To say that vegans can't really like food?

I mean they don't eat most food so most cooking shows and recipe books are pointless for them. Going out for meals a chore. Birthdays, celebrations, dates... so much of is centred around food which they have to deny themselves and pick around.

I have nothing against vegans and everyone has the absolute right to eat what they want. But trying to cater for a vegan along with other guests is bloody hard work.

Reckon I'll get roasted for this.

@hothead I'm not a vegan but I often eat meals that happen to be vegan as they are fairly easy and nutritious (and tasty Grin). A lot of curries, pasta dishes (using ordinary dried pasta not fresh egg pasta), salads, stews etc. A hell of a lot can just be bunged in a pot or slow cooker! Without the label of "vegan" it is just good home-cooked food, nothing particularly difficult or much different to preparing meat dishes. I think the vegan label can make people think you have to have all these weird ingredients and stuff, but not really in my experience.

I do not have a slow cooker as I work long shifts and vegetables would be long gone past edible in that time.
For me cookings not the issue if I am not working but when I get in at 7pm a quick meal for me and dd is what I am aiming for. There is only so much pasta, stir fried, jacket potatoes cuscus you can eat.Curries ,and stews take too much time on work days.Being a typical teen my dd skips lunch so needs a good meal to prevent endless grazing.Summer is easier as you can eat more salads and the caterpillars have munch the last of my lettuce.
I have given up giving anything other than pizzas to dds vegetarian friends, they don't like lentils, olives, coucous, and numerous veg.

I know it can be tough planning meals and you've got to do what is good for you!

I would recommend a slow cooker, though (meat or no meat) - if you can work out how it can be used to suit you. Like you, I can't set it to use during the day in the week, so I tend to either use it on low overnight and then leave out to cool and put away first thing, or do one or two dishes during the day at the weekend and put it in the fridge/freezer so I can use it in the week. It saves me lots of time and lovely to think I can just reheat after a long day and not have to think about cooking Smile

You can get slow cookers with timers too.
