To not understand why people don't understand men cannot be raped by a woman?

I've read a lot whenever this comes up on here or elsewhere, that it's 'terrible' and such an outdated view. Why is it? Why can't people understand what rape is? Men can be sexually assaulted by women, but not raped.

Yes when did someone last tell a man “don’t walk home alone, there could be a man-killer lurking in the bushes”

brasty · 15/10/2017 17:18

When a man is murdered by a stranger in public, I have NEVER seen the police put out a general warning advising men not to out at night by themselves.

Tabsicle · 15/10/2017 17:28

Statistically more men are victims of male violent than women.

brasty · 15/10/2017 17:29

Yes that is true. The most dangerous thing for men to do in terms of male violence, is to go out to clubs on a Saturday night. The most dangerous thing for a woman to do in terms of male violence, is to get married.

When men get married, their risk of being victims of violence goes way down to below women's.

So it is young men who out drinking in clubs that are at a high risk of violence as men.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 15/10/2017 17:34

So we can all agree that men and their aggression are the problem then?

even if there is agreement on "men" and their aggression being the problem, it still doesn't address the reasons why some men are like this.

Yes. But they don't fear it like women do and are constantly told that we should.

Wow. If that doesn't encapsulate the problem right there, I don't know what does.

Amazing how a few sentences can have such an impact.

Yes men hurt other men, but they've usually got a (literal) fighting chance.

I'm in my 30s, healthy, not small. I can fight dirty if necessary.

Even with all those things counted in, almost any male from puberty up is stronger and faster than me and could overpower me. I'd fight back, but I'd lose if I didn't get a lucky shot in.
