to ask why is it acceptable to say you hate kids?

Prompted by a certain female comedien saying this (whom I love btw!), it seems that it is the last taboo. By all means say you are not a child-person, you don't want kids etc but HATE them? You wouldn't be able to say that about any other group of people (and kids are people), so why do people say it about children?

I don't like other people's kids. Mine are perfect.

Hating children is just a bit pathetic isn't it?I understand not wanting children, I understand not even being interested in other people's children, but to hate them? I don't hate a group of people just because of what age they are

Agreed. I don't find children terribly interesting and I find it difficult to talk to them. I genuinely think being able to have a conversation with a child who isn't your own and not be rumbled as a patronising git is a fantastic skill.

I still can't get over the fact that people have no kids weddings. If I had invite that excluded my child I wouldn't go

But this is on the other hand is just ridiculous - what on earth entitles you to assume the invitation includes your children?

EvilDoctorBallerinaVampireDuck · 16/10/2017 21:26

I always do recoil in revulsion MrsJayy.

Mittens1969 · 16/10/2017 21:26

RosieBucket, I don’t have an issue with people putting ‘no children’ on an invitation. Young children can be disruptive. We couldn’t really exclude chfor our wedding as there were too many guests travelling long distance with young children who we wanted to be there. But I do understand and I don’t think it matters you appear anti children at all.

This is about posters saying they hate children, not about child free weddings.

Completely different topic. The people who demand their children must be invited too are as ridiculous and unreasonable as the hate all children brigade.

RosieBucket · 16/10/2017 21:36

The conversation meandered. I followed it. Maybe I followed it up a cul-de-sac, but I was about the 10th person to mention child free weddings so I can't see why you are pinning this on me.

Bicyclethief · 16/10/2017 21:39

I don't demand anything. I just said if my child wasn't invited I wouldn't go.

Bicyclethief · 16/10/2017 21:42

Rosiebucket might have been aimed at me. Someone mentioned it earlier and I as you eloquently put it, followed it up a cul de sac!

BlueSapp · 16/10/2017 21:45

Disgusting thread

Mittens1969 · 16/10/2017 21:56

I was replying to you, not pinning it on you, sorry for giving that impression.

RosieBucket · 16/10/2017 21:57

Life's much more interesting without sat nav.

Lethaldrizzle · 16/10/2017 22:03

People who hate kids have a little bit of ice in their hearts

LongWavyHair · 16/10/2017 22:06

Mittens I know you were! The "you" was a general you aimed at people who hate children. Sorry, my post sounded like it was an attack on you!

Mittens1969 · 16/10/2017 22:17

It’s ok, LongWavyHair, I did know what you meant! My comment was aimed at RosieBucket, an apology. It’s so easy to cause offence without meaning to on here.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 16/10/2017 22:20

Blue what is it that you find disgusting about this thread?

RosieBucket · 16/10/2017 22:27

Nah. No worries. We're all too confused by now, to take offence.

Peas and love.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/10/2017 22:35

Splitting hairs. Why do you think your child should be invited?

BoneyBackJefferson · 16/10/2017 22:47

RoseWhiteTips
All thus pointing out stuff must get tedious. Are you a classroom assistant?

A massive leap given that anyone that works with children are more likely to be the ones that understand why people say that they hate children.

BlueSapp · 16/10/2017 22:51

Baby bashing is so disturbing

CliffRichardsPenIs · 17/10/2017 07:54

I sometimes think the Victorians had the right idea with "seen and not heard"

This a million times over.

Bicyclethief · 17/10/2017 08:42

People are free to invite who they want. I just think since my child is part of my immediate family it polite to do so but I can understand why some people can't for financial reasons, if it's because they hate children well that's just weird.

brasty · 17/10/2017 08:45

It is not always about finances or hating children. As I said above I went to a wedding where there were about 30-40 young children there. It was more like a wedding in an afterschool club. Every other wedding I have went to where there are kids, the numbers are small and it is fine. But if everyone you want to invite has at least a few kids, it changes the whole event into more a kids event.

Bicyclethief · 17/10/2017 08:49

But what are weddings for if not for all generation of friends and family to meet up and celebrate?

ShatnersWig · 17/10/2017 08:53

Bicycle This really isn't a thread about childfree weddings. We have plenty of those on a regular basis without turning other threads into them.
