can beat the top class females and therefore push them out of elite or competitive sports.
Identifying as a woman doesn't change your biology.

Lancelottie · 20/10/2017 14:37

Nope, no need or wish to ban a lesbian from a women's changing room, because she is a woman. Hope you reported her, though.

MoistCantaloupe · 20/10/2017 14:38

Well if it doesn't bother you personally @Sloe, then let's all call it a day.

Have you no empathy for those it does bother? The example of the women being thrown out the women's shelter as they were uncomfortable sleeping in a room with a trans person, that doesn't bother you? I find it hard to stomach that spaces which used to be safe for victims of violence, and sexual violence, are not longer safe or comfortable for them.

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/10/2017 14:38

Wtf Tortoise. That’s horrendous and barbaric. No mental health support. It not in the same league as Joseph Mengele. But I thought society was supposed to have progressed. Shock

53rdWay · 20/10/2017 14:39

yeah, I'd actually be totally fine with predatory women being kicked out of changing rooms and told not to come back to the gym/whatever. As would most people, I think.

Or do you mean 'ban' because you think feminists are trying to 'ban' trans people? I have no wish to ban trans people. They should be able to wear what they want and live as they like. I just don't want any bloke out there to be able to say "I define myself as a woman" and waltz right in to single-sex spaces where women are or might be vulnerable. Because if self-ID is law, he is what he says he is! Can't call him on it!

Why do you think we have single-sex toilets, hospital wards, domestic violence refuges? It's not because we're hoarding all the cool stuff in there, is it?
